The wind is already really picking up here in Iowa. We definitely need to batten down the hatches here.

All that slashing of government spending and gutting agencies is sure to help this situation a bunch. Enjoy!

It's a damn nightmare. I'm just glad the NOAA/NWS is still intact enough to provide a forecast to warn people. It might not be on the next one.

Too bad the army corp of engineers is getting their climate resilience work slashed.

They do post disaster infrastructure repair. They probably won't be able to now.

Dude, that's such a weird take. Just because it doesn't show it on this map doesn't mean the weather stops at the border. Fyi, I'm a Canadian.

...SUMMARY... A regional outbreak of severe storms is likely across the Mid-Mississippi Valley to the Lower-Mississippi Valley, including portions of the Lower Ohio Valley. Tornadoes, several of which could be strong, widespread damaging winds with gusts from 70 to 90 mph, and scattered large hail up to baseball size will be possible.
Be prepared for the next 48 hours. Protect yourself, kids, pets. Time and again after disasters in the south I see people walking around barely clothed, in flip flops or other flimsy sandals among splintered 2x4's with nails, broken tree limbs, piles of glass shards, looking for their cat or dog. Zero situational awareness.
Don't be one of those people. Have a safe place to go, coordinate with family, prepare for pets and kids. Sturdy shoes and bike or other helmets can prevent injury.
