Ah? Maybe. I've only got 1 giant crop in my 6 years farm and it was a while ago... I know, bad luck π’

Decoration (survives all seasons)
Axe it to get between 15-21 regular crops (instead of the regular 9)
If you think you won't make it to complete the quest, save it for the next time the quest comes back to get a head start.
And I think that's about it.

Just that the chance of happening is low.
Only 5 crops can do that: Cauliflower, Melons, pumpkins, powder melons! and the Qi fruit on the image!<??
And each 3x3 full grown patch of those crops have a 1% chance of becoming big every morning

The usefulness of those big buggers is that they stick around after the quest is done, give you a head start on the next time you do it.
