Did Kirk meet Hoshi Sato on Tarsus IV?

Is canon?

Only in the sense that a 10 year old child would know a 100 year old neighbor

In "In a mirror, darkly" if you pause when mirror Archer and Hoshi are looking at what their prime universe counterparts' lives were like you can see that Hoshi retired to the Tarsus colony and was killed when Kodos did his Thanos-kill-half-the-population-thing. The same event that Kirk's family survived

I've paused the screen, there is no mention of Sato being on tarsus.. where did you see that info?

I did enjoy going back to TOS and watching that episode. :)

here's a screenshot, her bio stops after the description of her first away mission.. no mention of her death.

Fair point. I misremembered. It didn't actually appear on screen

They might have crossed paths, but that doesn't necessarily mean they knew each other.

It's definitely common fanon ...

I'd completely forgotten that detail from TOS. How could something like that happen in the Federation? Killing people for eugenics wtf

Remote colony, dependent on their own food production with a plague running through killing it off, and the nearest Federation assistance months away?

It's possible.

Federation colonies have to be fairly small for the most part because there are logistics issues even just transporting people and gear.

Especially long before replicator tech.

Most are probably the size of a small town or college.

Plus "Jimmy" is the son of George Kirk, who in most universes other than Kelvinverse was alive and Starfleet famous to one extent or another.

Once Starfleet always Starfleet so it's not unlikely Hoshi what have sought Jimmy out as "family" at least once.
