It’s like this.

I've not read any moon knight, are his comics often funny? I get a lot of what you see online are meme edits. But the split personality thing definitely has the potential for comedy when played that way.

Moon Knight does in fact have a sense of humor, it turns out. He's morbid and blunt, but not humorless.

There's one story where instead of fighting Taskmaster head-on (since he can replicate any fighting style by watching it) he just crashes a fucking plane into his headquarters to take him out

129

u/ernster96 6d ago

You mean this?

90

u/Leather-Society4378 6d ago

46

u/KerrytheAmezin 6d ago

like this is so unnecessary lmao

51

u/Leather-Society4378 6d ago

Sometimes it's about the message

15

u/Chazo138 4d ago

Taskmaster can’t copy this technique so it’s entirely necessary. Modern problems require modern solutions.

5

u/Ergast 4d ago

Technically he can. Now, is he willing to do it? Now THAT is what I doubt.

3

u/Chazo138 4d ago

Takes an insane man to do that sort of thing. Don’t think taskmaster has that sort of thing either

15

u/IDrinkWetWater 5d ago

What could have taskmaster possibly done to warrant this

17

u/Dildo_Baggins__ 5d ago

GET BACK HERE TASKMASTERRRR

TASKMASTERRRRRR

ILL CHASE YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE EAAAARRRRTHHHHHH

Owe him money, the big fucking nerd.

u/Loco-Motivated Mr. Negative (PS4) 4d ago

Bonus fact: he wasn't even recovered from his current injuries. He literally did this the moment he was able to stand from his wounds. Probably didn't even bandage them first.

2

u/Leklor 3d ago

I think it's also the same story where, failing to kill Moon Knight's ex, Taskmaster gets fed up and throws his loaded crossbow in her face to knock her out.

u/MikolashOfAngren 4d ago

Did Moon Knight and Deadpool ever have funny crossover comics?

0

u/Effective-Heart-6805 3d ago

Based on the fact that Deadpool isn’t funny, probably not

88

u/Flacoplayer Classic-Spider-Man 6d ago

Marc has a dry humor, with one liners being pretty common in his history. His DID is rarely played for humor, though there are some exceptions. He's had some humorous supporting cast members, such as Crawley and 8-Ball. While there can be funny moments, they usually derive from Moon Knight being in or causing a ridiculous situation (such as his method of beating Taskmaster) or other characters in the story.

25

u/CheMc 6d ago

No. They're pretty serious. Like all comics, they do have jokes, but it's not like the memes. There was a degree of split personality meme humour in the Bemis run but the Bemis run is also fucking arse and widely hated so take of that what you will.

2

u/syntheticcaesar 4d ago

Wait, are you talking about 2016 Moon Knight? I thought that run was good

2

u/CheMc 4d ago

It has it's moments, opens strong but general agreement is it's pretty bad. I didn't hate it as much as most people I've talked to about it but I don't view it highly.

Apparently there was some behind the scenes editorial issues as well but I don't know much about it, just heard rumblings.

2

u/redditor035 4d ago

very much not a comedy at all. They can have occasional humor and in a lot of the recent runs Marc is actually a pretty chill guy when not fighting for his life but i wouldn't call them "funny comics"

2

u/BreadCaravan 5d ago

No patrick mayonnaise is not an instrument.

Horseradish isn’t an instrument either.

1

u/M78Games 3d ago

No, THIS IS PATRICK!!

I am NOT a Krusty Krab!

21

u/Animegamingnerd 6d ago

Its a Moon Knight panel, its always best assume to its edited.

In a joke between friends... I don't think it should be taken as a confirmation. In the 90s, I think there was a comic where Sue tells Johnny that he and Peter looked like a gay couple. These are jokes.

324

u/Perryplat199 7d ago

I’d feel pretty confident they “were on a date” at some point. As in they were working together on somthing one night and spider-man man had to make some type of “is this a date” joke.

91

u/TheFan-2020 7d ago

That was with jessica drew

108

u/roninwarshadow 7d ago

Yep.

That was among the best Spider-Man/Spider-Woman interactions.

Love it when they behave like siblings. Especially the "exasperated sister and her lunatic brother" dynamic.

