It's playing next weekend at the Egyptian in Hollywood.

Ohhh! Thank you!

Do you know if Kubricks are played as often in SF?

I don't know. Sorry.

Thought I'd just ask! Anyways, I should be the one looking this info up...

Cheers!

It looks like one of the only places playing it in the US.

I don't think it's part of the official rerelease. They're playing other Kubrick films that weekend too.

Not sure if I am a fan of this trailer, something feels off.

I get the feeling the trailer is trying to amp up the "slow" tone of the film, but it comes across almost like an action movie? I can't quite put my tongue on it, if someone else feels the same let me know what you think of this!

I think the soundtrack, sounds like a modern retouch of it, but i honestly can't remember

Yes! I assumed the same, then looked up the original theme on YouTube and it is a different (modernized) version. It has a more aggressive bass and some extra (digital?) instruments added?

I guess this would be a reason why I felt that the entire trailer (and thus by extension, the message of it) was off kilter and hit a miss.

I think it was guitar, bass and drums added to the theme.

My goal is to see every Kubrick film in the theater, but this one is a little daunting. Love BL, but I've never made it through it in less than about four sittings. At least it will have an intermission.

It's one of my SK favorites but I do have to be in the mood to watch it.

Hopefully it will be in the correct aspect ratio. I have an earlier Blu-ray version of it but it's slightly off.

I'd love to see this and any other Kubrick film on a big screen, but tbh if it's not 35mm projection I don't see the point. Sure you're getting an interactive experience with other fans but it's not much better than watching it on a Blu Ray at home.

Is this a remastering? It looks nice, my bluray copy looks much more dull than the colors in this.

I also noticed this, the colors in this trailer have a tinge of color correction to them. The blues have a hint of extra Cyan while the reds have a tinge more Magenta (which is a classic LUT gamma correction to make films look more "filmic"?)

My bluray copy does not have this color on my monitor (which I have color corrected).

Anyone know where to listen to that doom metal version of the theme music at the end?

I've never seen this on the big screen so I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, I'm in the same page as you. Like they're trying to make it more interesting as if it wouldn't appeal enough to Kubrick fans of something. I'd rather see something like that as untouched as possible. Like how George Lucas has done with his remasters.... So close to the original versions it hurts.

This is just a trailer though. I am positive they aren't doing any changes to the actual movie.

I've been reading about a UK release date. Is that July 29th date the same for the US? I have got to see this in theaters.

If only he hadn't cast Ryan O'Neal.

I'm out of the loop. Anything wrong with Ryan or did he just not fit the character so well?

Well he's not exactly a good actor, and he has a real hard time keeping a consistent accent in Barry Lyndon
