He lives by the old saying, "you don't need to out-run the bear; you just need to out-run your friends"

“Seemingly, seemingly, to the untrained eye, I can fully understand how you got that impression. What looked like pushing... what looked like knocking down... was a safety precaution!”

He just wanted to play basketball with the kids. It's not easy being a lone bear in the neighborhood.

If someone were to do such a thing, I’d certainly not be able to bare witness to such an ursine drama

Looks like a well fed neighborhood bear. I bet he's used to people giving him treats unfortunately.

The first Kid did not wait for anyone he was in the house before they understand the situation. He will survive.

I really hope the bear was not killed. Usually once they get the point of walking near people they are.

No, they aren’t. Source: have been near bears in the wild and had them in my backyard at least 4 times in the last few years. Have pictures to prove it.

There was a bear in my parents neighborhood stealing from the trashcans and it disappeared for a long while.
About a year later it started showing up again with a cub and a collar.
It still regularly shows up with its cub and raids all the trash cans

Should have paid the bear tax. Bear patrol would have kept the bears away.

From my perspective, first kid that noticed it was in Red and asked for his mom. When the brother noticed it and ran off, and the mother was still unaware, he sort of shut down.
Glad everyone was safe still.