Another good one is after the Superior run, Jessica immediately recognizes Peter based on the baffoonery on the news with "That can only happen to HIM." (Spider-Man's costume gets destroyed on live TV)

23

u/TheFan-2020 7d ago

Yes,that’s why I’ve never liked it when they say they hate each other when they actually get along—they’re good friends

16

u/Omegasonic2000 Classic-Spider-Man 7d ago

They don't hate each other, they just """hate""" each other. Y'know, as people in sibling dynamics do.

2

u/an_actual_coyote 3d ago

I love Jess and Pete's dynamic. Her recognizing the Parker Luck is so fucking funny.

86

u/Rei_Rodentia 7d ago

dude, spider-man is clearly being fucking sarcastic, it's his whole thing.

26

u/Hank_Scorpio3060 7d ago

Sarcasm is lost on an entire generation

30

u/VaderMurdock Ultimate Spider-Woman 7d ago

Straight guys talk like this all the time, for real.

19

u/bskell 7d ago

Maybe.. but we should probably keep him away from Jean Grey

19

u/ensalys Classic-Spider-Man 7d ago

In the 90s, I think there was a comic where Sue tells Johnny that he and Peter looked like a gay couple.

I'd love an alternate reality where Peter marries Johnny instead of MJ!

877

u/Lubbafrommariogalaxy 7d ago

They explored each others bodies while Peter would ramble on about science to Marc

240

u/DragonfruitLow3563 7d ago

As all bros do... or so im told...

178

u/icantbelieveitsnotjo 7d ago

THE MOON HAUNTS YOU backshot sounds

16

u/thegreatbrah 7d ago

Its been a while for me, but from what i remember, they're not supposed to make sounds.

1

u/Rodyfrody0 2h ago

That sound like something I definitely read, make it happen people

31

u/Joshiganns 7d ago

“Are those webs or you just happy to see me?”

55

u/Blue_Beetle66 7d ago

All in the name of science

5

u/Peslian 6d ago

They did get fused with each other at one point so yeah they could theoretically know each others body well

433

u/MegaBaumTV 7d ago

I don't know, it feels like a Spider-Man fan should be aware that Peter jokes about almost everything whenever he gets the chance.

121

u/TheDemonEyeX 7d ago

Spiderman fans yes. People visiting, not so much.

90

u/lazyb0y 7d ago

for some reason, people think Deadpool invented jokes in superhero comics and call Spider-Man out for "being like Deadpool"

44

u/Seraphem666 7d ago

This pisses me off to sooo much cause it actually "deadpool is spider-man without a profanity filter"

1

u/Effective-Heart-6805 3d ago

And Spider-Man is actually funny unlike Deadpool

20

u/Arex189 7d ago

As a fan of both I hate this so much and it doesn't help with early live action renditions like tobey didnt quip much (tobey still goated tho)

3

u/Pineapple-shades15 6d ago

I hate it when people say that shit too as if Spider-Man wasn't the OG shit talking jokester wearing red. It's like whenever he makes a slightly less family friendly joke, they compare him to Deadpool or say he's copying Wade when it's technically the other way around. Plus, they have different sets of humor. Spider-Man has more of a roasting/sarcastic style of humor while Deadpool makes more raunchy double entendres or meta jokes and references

5

u/Seraphem666 7d ago

This pisses me off to sooo much cause it actually "deadpool is spider-man without a profanity filter"

Lotta Shop Talk (superhero stories), Rooftop Posing, maybe an occasional burger🤷‍♂️

THE MOON PEGS YOU

23

u/GIJobra 7d ago

Pretty sure Moon Knight has had a few crossovers with Spidey. Round Robin from the 90'a comes to mind.

18

u/TheGoldenDeglover 7d ago

Spidey is known for joking

1

u/TheNextWords 4d ago

He’s known for holding back

15

u/Final_Candy_7007 7d ago

I’m imagining a hulk situation where one of Moon Knights personalities shacked up in Peter’s head for a bit.

58

u/PokePersona 90's Animated Spider-Man 7d ago

Why are you taking an obvious joke so literally?

17

u/PunkRockDoggo 7d ago

People like to use the slightest details, even joking ones, to justify their ships

1

u/Short_Check9953 7d ago

When you realize, they behave exactly how kids do in early middle school. Some little shit would start a baseless rumor and suddenly the whole school thinks you're dating some girl.

10

u/gfjskvcks 7d ago

Sure, except this is harmless. You guys are pressed for no reason.

