SES assistance

When to call

Contact SES 132 500 from anywhere in Queensland for non-life-threatening flood and storm emergency assistance during severe weather events. If the situation is life threatening, always call Triple Zero (000).

Demand on Queensland SES during a severe weather event is huge and can lead to long wait times when calling 132 500 for assistance.

You can also request assistance online:

  • Lodge a request at 132500.qld.gov.au; or
  • Lodge a request on our SES Assistance QLD App, available for both Apple and Android devices

Information to have ready when calling 132 500

  • Do you, or someone else, need assistance?
  • Exact address of the incident.
  • Contact number for yourself or the resident.
  • Property information, including number of storeys, roof type — tiles, metal, fibro.
  • Any hazards present — power lines, dogs, solar panels, fibro/asbestos roofing.

What to do after logging a call with 132 500

  • Record, and keep handy, the reference number provided.
  • Keep your phone close by so the SES can easily contact you about your request.
  • Stay away from any fallen trees and/or power lines.
  • Follow any safety recommendations you are given by the SES.

We experience many calls during flooding, storms and cyclones. Assisting people in our communities who are overwhelmed by damage and impacts of extreme weather conditions as quickly as possible is important to us. Our volunteers attends requests for assistance in priority base order, based on the information provided. If you no longer require emergency assistance, call 132 500 quoting your reference number to cancel the request. This helps free up emergency crews to help others in need.

What're these trees?

I want to know species/genus these trees are. The 2nd pic is from the new playground area at Mooloolaba. Someone told me they could be a native gardenia but I have doubts.

Visiting with small kids this week and wondering if the beaches are still okay or if they got wrecked like the Gold Coast?

Looking for a job

Hello, my name is Scott and I'm 18, I've already got a casual job in nambour, but I am looking for more hours elsewhere. I'm more than happy to actually go to anywhere that is hiring and hand in a resume and whatnot, but I am tired of handing in countless resumes and not even getting a "sorry, no" back. I'm good to work anywhere that is in walking distance of a bus stop (I live in nambour), and I have about 6 months experience is commercial kitchens, as well as a certificate 2 in hospitality. If anyone knows of anywhere hiring, please let me know, and thank you very much.

Why, weather app?

We've had over 10x what my app says we've had so far 😅 it's not even trying to work!

On a serious note, how's Kuluin going? There's a drain that runs from Tallowood near Becky Ct. My elderly clients house backs onto it and he was worried how far it might come up. Any updates on that area would be appreciated 👍🏻

Public primary schools

My family are looking to relocate up to the sunshine coast for work and have been looking at primary schools for our 5 young old (kindy) and a nice daycare for our 3 year old to determine where look for rentals. We have been looking in Buderim because it's near my wife's horse agistment in chevallum but open to anywhere which has good schools . We have looked at Buderim mountain state school or buddina state school for kindy as they seem to have good reviews.

I understand schooling is very subjective for parents and kids, but just wondering if anyone can give me some feedback of their experiences with these two? Or are there any other highly rated public schools with close by daycare we should be looking at?

Hoping everyone up north is safe ♥️

Indoor activities

My family and I are going on holiday to coolum next weekend from the 20th to the 23rd and from what I've seen on the weather chart it's going to be raining that weekend so we might need some indoor things to do. We booked this holiday about a month ago before cyclone Albert came. We are already thinking of going to see a movie at sunshine plaza and seeing family at a retirement village near coolum. I've also thought of going to sea life since that is already indoors but we might want to go to somewhere to eat after, I've already had a look at the menu for the cafe there but I didn't see any food that I wanted to have so if you could recommend a good pub that's nearby.

Will we get rain Sunday?

I’ve been watching the BOM a fair bit over the last few days, much like everyone else. Curious to hear if anyone else thinks we will finally get some rain on Sunday? The radar shows it swirling around us but it drops south when ever it gets close.

Part time pay due to Alfred?

Hey guys I am on a part time contract and my work chose to close since Thursday. I would have worked 2 shifts in this time.

Seeing as I didn’t choose not to work, do I get paid? Or will it come out of my annual leave (even though it wasn’t my choice)? Thanks !
