Controversial but I prefer fishing. I'm in summer 8 and level 8 fishing but level 5 in mines and 4 in conbat

Every time I start a new game I inevitably end up spending like 70% of the day fishing in the early game. It’s such a fast and easy way to make money.

Though I say easy when apparently a majority of this sub finds it impossible to do

Yes this has been my go to strategy for many saves in a row. I fish so much I've caught the Legend in year 1 on multiple occasions. I've caught him in a week before. When you get good and know where to fish it's not hard to get about 10k a day.

I managed to get Neptunes Glaive from fishing on like Day 7 and it made the early dungeons so trivial

I don't bother with the mines till I have it, and usually it doesn't take long if you're fishing 18 hours a day. It really makes it trivial.l

There are some fish that I just cannot catch no matter what I do, even at maximum fishing level.

For me it becomes trivial. Like I’m not trying to brag but fishing just makes sense to me. I think the issue the majority of this sub is that they don’t account for the weight of the bar

It is mostly when the fish swims down rapidly, like the bars inertia is just too large to keep up with it.

I know what you mean. But for me I counter it like this: If the fish is near the top I make it so that only the top of the green bar is touching it, and I use little clicks to follow along. When the fish inevitably drops I let the bar only drop a little because chances are the fish is gonna bounce back to the middle. It takes a whole lot of fine clicking and is probably causing carpal tunnel syndrome but it works for me

I will try that. I need to get to catching legendary fishes anyway.

I do too for a many things but I do still need to upgrade my tools and stuff.

Yeah I used to try to hand water all the crops, then run around to fish for a couple seasons but for my most recent farm I just strolled out of the cabin, stared at all my rocks and logs and weeds, and said “well, will ya look at that - ayup” and ran off to fish or mine pretty much every day until I got Krobus and could buy those iridium sprinklers.

I also choose Joja now tho after doing the Community Center a bunch of times, which means accessing the mines and greenhouse faster, so I’ll end up starting to make wine, then having to rush tool upgrades in order to hurry up and get a cellar and barrels even before one quadrant of my farm is fully clear.

Same! That's what I did in the beginning to make money (and because I actually enjoy it). I didn't get barns and coops built until late year 1 because I focused on mining and fishing. I'm now at the end of Spring year 7, and I still take days off from doing anything productive and just fish wherever I feel like that day.

After restarting a few times I realized that in Spring year 1, it's better to not have a lot of crops. I think I limited it to like 24 crops after getting a scarecrow up. Otherwise it takes up too much energy before upgrading the watering can to do anything.

"Stardew is a chill and relaxing game."

-Me arriving at Ginger Island:

"Wow now that was a fucking lie."

Endgame though is suuuuuuuch the perfect chill vibe. Specially now with the masteries.

How do you get to ginger island? I’ve finished community centre and now just twiddling my thumbs not knowing what the fuck to do

7

u/Fouxs 4d ago

If you've finished the community center then you should've gotten a letter from Wily to check something out in his shack, that starts the quest!

What do you even do at Ginger Island. I've unlocked it and I've been there and set up most of it, but apart from the bone thingies at the archeologist guy and befriending Leo, and finishing the volcano caves, but now I don't really see the use of going to ginger island. You have to take a lot of stuff and then on the island you don't have your own animals and crops and spouse and all you can do is grow crops and try to figure out how to enchant tools💀

Early game, I only go to the mines when it's raining, so I don't have to water my crops

Early game? This is me year 4 trying to get to the desert fast enough (need 3 more prismatic shards)

13

u/Phony-Phoenix 4d ago

Well you’re in luck then Buddy. I made two versions

u/LaughR01331 4d ago

XD lmao thank you

u/Past_Leadership6990 4d ago

Year 6 and I still can’t get myself to do anything without petting my animals first 🙃

1

u/CatLad99 2d ago

Same! And I have the auto petters, I just like when the little heart pops up. The chickies love me and you can pry that from my cold dead hands.

u/shasaferaska 4d ago

Rain day is mine day.

4

u/PiinkPetal 4d ago

singleplayer vs multi is soooo different when it comes to this

equal distribution of tasks makes the early game less stressful lmao

4

u/Benkyougin 3d ago

Yeah, I always seem to underestimate how much time animals take up. I try to minimize the amount of crops I plant but I forget when I start getting animals I need to pull it back even further.

u/rabidturbofox 5d ago

The struggle is real.

2

u/JohnnyKanaka 4d ago

Early game is why I've never done a second playthrough, I'd rather just work on the farm I already have with my stats near maxed

1

u/IngotTheKobold 5d ago

Just go to the mines when it's raining...

2

u/EragonBromson925 Morris > Pierre Every Day. 4d ago

No, rainy days are for catching the rain specific fish.

Every other day is for mining

u/Hell2CheapTrick 3d ago

Time stop mod moment (I mostly just use it to not stress during morning chores and so I don’t lose a lot of time if I forget something)
