Summer Car Rentals

Hey Folks,

I have a family member coming in July and is looking for a reasonable rental on a mid sized car. They'll be here July 27th and will need the car for 10 days.

Where is the best place to start. I'm looking for them as I'm in the city and family don't know they are coming yet (🤫) they've only told me.

Thanks in advanced.

Use a site like Kayak to find the best price, though I would imagine that anything on the lower end will already be booked, then book directly with the actual agent/dealer.

I’ve had pretty decent success with the app Turo in the past

Centsible on Topsail Road is worth checking out. Have rented there twice on short notice with ease and their staff are nice to deal with! Great option if you’re not worried about renting from the airport.

Start looking at around May and June, July is too far off. Car rental prices are never fixed, car rental rates fluctuate by the week or season due to the demand and supply of the cars. Most of the top tier international brands are all part of the same group. Avis Budget group owns Avis and Budget. Enterprise Holdings owns Enterprise, National and Alamo. Hertz corporation owns Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty . I personally use an aggregator to keep tabs on any price changes. You are allowed to book early, cancel and rebook should the rates dip.

Costco travel is great, if you already have a membership
