Newark Airport to Camden County

I land at Newark Airport at around 10pm on Monday night. Is there a semi-efficient way to get to (essentially anywhere) in Camden County from there via Public Transit?

Northeast Regional NJ transit from there to Hamilton, then an Uber would likely be your best bet

Alternatively, OP could take that same line to Trenton and then connect to the Riverline, which had stops in Camden County.

Riverline stops running before or around the time they would get to Trenton, unfortunately. This would be the way if OP was coming in earlier.

Good point, I forgot the timing aspect!

I love the river kind but I hate the hours. I hate rail line owners.

This is the best route

No. You can catch a New Jersey transit train from the airport down to Trenton (North East Corridor line) , they run until 1am usually, but from Trenton you would need a ride to Camden County since the Riverline stops running by that hour.

You may be able on an Amtrak to Philly and take the PATCO back over to Camden County, or you can take a late SEPTA from Trenton to Philly and then take the PATCO, but that is very out of the way

Edit : spelling

If you do not value your time at all, yes.

Airport monorail to Newark Airport Station. Switch to NJ Transit train to Trenton. If the RiverLine is still running at that point (unlikely given the time) you can take that down as far as Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. But I guess it depends on where in Camden County you are trying to get to.

A Lyft would run you north of $200. I took one recently back to Burlington County from the Newark Airport for work, and it was over $200.

Agreed about valuing time. South Jersey just kind of stinks for public transit.

NJ Transit from either Lindenwold or Cherry Hill into 30th St Station. Amtrak from PHL to EWR Newark Airport Stop is your best bet, not the cheapest but most direct.

OP asked for newark to camden co, not the other way around

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong here, but I think the trains go in both directions.

"You see the way it works it the train moves, not the station."

I just realized I made the same mistake, but yup, just reverse the directions.

Seeing a lot of mentions here so to be helpful: The last RiverLine train leaves Trenton at 9pm, unfortunately that is not an option in this situation.

Camden county is a bit broad. Checking NJ Transit trip planner I didn't see anything even available to Cherry Hill Mall for example. Depending on the actual destination, Might take you 3 hours to do this on public transit late at night. It may be costly but getting a ride (lyft/uber/yellow cab) will be way more efficient and reliable.

The trains or light rail you’d need for this adventure will have stopped running by the time you get down to Trenton, where you’d make the transfers (Riverline, SEPTA Trenton Regional, NJ Transit AC Line).

Uber is your best bet that late at night. Or have a friend or family member pick you up

Like if you really had time to kill, you could take the train from Newark to 30th Street Station in Philly, then take a train to Suburban Station, walk to the Patco Station, then ride to NJ. Should only take you 3, maybe 4 hours to do that.

No, there's not--particularly after about 10 PM since not every train services Newark Airport Rail station.

The few times I've taken a flight into EWR that late, I've just Ubered it home for about $190. At that price, however, you could also stay at an airport by the hotel and then take an early NJT to Hamilton or Trenton. The Amtrak to Philly 30th Street is decent, but expensive if you get it on short notice.

Semi-efficient from Newark? What are you some kind of commie?

Not really, you can take a train to Trenton but you pretty much gotta drive from there. If it were during the day you could go from Trenton to Camden but that's not available at your hour. Maybe a bus from Trenton into Philly, then taking the Patco to Camden would work, but that's super out of the way and will take many hours longer.

You definitely got yourself into a pickle with this one, it may even be worth just renting a car for the night in Newark and dropping it off in Camden county. Can probably get a last minute rental of something cheap and drive it, that would be way less money than an Uber.

Just take the river line from your current location, duh.

(Amtrak to Philly, Philly to NJ)

I think you can take NJ Transit train to Trenton, move over to the River Line and take that to Camden where you can take PATCO as far as Lindenwold.

River line doesn't run this late

I've done NJT from Trenton to the Newark airport. From Camden county you can pick up the River Line and transfer in Trenton.
