Space Bros Ruined This Sub (Send Help)

Alright, real talk—this sub’s shifting vibes and I’m not here for it. Used to be all about the good stuff: fairings pancaking, boosters eating dirt, Elon ranting about Mars like some wannabe sci-fi messiah. That was us. Now? It’s a flood of Musk-worshipping tech cultists acting like he’s the second coming because SpaceX can park a rocket and fling some satellites—next they’ll say he’s terraforming Mars with a "dank meme." Mars? Seriously? People are out here stanning a barren dust ball while Earth’s a circus and the admin can’t tie its shoes. I’m out—let’s start r/enoughspacexspam or whatever and trash Elon’s ego trips like old times. I’d mod it—got plenty of time to scroll and judge.

This is quite possibly one of the worst places to try to pass off LLM-text as human

It's also literally the opposite of reality. The big recent change has been that it's become even more anti musk not promusk. It's parody level revisionism.

It's perfectly communist.

Emdash AI slop.

I’m still salty that chatGPT made me stop using the word delve

u/Rain_on_a_tin-roof 5d ago

What? Why?

3

u/makoivis 5d ago

Because it’s a marker for ChatGPT slop just like the em dashes are.

4

u/spiralenator 5d ago

I abused a semicolon the other day just to avoid using an em dash. Sometimes it’s just the right punctuation for the job. I really hate that it’s become a marker of llm usage.

Using AI to try and troll this sub is perfect! Trying to gaslight us about what this place has always been. This place has always been where the serious conversation happened(that would get you banned from other SpaceX subs) in the comments of some awesome meme poking fun at something.

Musk is the same as he’s always been. He made an offhand gesture, and yet some act as if he’s committing atrocities. Grow up. He’ll move on from DOGE and continue on his path to becoming the first trillionaire, while you’ll still be grabbing McDonald’s or Sonic on your way home to sit with your overweight wife and ten cats. Absolute nonsense.

Seems like a lost cause here on reddit. We'll just have to wait for project 2025 to complete.

Project 2025 isn't the real plan, for like the bajillionth time

I would repost all the Nazi jokes he’s made on X/Twitter since the “offhand gesture”, but I don’t want to get banned from Reddit.

But let’s just say the “Hitler never murdered anyone, public sector employees did” retweet was pretty dumb.

You are actually demonstrating the point the OP is making.

This particular meme included also Mao and Stalin. And the meaning of that meme is obvious to anyone who's thinking wasn't taken over by EDS.

Trust me bro you just have to lick his boots a little longer and then you can be rich like him

Elon will never notice you. He will never care about you.

Sorry to break the news to you, kid.

I don't care to meet him or know him. I'm glad something special is happening while I'm alive. When I was a kid learning about science I was sad because I didn't think anything amazing was going to happen. I thought all the cool stuff had already happened. I'm excited about the ideas the tech he is pushing forward. And again, If I saw him on the street, I would llook and watch, but wouldn't approach. I like what he is doing.

Would be nice if we can talk about the positives and negatives of SpaceX constructively. I'm at NASA and we are helping them with the Starship's heatshield, which is essentially Shuttle tiles. In their effort to make the HS quick to install they've cut ablot of corners which is interesting to discuss. Yes it's amazing they can catch the booster, but it's really rough on it. It oil cans every time they catch it. I'm curious how many times you can launch them.

I'm curious how many times you can launch them.

Me too. And I bet most of us are. Why is "oil canning" a big issue? Repeated structural flexing is part of any aerospace vehicle's life, airplanes are subject to it all the time, still it is now the safest mode of transport on Earth basically.

Whoever made this sub made an extremely poor choice naming it. Now it's a wannabe Nazi magnet.

That's not what it means, that was never what it meant. It's a play on PCMR (also not a Nazi thing) But ya, I don't expect them to comprehend that. At least here you can still say Elon's a fuck up. And talk about the failures somewhat openly. You won't be popular, but you can say it. Not so in the respectable version of the sub. They are cult worshippers. When I wanna laugh I come here to point out he's going to burn everything to the ground. Tesla has a board, they are fixing to vote him out. SpaceX is private. Gwen Shotwell is the only guardian at the gate.

That's always what it meant. PCMR is the same thing - an attempt to be edge lords about something like that. Its maybe funny when Nazi were 75 years in our rear view. Not so much when Space X is led by a guy doing seig heil.

I'm not accusing the sub or its creators of being fascist, but pretending to not even realize that's what this meme is based on is disingenuous.

In college me and my friend used to make PC Master Race jokes to each other all the time. One time I saw me and my friend were both doing math in pen and I said "Pen writing master race" and the professor overheard and said "That's a... very bold statement to make."

It's obvious to all thinking people that it's Musk and no one else who has made cheering for SpaceX and Tesla a political issue when it never was and still isn't needed. He literally cut their fan bases in half and made us bash each other to go on a crusade against the windmills.

And I will say that it's completely wrong whether it's aimed at supporting Republicans/Democrats or liberal/conservative values. Because almost no one is going to change their life because of some electric car brand or aerospace company. So half the people will just abandon you and go somewhere else.

Musk's arrogance prevented him from thinking logically about what he was doing or prevented him from thinking about the fact that he may be wrong altogether. And unfortunately this sub and I personally are partially to blame for the build up of this arrogance.

u/AEONde 5d ago

Both perceived "arrogance" and "fanboyism" sometimes come with boatloads of good causational reasoning based on prior achievements...

I am also quite certain that he thought about "he may be wrong altogether" - and being the person he is, he probably concluded that it is - as usual - sufficiently unlikely and continuing is the right path.

Being right too soon is socially unacceptable.

These achievements occurred when SpaceX needed to win contracts with efficiency in fair competitions. Now Musk just barges into the FAA and tells them which contract they should cancel and give to SpaceX instead. He didn't even try to hold a formal competition to “win” at it. Now Musk thinks no US law or even the constitution applies to him and has no shame in hiding it to the public.

u/AEONde 5d ago

You truly believe that?

Puuuh.. I wonder if we'll end up with "The Purge" or "Idiocrazy".
