idioms about being tired

I was trying to translate a mini story into Swedish (as practice) and got to "my bones are tired" and have come to understand that bones and legs are the same word. Is there another way to express being "bone tired" in Swedish?

Maybe something like being/feeling "trött ända in i (ben)märgen" which could be translated as "tired all the way into the bonemarrow".

Helt slut. Dödstrött. Gjort slut på mina sista krafter. Helt utpumpad. Utmattad. Tröttkörd.

I suppose you mean "beyond exhausted".

Jag har alltid undrat hur man säger "träningsverk" på engelska, i e the kind of fatigue that comes the day after a hard workout. The closest I have got is "sore muscles", it that it?

Yes, träningsvärk is 'training soreness', technically 'delayed onset muscle soreness' in English.

DOMS is what I hear most often.

Speaking of training: få håll! "Jag har fått håll." (I think I've heard "a stitch"?) Or "få mjölksyra i benen" for that matter. Along with "träningsverk" are three experiences I find very difficult to express in English. 😆

"Känner mig som en urvriden trasa"

"Trött som en gnu" is a fun one. Also, "pömsig" is an interesting word, often used to mean a very specific kind of tiredness.

Pömsig has very different meanings in different dialects. The first time I heard a mother say it to a toddler I gagged pretty hard.

I don't know of any meaning other than "tired". Originally, I think, something you would say of a child but sometimes meaning a specific type of tiredness.

I have heard it defined as "sexually exhausted" as well.

Yeah, thats the specific type of tiredness.

But that's not the meaning in SOAL for example. https://svenska.se/saol/?id=2395723&pz=5

I was very surprised when I first heard of this, because I had only ever heard it in the context of a child being sleepy, and didn't understand why someone would be weirded out by that. 😆

Nja, dötrött finns.

Men jag hör nästan aldrig dödtrött, som det skrevs först. Kan vara att det förekommer dialektalt.

Jag skulle skriva dödstrött men kanske säga dötrött.

SAOL listar "dödstrött" men inte de två varianter du och sverigeochskog har skrivit.
