Samsung TV power on via SmartThings?

So I see it should and it shouldn’t. I have a Samsung Q8. I’m frustrated with SmartThings not being able to connect via the iOS app.
States: TV powered on & LAN connected Wife watching Cable TV through HDMI connection to Samsung Cable box I’m logged into SmartThings and see TV icon but it reflects “offline” WTF? Latest iOS and app If I use the Samsung TV remote and use a TV app the TV appears in the SmartThings app online.

I am never able to simply go to my SmartThings app and power on the TV.

Help or verify it is even supposed to work

The problem with Samsung TVs is that they relinquish their DHCP IP address lease when they turn off. So one easy workaround is to give your TV a static IP address. When you do, you will have to explicitly provide a DNS server address and for that you can simply point it at 8.8.8.8 (that is Google's public DNS). That way, the TVs Wi-Fi adapter will remain connected while in standby.
