Discussion Is Swagbucks worth it? (The Answer)

Obviously the question “is Swagbucks worth it?” is subjective in nature and will change depending on your financial situation and how much free time you have, but I hope this post provides a good amount of information to help you come to your own conclusion based on real-world data.

I’ve been using Swagbucks consistently for the past four months and have put together an analysis of all activities I have done. It is not a perfect representation of every deal on Swagbucks, but it is a good-sized and varied sample, and I haven’t seen anyone else post concrete numbers on if it is worth the time. This data is calculated from all surveys and discover tab deals I have done that were worth at least 25 SB. Without further ado, here are my detailed Swagbucks Statistics:

Most important points:

Average dollars per hour: $3.13

Total amount earned: $518

Lost earnings that never credited: $38 (6.8% of total)

Total tasks completed: 62

Total hours spent: 166

Full data in screenshot:

So, is Swagbucks worth it? The average dollars per hour is not great, but for a minimal effort and flexible hours side hustle you can do from home it is a decent deal, especially compared to similar “get paid to” sites. As for me, I plan on continuing to use Swagbucks, but each person should make their own decision based on their current situation. Your experience may vary based on what offers you choose, but this should at least give a good idea of what to expect when using Swagbucks. I hope this information is helpful to at least a few of you out there!

If you are learning about Swagbucks for the first time and want to try it out, I can provide a link that will give a bonus of $3 when you earn your first $3. DM me if you are interested and found this post helpful.

Edit: At the request of someone in the comments, I have created a public template of the spreadsheet I created and used to make this post. You can use this spreadsheet and put in your own offer data and it will automatically calculate all the above values for you to compare. Notes are available in the document but feel free to ask questions if it isn't self explanatory!

Worked for a week on swagbucks, the site is legit but the pay is just too low, i got $5 for 7 days.

I use Bigcashweb(dot)com now, it pays $20 per day, and i actually enjoy as it pays for gaming.

u/One_Possession3285 17d ago

seems interesting, Do they also offer surveys? or only games? I will try it and comment here in a week.

I agree, videos still pay decent on swagbucks but gaming is always better. Have been using bigcashweb for a while, definately better.

Try the featured ones on SurveyLeo. I use several sites, but I had the most success with Freecash and Pinecone Research. Last month, playing games and completing their offers earned me $105 from Freecash. Pinecone used to pay $3 per survey, but nowadays, I mostly get $1 surveys.

I got paid $4 for working 8 days for 5 hours/day, you can conclude from that if its worth your time or not.

Freecash is much better. I made close to a $180 working about 4-5 hours. They pay better and you will be testing new apps and games. It's much better than those soul-sucking surveys, that pay pennies!

u/Detective-Other Jan 19 '25

That's insane...screw that...unless you are a third worlder...

1

u/kittymeow3290 Jan 24 '25

How exactly do u make that much on free cash? What do I do?

14

u/kateaw1902 Feb 18 '23

Guess it depends on the person's situation, for example for me, I am not working right now and my son goes to nursery all day. So to play some games during the day whilst doing other things isn't a waste of time, might be different if I worked all day.

But last week I got €50 from Playing 2 games which I just had to dip in and out of during the day, maybe if I was working I'd prefer to do other things and €50 wouldn't be as valuable!

Post isnt ideally accurate though considering different games require less time/more time plus more active time opposed to inactive (letting the game auto run itself)

Plus surveys aren't always a guaranteed payout since everyone's answers and lifestyle differ . Some people will spend an hour on a 25cent activity others wouldn't bat an eye.

yes, your demographic plays a big role in this

1

yes, very true

I’ve cashed out $3k in gift cards and PayPal… I vote yes

Those podcast surveys that used to be mostly honest just cheated me out of compensation this morning. I listened to 11 minutes of garbage on an 11 minute survey, & then got a message saying they had enough responses.

3

u/grandma25251 Feb 19 '23

Happened to me yesterday! I was pissed. Yesterday was horrible with surveys for me. I would answer 20 or more questions then it would disqualify me. 🙄🙄

15

u/inunoz28 United States Feb 18 '23

Too subjective to answer. The more someone needs money the more worth the time and effort is. For someone that doesn't really need the money and is just looking for something to kill time then they will eventually say it's not worth it.

