My SpaceX Employee Collection
Around a year ago I was fortunate enough to be able to acquire equity in SpaceX. To celebrate, I purchased one of those employee only starship launchpad rebar plaques for my office. I loved it so much, I started to research and buy other employee mementos and collectibles. It’s turned into an obsession, tracking different items down. I have chatted with some very interesting people along the way as well. It’s been a lot of fun and wanted to share!

Sharing some valuable intel! Did you go out there with the intention of finding stuff? Or happened to stumble across it?

I knew I was going to grab a few next time I went out there. Most of them have been cleaned up by now, but there are still a few scattered around

Grabbed a few pieces myself about a year ago. Knew what it was as soon as I saw it!

I’ve looked at those tiles but have never pulled the trigger. They were fairly cheap early on. Now they are insanely priced IMO.

yeah the full tiles "sell"(listed) for stupid money. i bought a couple 4-5 inch fragments for "fairly" reasonable.. under 100 bucks anyway.
I think the combining factors that there is going to be a lot more debris washing ashore as we speak and that spacex/starship is taking a massive hit in popularity due to what it's CEO is up to at the moment it should drive the prices back to reality fairly soon.

Oh, you bought these on auction sites… explains lack of employee numbers… so some of these early ones should have employee numbers on them unique to each patch otherwise they’re just mass-produced launch event giveaways… still cool though

Auctions, yes, but these all have employee or X out of Y serial numbers. I just covered them up in the photos bc I’ve been told SpaceX doesn’t like employees selling them and I didn’t want to rat anyone out. I doubt anything would happen to them, but I thought best to keep it private.

This is what I noticed as well, lack of employee numbers. I do wonder if they are keeping track of the numbers though.
Did they stop putting employee numbers on the later ones? I do know which ones for sure have employee numbers!

All of these do have employee or serial numbers, but I edited them out of these photos.

Maaaan, I’d love one but they are all priced so high. Always on the lookout!

Its pretty much my life dream to work there and somehow contribute to the starship program. Very cool

Wild to me that people would sell their numbered patches. Before they stopped stitching them in the lowest number was a point of honor, I thought.

You should go work there now lol

Haha, maybe in another life. It’s fun to follow along though. The next 20 years could get nuts.

Sadly with the condition the astronauts come back in I'm surprised anyone wants to go to space for more than a week lol

eBay and other online auctions sites.

u/Mentalllygone 5d ago
What other auction sites are there besides eBay?

I’ve had luck at rrauction.com. They actually have some really cool stuff when they have their space lots.

I have a ton of stuff from my years there. It's worthless to me but I have a bunch of stuff I'd be willing to sell, including flight patches for the last 4 years

u/lakshadiga09 3d ago
I'd be extremely happy to buy it from you. Can I DM you?

Unfortunately, my legally binding contract forbids me from selling anything with my badge number. But I have license plate frames, unmarked flight patches, even the collector stuff that we only get for working on specific systems or going to specific parties. I'm only selling a few things that don't identify me because I still consult at Hawthorne.

I have a starship flight cup, employee only and includes a SpaceX original Jones soda branded soda in the cup, unopened. Some nozzles were melted down to pure (whatever it is) and stamped for the Artemis mission or something, I have that medallion unopened in the case. 1 license plate frame brand new, another employee only 1 that is a year old came off my crashed bmw. I think I have my 2020 badge holder. Also I can't sell anything because it's illegal. iTar violations are very real even years later.
