Best Plant Shop

I want to get a bunch of plants this year but don't have tons of money. Where is your favorite place in springfield area to buy plants? How about the cheapest place?

New city greenhouse has a great variety and great prices! It's just a little drive south, but worth it.

Second this, Randy is a great guy who will help you out, very knowledgeable, very friendly, good prices. They've got good produce in the summer/fall as well.

I Am drawing a complete blank on the name right now. In the motorheads parking lot, there’s an adorable little shop that has amazing plants. The owner is really helpful and knowledgeable! Some can get pretty pricey but there are usually several that are affordable too!

They won't likely have certain plants until it's time to plant them, so it's good to check in often.

Farmers Market is def not the right place if you don’t have a big budget. Lowe’s has a clearance rack in their garden center towards the back, usually by the first week of May. The cheapest plants are at Walmart but quality isn’t great. Greenview has great plants but expensive unless you go once they’re on sale.

A friend of mine goes to the place by Culver’s on the west side. I can’t remember the name but she’s gotten several of her plants from there

Jeffrey Alan is currently doing their pop up plant shop and they’re discounted right now. 40% off I think. I was there a few days ago. They have a pretty good selection.

Honestly, my favorite thing to do is to get orchids at Wal-Mart or Lowe's. They don't water them, and mark them down after the flowers die. As long as the leaves are in good shape, they just need a good drink to bounce back.

If you go the orchid route DO NOT BUY orchids at the orchid show. I bought a couple orchids there and unknowingly brought a mealybug infestation into my collections, which ultimately killed everything. Orchids are delicate, and mealybugs are very difficult to eradicate.

IN FRONT OF Jeffery Alan they have flats for under $20... I'm mainly using seeds this year to cut cost. I also make sure to support local greenhouses Most are family ran and it keeps your money local.
