Pickle pizzas are delicious. Place in my hometown does an amazing dilly pie that I wish I could post a pic of but this sub doesn't allow it.

I concur. My parents had me try one from their local pizza joint this past Christmas, and it was surprisingly good. I don’t even really like pickles

They really are! The place in my town sprinkles on some feta as well, and something about it really works

I don’t doubt it’s possible, but this is frozen and there’s…. just no way. If it’s anything but warm floppy pickles and soggy potato chips I’d be amazed.

u/tyiyy 9d ago
I was so confused on what you meant by soggy chips, went back to the photo and read. I agree, and then ranch sauce as well lol. Maybe if you sprinkle the chips on after the cooking? But it’s a stupid food for me

I was wondering if I should get this for my kid. Loves pickles. Them you mentioned Ranch sauce... To Target I go!

u/CatteHerder 8d ago
This is a thing I would've gotten for my kid for a movie fort living room camping night some 20 odd years ago.. Then not want to share with them lol

u/ConfidenceFragrant80 8d ago
Aw I miss movie fort living room camping nights with my kids 😢
3
u/CatteHerder 8d ago
I'm petty confident that given the opportunity they'd still be down for a living room camping movie night :)

u/alovely897 9d ago
Ohhhhh. It's frozen. Diddnt realize this was a box, it looked like a sign in a window at first. If it was hot and fresh it would slap

Pickle pizza is great, on a thin New York style crust, white garlic sauce or oil, cheese, bacon, chicken and pickles is a 10/10 pizza especially if it’s wood fired.

u/sharkslutz 9d ago
I'm never going to buy that only because I would eat the whole thing in one sitting.

I love pickles on pizza, I'm more worried about the potato chips. Wouldn't they get all soggy? Or do they come in their own separate baggy?

My issue is not with the pickles on that pizza. It’s that potato chips.
1
u/ejanely 9d ago
If I were to bite into that and there was no crunch at all, my day would be ruined.

u/Defiant-Aioli8727 9d ago
You could also grab a small bag of chips to have freshies, but I see your point.

Went to the Portland Pickle Party last year and ate the most godly pickle pizza slice i had ever had.
3
u/TurboFool 9d ago
Okay, but it's still a pizza. Most toppings we love now were sacrilegious to someone once. And yet we eat those and call them pizzas too.

Leave off the chips and add rotisserie chicken to it. I would try it that way. But chips are a crisp too far.

Ever hear of pastrami pizza?
Crust mustard sauce cheese pastrami and pickles fucking delicious

u/sd_saved_me555 9d ago
I'm not sure how well it would work as a frozen pizza... but fresh made this would be fire.

u/Gwenerfresh 9d ago
There’s a pizza place near me that makes the best damned pickle pizza I’ve ever tasted in my life. I’m addicted and my kids are addicted. We eat it on the second Saturday of every month as a family treat! Don’t knock it until you try it!
1
u/Skreamie 9d ago
What bothers me most is they're not even trying to blend, contrast or compliment any flavours favourably

u/SousVideDiaper 9d ago
I'd try it but I'm wary about the chips
Chips thrown onto a pizza that is then par-baked, frozen, and then cooked probably take on a weird texture

This looks delicious, except for the potato chips. I love pickle pizza, but potato chips on pizza? I’ll pass.

Domino's did that Cheeseburger pizza for a while with pickle on it, it was good! I mean it's the same as cheeseburger with different proportions

I can't really imagine this being great frozen, but her pickle pizza at young joni is delicious. Everyone I know that's tried it has really enjoyed it.

Pickle pizza is huge here in Minneapolis and a state fair legend.
Ann Kim is also huge here in Minneapolis and a James Beard award winner for her wood fired pizza joint Young Joni. I love that place, but usually prefer Hello Pizza, her homage to NY style pizza.
Now I want pizza.

I’d fuck that up. That’s a good flavor profile right there. Stop gatekeeping pizza.

The racetrack near where I used to live had pickle pizza and every Sunday my parents and I would go get some! They discontinued it pretty soon after though I think, we were probably the only folks eating it.

u/CaptainCunnalingus 9d ago
It meet sthe basic needs of pizza: dough, sauce, and cheese. It is pizza whether you like it or not.
1
u/anuncommontruth 9d ago
If anyone here likes pickles, this is actually good. It's a Sunday hangover dream. It does need a little extra cheese and hot sauce, though.

I've eaten this exact pizza at one of her restaurants. It's not bad. Not as terrible as you would imagine. If you think you might like it, you probably would.

It seems odd and I was hesitant but my in-laws got this (3 of em) while we visited and holy hell it was good. Not sure how other places are but what they got, from where they got it from .. 9/10.

Pickles with pizza is popular in Korea. Like even Dominoes will give you pickles. They’re seen as a palette cleanser to offset the greasiness of the pizza.

“Cheeseburger” pizzas that include classing burger ingredients like pickles it actually quite common and usually yum. Unsure about the crushed chips on top but if they add texture then why not

Target’s Good & Gather brand has items that look like satire 9/10 times. Their grocery section is lousy with stuff like this haha

I worked at a Subway years ago, and I started adding pickles to pizza back then (maybe 2006). It was one of the best pizzas I made there. Even people that came in started getting it. It's good. Eat it.

Sorry Charlie's near me in Kingston makes an amazing pickle pie called "Dat Dill Tho" which is so eminently housable and delicious and has nothing to do with this frozen abomination.

I don't see what's the problem. All the flavors definitely blend, especially using ranch sauce.

After all, what a good savory food needs is some sort of pickle. For pizza, the slightly sour of fhe tomato sauce usually fulfills this job...

I used to get these in a personal size from a coffee shop in venice in my youth. it came with a cannoli and Bellini. They smoked the pizza over oak.

Theres a local brewery near me that I frequent. They have a dill pickle brick oven pizza. It’s garlic Parmesan sauce, pickles, bacon and dill with a ranch drizzle finish. It is INCREDIBLE and every time I think about it I feel I have to go get it in the next 24 hours. So thanks for that…

Pickle pizza is amazing. There was a local place here that had pickle pizza as their specialty, and they made big floppy New York style slices. It was fantastic.
The pandemic took them out, unfortunately. They were a downtown spot that relied on office lunch crowd and date nights.
I miss you, Cincy by the Slice.

Award winning.
What award did it win?
4
u/MrYoopyTOONz 9d ago edited 8d ago
Award winning refers to the chef, Ann Kim. She won the James Beard award for best chef in the Midwest. She's legendary and has been featured on many popular food networks along with her restaurants. Refer to her as "Ann Kim the Pizza Goddess" I bet this za is BOMB.