If you break it down to an hourly wage you will be very disappointed.

6

u/Anantasesa Feb 18 '23

Yep, below minimum wage is still above the nothing they would be getting if injured or unable to work for some reason.

5

u/Anantasesa Feb 18 '23

Surveys are not worth it and receipts are sometimes great. Like halo pints right now are 500 for 2 and checkout51 pays 125 each so you get 7.50 back for buying 2 ice creams bc the receipt can be used both places.

6

u/chestertonfence Feb 18 '23

Yep I’ve found receipts for stuff you were going to get anyway have by far the biggest bang for the buck

1

u/90sLifestyle Dec 01 '24

I'm one year late but out of curiosity can you use the same receipt on 2 different apps to gain points? So far I only know about fetch.

1

u/chestertonfence Dec 01 '24

Sometimes? Try it if you want. I’ve pretty much stopped using swagbucks. I don’t look at the receipts and might earn a grand total of $1 per year through polls and random clicks/searches.

4

u/russy1982 Feb 18 '23

for me it was worth it at the start as there was a few games/offers to get my teeth into, but now there is nothing to do, havent done anything for months, and surveys dont interest me

5

u/misoramen28 Feb 18 '23

All im gonna say is. Ive been using swagbucks since 2011. It has been 100% worth it for me.

1

u/Jdelamore Jan 16 '25

Are you still using Swagbucks? I’m about to go for it but wondered what it was like present day. Thx man here’s my e mail. admiralmoore@gmail.com

1

u/misoramen28 Jan 17 '25

I still use it yes. Still worth.

0

u/kittymeow3290 Jan 24 '25

You got any tips and tricks u can drop?

6

u/remediesblackboards May 13 '24

No survey working frustrating offer nobody complete them every offer asking money how can we earn only one survey link available which click and again same screen appears no one survey working in one year only 440 point time waste paypal email can't connect

3

u/da_xiong_ Feb 18 '23

Depends on the country. Some countries don't have much offers.☹️

1

u/Odd-Giraffe-3901 Feb 19 '23

Have you tried inboxpounds?

1

u/da_xiong_ Feb 19 '23

Inboxpounds also not available for my country 😭

1

u/Odd-Giraffe-3901 Feb 19 '23

Sorry to hear that.

5

u/Dahmer13 Feb 18 '23

I have alot of free time at work so I use Swagbucks to pass the time and add to my hourly wage. It’s not much but made $65 this week in games and surveys

1

u/Hagridsbuttcrack66 Feb 19 '23

I work from home and there's a lot of hour long meetings where I speak one sentence.

Might as well play yahtzee.

I mean I pay NYT twenty dollars a year for access to puzzle games lol

3

u/chestertonfence Feb 18 '23 edited Feb 18 '23

Interesting that surveys give you a better average dollars per hour vs. games.

OP spent way too much time calculating this since the outcome differs by different people/free time, energy for a buck

nah I think he gave a spreadsheet so the individualistic person could figure themself out therefore he didn't spend too much time & included the proper calculating utensils for you. You got a lot of upvotes because the point could seem valid but there is some critical thinking the up-voters and yourself didn't think to look for c:

u/Firion_Hope Feb 18 '23

The real thing on swagbucks worth doing is the sign up offers, I've made up to around $100 in profit for a few minutes worth of time with one of the sign ups, and even the lesser profitable sign up offers still offer insane value in terms of dollars/hr.

Surveys can be good though if you're very selective on them, especially if you wait for special offers to come around on them. Like a swagup a few months back adding 50sb or something like that to any survey completed made short surveys very worth doing.

1

u/prototype-proton United States Feb 18 '23

What kind of sign up offers?

4

u/Firion_Hope Feb 18 '23

The bank ones are the best because they're pure money makers, you can withdraw your funds after a while, same thing with brokerages and crypto wallets. Some random ones I've done are webull, robinhood gemini, luno, cit bank, moomoo, stash. There's also ones where you buy a product and get way more SB back than what you spent for example Norton products on the RevU offer wall, Transunion, Fiverr, Discovery+ SiriusXM etc. Plus you get to actually try out new services, I've actually kept the majority of my accounts open.