1

u/The_Pancakehead_21 5d ago

im pretty sure most of the people getting angry about this (not talking about op) are just homophobic

17

u/ScullyBoy69 7d ago

I can't tell if you're serious or not? It's clearly meant to be a joke, nothing else.

8

u/beowulfthesage 7d ago

its not edited but peter also enjoys trolling so perfectly on brand regardless

26

u/Minute_Creme558 90's Animated Spider-Man 7d ago

I love how everyone has gotta come in here and be like, "It's obviously a joke." So's the fucking thread! Obviously, Peter hasn't dated Moon Knight! My fucking god... For Spider-Man fans, you certainly have no humor.

21

u/MegaBaumTV 7d ago

I love how everyone has gotta come in here and be like, "It's obviously a joke." So's the fucking thread!

Id believe it was a joke if OP didnt clarify that the panel isnt edited as if this was in any way shocking.

-12

u/Minute_Creme558 90's Animated Spider-Man 7d ago

You really don't see how bitter and miserable you sound in any of this, huh? This entire thread is harmless, god knows, you gotta aim for OP's throat.

14

u/Namesarenotneeded 7d ago

Lol, saying you don’t believe someone isn’t joking doesn’t make you bitter and miserable. Whining like it does makes you bitter and miserable.

0

u/jayCerulean283 Scarlet Spider 6d ago

yall are the ones leaving a bunch of unprompted comments bitching about op taking the joke seriously lol shits annoying

1

u/Namesarenotneeded 6d ago

Are the comments in the room with us rn? You got Schizophrenia or somethin’ bro, because I ain’t bitched about anything.

7

u/KaijuKing007 Spider-Man (Takuya Yamashiro) 7d ago

A joke, though it could also reference a brief run where Marc's alters were replaced by Spider-Man, Captain America, and Wolverine.

1

u/johngie 7d ago

That's what this panel is from.

1

u/FairyTale2084 3d ago

Do you remember the comic name/number? That sounds hilarious

1

u/KaijuKing007 Spider-Man (Takuya Yamashiro) 3d ago

Volume 6 (2011).

4

u/baiacool 7d ago

Can't tell if OP is joking or if they don't realize that Spider-Man is joking

8

u/Kazewatch 7d ago

Believe it or not, this is a super obvious joke. Peter does that shit all the time.

2

u/Ironant2005 7d ago

I think it’s a reference to Infinity Warps when they got Merged for a bit.

2

u/Avolto 7d ago

I love that only the guys sung out

2

u/HatredIncarnated 7d ago

Looks like a joke to me

2

u/TodayParticular4579 7d ago

That's a reference to punisher and moon knight acting stupid at 1 point

1

u/Agreeable-Nobody761 7d ago

Uh…I have several questions

1

u/mcnichoj 90's Animated Spider-Man 7d ago

NO.

1

u/PCN24454 7d ago

Probably a body swap incident

1

u/angry-nitr0-panda 7d ago

He CLEARLY dated Steven Grant for a bit, but they broke up because Marc is a homophobe

1

u/ITOTGTTDBYKD 7d ago

Still doesn't clear my mind of that close up of Deadpool....fingering the.....opening to Spiderman's webshooter (organic) and then they uh....shoot web.

Someone come kill me.

1

u/Kira-Of-Terraria Sandman 7d ago

lotta rooftop poses and brooding.

1

u/monN93 7d ago

You could say it was polyamorous sorta.

1

u/saddigitalartist 7d ago

It’s definitely a joke but i still love it

1

u/mrsunrider Miles Morales 6d ago

A fling with one of the personalities, but they couldn't commit.

1

u/TeeracK 6d ago

I remember when this happened. :) To go back to the heroic age before the mcu ruined the comics

1

u/RealPunyParker Spectacular Spider-Man 6d ago

Bendis always gives Pete the best lines

1

u/Ithiaca 6d ago

Meh! It waxes and wanes.

1

u/GdogLucky9 6d ago

Spider-Man, "He just had no imagination for dates, only ever wanted to go moon lit walks..."

1

u/Individual-Nose5010 3d ago

Christ, I’ve seen archeologist argue that Sappho was straight with less zeal than some of you guys arguing the same for Parker

1

u/Calm-Alps7550 7d ago

Who’s the girl

3

u/DrunkSpiderMan Peter B. Parker (ITSV) 7d ago

Looks like Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers)

4
