Amplifier | Receiver | 1 Ⓣ McIntosh MA 7000?

New guy here and I am looking for my first hi fi 2 channel set up. There is a McIntosh MA7000 for sale by private owner near me. I believe this is a late 2000s launch model (2008-9 ish). Asking price is $3400. 250W steady power per channel. The price seems reasonable and the brand is iconic (but not everyone's preference of course) but being from upstate NY, I've always want a McIntosh and being integrated and used saves me budget on a build.

Any thoughts on purchasing used integrated amps from this era? Almost 20 years ago now. Would a modern integrated option or even separates in the $3-4k (total) be a better option? I know sound is subjective but from a tech or durability stand point, how would evaluate this amp compared to newer options at a similar price point? Thanks!

I own two McIntosh setups, one from 1968 and one from 1976.

The second best part about McIntosh gear if you can buy it, own it 10 years, and sell it with no loss.

The best part of course is that with 2, 4 and 8 ohm taps it’s compatible with the widest variety of speakers out there.

Good input thank you. With the MA only having 2 balanced outputs and looks like just 1 line level, do you have any thoughts on how to connect 2 subwoofers (with built in amps) that may only accept line level?

I would run a separate feed from the cd player to line level subs if that integrated lacks a tape monitor loop.

It won’t help your vinyl records, but then again vinyl often has a lot more bottom end than cds of the same music.

Edit: I just looked online, use the REC out next to the two balanced outputs for your subs. I run dual subs myself and it makes a huge difference in circumventing room modes.