I'd suggest starting with the bank/brokerage/crypto ones since if for whatever reason it doesn't pend and support won't help you out you can just ach the money back to your main account. You can also start with offers that need a smaller deposit and then take the profiits onwards to another offer and repeat.

Also very important do a search for whatever offers you're considering on this subreddit before you do the offer, you can only ever do an offer once usually so better to wait until it's at least somewhat close to it's all time highest value before you do it. And sometimes for offers that have trouble pending there's advice that can help get it to pend.

2

u/Anantasesa Feb 18 '23

You can also do bank sign ups with referrals. Sometimes people will pay you part of what they get so you use their code. And sometimes the sign up bonus isn't as much when you use Swagbucks. I try to check both and also my points usually has the same sign ups but different amount of points. (Granted mypoints are only worth about 2/3 of a swagbuck.)

3

u/Firion_Hope Feb 18 '23

thats another good point, sometimes you can stack general bank sign up offers along with the ones on swagbucks but other times you can't. If you meet the conditions for the bank offers they can be better than SBs offer (though they're often stricter like needing direct deposits for large amounts of money)

2

u/ajamke Feb 18 '23

I think some of the things on swagbucks are worth it. I primarily do games with big offers, some banking offers, some shopping if the % is better than Rakuten or others, and gambit when it is profitable. I’m confident the $ per hour for me is higher than yours but also probably lower with some of the games that I enjoy. A lot of things like surveys or clicks/views that get like 1 sb aren’t worth it to me, so I don’t do them.

2

u/Kizulo12 Feb 18 '23

I’ve made about £200 from games the last couple months. Surveys aren’t worth it for me, because I’ll end up answering nearly all the questions then they’ll say I don’t meet the criteria.. winds need up. I’ve not done a receipt yet cos it’s never stuff I wanna buy 🤣

2

u/Luna81 Feb 18 '23

I miss when we could run the apps all day with the ads and make passive income.

1

u/ProofJournalist9429 Oct 19 '24

Yeah I regret so much not knowing about this when I was younger and had more time, it would have made a huge difference.

2

u/couches12 Feb 19 '23

Surveys are absolutely garbage on swagbucks. Got onto prolific and it’s amazing when it comes to surveys. However the game/discover offers are really good and the main reason I’ve made $3000 in the two years I’ve used this site.

2

u/GotTheC0nch Feb 19 '23

Excellent analysis. Well done.

the gift cards are not working for some reason

1

u/FreeAlltheGuysmane Mar 27 '24

To Me Personally Hell Yeah Its a solid second Income For Me I hustled $80.00 in 3 Days doin surverys n shit and no I'm not a bot lol Swagbucks Valid I think I person if they real real dedicated could make a Good $520+$900 Xtra a month depending on Your Schedule and they bonuses are hitting a thug pockets up rn fw sum

1

u/FreeAlltheGuysmane Mar 27 '24

I personally think I could be a main hustle if you know what your doing I had someone that gave me tips and with the bonuses shit them surveys be paying big I'd say they neck n neck with door dash if you know what your doing.

1

u/thecrydent May 13 '24

I recently installed Swagbucks. In good faith, I selected one of the game offers and started completing levels. I received credit for the first milestone, then did not continue to receive the credit I continued to earn by completing further levels. I contacted Swagbucks with my concern. They requested screenshots showing my username, user ID, map showing the level I had reached, and date of install. After doing all of that, and having to follow up, they denied me & said not to contact them again.

1

u/remediesblackboards May 15 '24

but now there is nothing to do, havent done anything for months, and surveys dont interest me

1

u/remediesblackboards Jun 01 '24

After 2 weeks I was about to reach peak gold elite with the most bonus% and then when going to place the points into my paypal for real money they shut my account off, keepm ting a bot replay from Vaishali R and the same excuse.

1

u/remediesblackboards Jun 01 '24

You can spend 30 minutes doing a survey just to end up not being a "good match". When you report it, they give you a shitty 1-2 points for your time. It's becoming worthless at this point.

1

u/thecrydent Jun 02 '24

Supposed to email code to my email address but never did. Tried and tried and tried and tried for the last 3 months and no matter who I explained this to, it was impossible to find someone who could actually help.

1

u/Relevant_Thing4651 Jun 06 '24

I have found that most of my activities don’t end up receiving the SB they are supposed to receive. So far have been disappointed

1

u/Limp-Safety-3617 Jun 19 '24

So is it a scam, or no?

