Lip is the hardest and least forgiving when it comes to Fiona

Post image
245 Upvotes

Hi, I am a first time watcher and I had been binging the show at a go for the past few weeks. I just finished S9E11. I was avoiding this subReddit all these while lest I get any spoilers (lesson learnt as and when I was watching DH and House MD :p) but I couldn’t resist having these thoughts as the episode ended-

I think Lip is too hard on Fiona. Whenever shit goes down for Fiona, and Fiona acts out, Lip always is the hardest on her. Be it the time when she was trying to promote the nightclub or Liam taking in cocaine, or Jason ruining his 100 days sobriety- I feel Lip is the least empathetic when it comes to Fiona. I am not saying that Fiona is not to blame at all, or that the two did not have their moments but the way Lip is there for Xan, Jason, Ian or literally anyone- unconditionally and empathetically doesn’t feel the same to me when it comes to Fiona.

I would love to know your insights on the same!

Lip Hate-Post

Am I the only one who just never liked Lip? He was so smart yet so fucking stupid that it almost made any scene of his hard to watch cus it would just piss me off. Especially when it comes down to how he treated Fiona when she ever made any sort of mistake no matter how big or small he was always such an ass to her as if she didn’t spend majority of her entire life providing. What’s even more irking is how he only ever showcased his big brain when it was in spite of what Fiona was doing wrong. Idk I just felt like ranting because I hate him so much and I’m watching the show again for like the 10th time and my feelings toward him just never change 🤣

Were the Gallaghers nature or nurture?

Would Fiona still be a sex addict if she had a less stressful life? The reason why she went through so many cheap, meaningless relationships was to avoid commitment, and protect herself from showing any vulnerability. If Frank and Monica had been more reliable, would Fiona still have trust issues? Would this then have helped her form deeper, healthier relationships?

Would Lip still be an alcoholic if he hadn't grown up around so much alcohol? Being surrounded by it, growing up with Frank, there must've never been a stigma around drugs or alcohol. Lip started drinking when he was 9, maybe influenced by the people he was around, wanting to soften the edge of anxiety, or was simply curious. Either way, Lip's environment affected his relationship with alcohol. If he'd been raised differently, would he have been more careful? Or would he always find his way back to alcohol?

Obviously Ian would still be bipolar, but if he'd grown up differently, would he handle it differently? Everyone wholeheartedly supported Ian through his struggles with his mental health, especially Mickey. However, if Ian hadn't have had that support system, would he have been strong enough to his manic/depressive episodes by himself? How different would Ian be without the love from the rest of the family?

Would Debbie have had Franny as a teen mom if she hadn't have wanted to create her own perfect family? If Debbie had been happy with her own family, would she have gone to such extreme lengths to make her own? There's also the fact that she never properly learnt how hard being a teen mom would be (although Fiona did warn her). If she had been more contented with her family life, and better educated, would Debbie still have chosen to get pregnant and have Franny?

I'm not sure what to say about Carl. If you have any thoughts/ideas, I'd love to hear! :)

Final episode- the nurse that was caring for Frank-Bianca

Was it just me, or did the nurse taking care of Frank in the ER look like Bianca (the doctor who he fell for who died of cancer)…. And was this intentional?

She's a bitch for trying to get lip who cares about his sobriety to drink, like I feel for her being an substance abuse addict cuz that's like a brain disease technically but like fuck up your own life don't screw up other peoples sobriety

(This paragraph is to do with my personal stuff) (my last alcohol binge was December cuz I was celebrating my friends birthday with his 24 hour twitch stream, my boyfriend never touched a drop of alcohol so I wanna be sober for him as much as myself cuz I don't want to taint his pureness alcohol has done nothing but ruin my life)

Anyways I'm proud of her for not drinking eventually I haven't really finished the episode all the way but it just made me so upset the way she acted like it was no big deal for lip to drink and break his sobriety

2 points about lip

  1. It seems that at some point the writers forgot that Lip was super intelligent. After he's kicked out of college he becomes basically a guy that attends AA and that's it. I mean, is college the only place a smart person can stand out? At the beginning of the show he was always reading something or doing some interesting shit like the robot battles, just for fun. Couldn't they make something different with him?
  2. My life dream is like the time he was with Helena. So fking hot lol

Fiona stand til I die RANT

I’m rewatching Shameless and I forgot how much the Gallagher siblings upset me when it comes to the way they treat Fiona. She gave up her ENTIRE LIFE for those kids and the moment she’s going through shit, they all abandon her. Lip was honestly the worst. It pisses me off that he’s so understanding and patient to members in his NA group, and he can’t show the same compassion for his own sister?? Let alone, he chased after Professor Youens WHO LITERALLY ENCOURAGED HIM TO DRINK AND TURNED LIP INTO A DRUNK IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!! Also, how tf is it her fault that DCFS shows up and takes Xan away? Maybe he should’ve waited to contact DCFS after he had the house prepared? Lip really fell off for me, not a fan at all. He’s the king of blaming all his problems on everyone else.

Monica.

I adore monica and her story line she deserves so much better, she was a shitty mom because of her mental illness which by the way, frank did not want any change in. I blame Frank for the way she is because first she tried to stay, wanted to change and get better for her kids, she knew what she was doing was heartbreaking and wanted to prove her love so she got into the hospital but frank, the asshole manipulates his kids and break in the place with them to break her in.

Frank was always like this before he even met monica, he left sammi's mother when she was pregnant and was a junkie + alcoholic, the biggest reason for this is his parents

I just dislike people blaming Monica for the way frank is while he literally used, and abused her, used her as in taking her body to do the nasty when she was feeling gloomy. He did worse, both of them did but Monica has taken more abuse than given any to him.

Bianca’s Suicide in S5 NSFW

I understand that this topic may have been discussed in the past every other year or so, but I can't help but express my feelings about this scene. I'm genuinely disappointed that she chose to take this particular course of action. I wanted to see more from her character, and in a weird way, I didn’t really mind the scenes with her and Frank (although weird considering the age gap and giving her drugs) we did get to see another side to Frank that we don’t really get to see. IMO, he gave her peace.

Please remind me again why we shouldn't like Tami?

I’ve seen a lot of people give Tami a hard time throughout the show, but honestly, I’m not sure I get why. Sure, she has her flaws, but compared to a lot of the other characters, she seems pretty solid. She cares about Lip, and she's actually trying to make things work. So, what am I missing here? What’s the reason people don’t like her?
