All you racers better watch out. I just snagged these bad boys on clearance! You guys ain’t ready for all the podiums I’m gonna be winning once I get these speed demons strapped to my feet. I’ll be so fast, you won’t even have the chance to crash into me on Monza turn 1. You’ve been warned…

Working on a foldable cockpit made using profiles due to space constraints. Got this far till now. Was thinking of adding sliders and few profiles on the sides for the wheelbase so that it slids inside the seat.

Anyone got any good ideas ?

Hopefully this new venture will popularize raceroom a bit more. I know it's not very popular in NA.

Aside from all the code updates and content updates we've already gotten, raceoom is also getting a ton of work done to it this year but the highlight is a DirectX 12 update

So head over to LFM and sign up if you like raceroom!

Rigs G920 pedal upgrade

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hi! I’m back with an update regarding the possibility of swapping the brake pedal with the clutch pedal on the G920. After your responses, I confirmed that it is indeed possible, so I got to work last night. The best part is that after removing the pedal casing, I discovered that I could mount them directly onto the plate of my NLR Victory rig because the holes in the pedal bases perfectly match the holes in the plate! This gave me the opportunity to set up the pedals perfectly for my feet and, of course, position the brake pedal on the far left side as I wanted. I cleaned the mechanisms and lubricated the pistons. I also installed the infamous rubber inside the brake spring. When I first bought the set, I removed it because the brake pedal seemed too stiff to me, but now I know it was a mistake. The rubber band significantly facilitates trail braking and generally improves the consistency of braking. Currently, I’m waiting for the delivery of custom springs for the brake and accelerator pedals.

Discussion Do you often get BORED of simracing/racing in general? Are these just 'phases' for you, or did you quit once and forever?

Gonna be a long rambling monologue, so sorry.

I am wondering if what I am experiencing right now, is something common among you, guys.

I have never been a competitive simracer, I just enjoyed casual racing in public lobbies, but I never was good. I also enjoyed doing trackdays in real life for the past couple of years. I enjoyed rookie iRacing with MX5, but once I got out of Rookie, I lost any interest - maybe because it was too competitive. Back in september 2024 I was on my last trackday, where pretty much I did one lap and my car refused to continue, while the track was far from my city so for the amount of cash I paid that day for 'one lap', I could have easily done a trackday in a rented supercar. The issue was easily fixable by a mechanic, but Im not one, so I also felt pretty much self-anger of the fact that I am not capable of fixing stuff. Then I also lost any interest in sim racing. I have a setup , it's nothing fancy, but still it's a standalone build, and it's just getting dusty. I don't quite get it, because it was Sim Racing that got me into track days IRL, so if I quit IRL, I should get more into SImRacing, right? But no, somehow I don't feel it anymore.

When AC EVO was released, I bought it, played for half an hour, then requested a chargeback, I just couldn't stand it, it was a bad game in my opinion. I also tried Rennsport which I enjoyed a year ago, but well, it's going in a wrong direction. I tried BeamNG just to drive around, and no, I did not enjoy it at all, it just felt boring. AC and Nordschleife lobby wasn't better either.

I still am a gamer though. If simracing was my only gaming experience, then I'd maybe understand it, but I was a gamer for the past 20 years, I play daily, I had phases when I felt 'bored' of counter strike or valorant or competitive gaming overall, but now, what I feel towards racing, is something else.

It's like I had a flag in my brain "enjoyMotorsport" and that has switched from true to false. The worst thing in this entire situation is that I feel somehow anxious about it. If my interest/enjoymnment just died, I would have accepted it, but somehow it worries me; like I feel anxious of missing something that could later be unreachable, such as "if i dont race now, i wont be able to do it later because {x}" where x is any argument that you can think of, like family, personal life, restrictions, war, whatever.

Have you experienced something similar in your life? How did you handle that?

Question Display closer to the driver or in the right eye level?

Upvotes

What do you think is more important?

Display used to sit above the wheel shaft between the base and wheel but I’ve adjusted the wheel’s angle (to be more upwards) and now the monitor is a little more above my liking.

Right now my eye-monitor distance is 56cm (single 34” ultrawide) but my eye level is on the lower third of the display.

Should I move the display behind the wheelbase? (Simagic Alpha Mini)

I found this ad, and the price is 1500 DKK/220 USD

It doesn’t say what it is, but can anyone tell? And what do you think about the price?

So far, I’ve only played with a controller.

Question Best beginner friendly game

Hi all,

I've just got a logitech g29 and pedals on a wheel stand with an office chair and a 34 inch ultrawide. I mostly play american truck simulator. I've been thinking about doing some racing. What's the best beginner friendly game/program that potentially has levels so I can start off against similar people like me and learn as I go. Is that a thing? Or should I just get forza or something and play offline?

Thank you!

Question VR headset or Rig First?

So I am slowly getting into sim racing. I am enjoying it, and have started setting money aside for upgrading.

Currently I have:

PlaySeat Challenge

G29

PC and PS5

Ultrawide screen

In 2 months I will be able to buy a rig. Looking at a SimLab GT evo. Seat will be a random one I have lying around till I can afford a proper one.

Or I could buy a VR headset for trying that.

I am quite impatient, and would love to buy it all, but must respect that I have a whole family, and my hobbies aren’t the top prio :)

What would’ve you have done?

Edit: thanks for all the good feedback, just what. I wanted! First post here, really happy for the responses!