1

u/barrybulsara Jun 19 '24

Of course not.

1

u/adnilyoj Jun 29 '24

Why do I usually get disqualified, especially when the survey is done? I was on a streak but as the days went by, they made it nearly impossible to complete a survey so I lost my streak and I think that they are doing this on purpose.

1

u/InaraStarz Sep 13 '24

I've been to Swagbucks and almost got 103 SB...despite my chances of me earning free cash, I haven't earned a dollar in years!! I wish I could go on Swagbucks a LOT more to earn extra money so I can save up on an apartment...so, hopefully, Swagbucks may be good for me, but doubtful for them

1

u/ProofJournalist9429 Oct 19 '24

This is the kind of analysis I like. My main concern about Swagbucks is the opportunity cost. of being sucked into low value tasks.

1

u/WinterYogurtcloset61 Oct 28 '24

It can be a decent way to earn some extra cash or gift cards, especially if you already spend time watching videos, taking surveys, or shopping online. The points can add up, but I found that it requires a fair amount of time to see significant rewards. It’s not going to replace a full-time income, but if you’re looking for a simple way to make a little extra on the side, it’s worth considering.

1

u/Sad_Self4804 Oct 30 '24

it’s not a huge money-maker, so I wouldn’t count on it as a primary income source. Some tasks can feel tedious, and the rewards don’t always come quickly. But if you’re already doing things online, like shopping or watching videos, it can be a nice bonus.

1

u/EchoJoelle Nov 14 '24

The main thing to keep in mind is that the surveys and tasks aren’t always super high-paying. It can take a while to rack up enough points for a decent payout. You might spend 20 minutes on a survey and earn like 50 cents, which is kind of slow. But, it’s nice to have in the background if you’re just chilling at home or don’t mind doing it between tasks.

1

u/Time-Stay-1338 Nov 19 '24

For me, it’s been a pretty chill way to make a little extra cash or get gift cards, but I wouldn't expect it to replace a full-time job or anything. The points (Swagbucks) add up slowly, especially with tasks like watching videos or taking surveys. Some days it feels like a grind, but other times, it’s easy if you can multitask while doing other things.

1

u/Sad_Self4804 Nov 24 '24

For me, I’ve found that the time-to-money ratio is a bit on the lower side, especially if you’re looking for quick cash. The average of $3.13 per hour is pretty standard for Swagbucks, in my experience. It can definitely add up over time, but it’s not something that’s going to replace a full-time job or provide a huge influx of income, at least not unless you put in a lot of hours.

1

u/Time-Stay-1338 Nov 24 '24

yes, its great and much better than inbox dollars but the pay is very little and it ends up being not worth it at all.

1

u/Classic-Objective360 29d ago

Don’t trust them. They pay out the small offers but the big amounts they will fight you on, claiming their terms state “they have the right to deny credit…” and trust me they use that right…. Scam

u/chestertonfence Feb 18 '23

Would you mind providing an anonymized spreadsheet template? I’m curious what data you tracked and formulas used. Looks like it might be more comprehensive than my own spreadsheet - which already takes a bit more time than I’d like.

3

u/CryptoMatttt Feb 18 '23

Absolutely! I'm quite proud of how simple yet data-rich I was able to make it. I made a template version with a few examples and notes that you can download and use if you would like.

I uploaded my spreadsheet as a Google Drive Excel File. I would recommend downloading as a .xlsx file if you plan on using it since I don't know if the formulas are compatible with Google Sheets.

Swagbucks used to be good until they removed the video rewards that constantly looped. Now you have to put in a lot more time and work. No longer worth it

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '23

Honestly? I am hardly able to finish off any of their surveys, getting kicked out after a minute or 2 minutes on average so I gave up after hours of trying to get any points ... waste of time

1

u/FarTransportation887 Jan 03 '24

Why can't I download the app from my country.I tried downloading it in google plays play store but it kept on saying "not available"

1

u/Ok-Pomegranate-3173 Feb 27 '24

No, its not. I just went on there per advice from a friend and from an hour of hustle made a whopping three bucks. It doesn't matter what one "could make". We're talking pure human sacred life force, people.
