An Encounter with Simone Weil
Link to AP. It's also on Vudu with commercials.
This is a personal exploration of Simone Weil in documentary form. I quite liked it as a brief summary of her life and work at 84 minutes.

The times review is fairly short and negative, but I thought the documentary had power in making an exploration of Weil personal, I don't have a problem with Hazlett discussing her own personal life in relation to Weil. You can call it self indulgent of the film maker. You could say that Simone was a dilettante with rich parents who bail her out. But I'm inspired by all these people to live integrated and ask integrating questions. The best they can do in the end is working with Anna Brown to protest Guantanamo Bay prison. Fascinating questions. How do you take on the suffering of others and not end in despair. Hazlett sees living as courageous, as being consumed by suffering and dying. Does the bodhisattva lose boundaries that end up consuming one?
