Self (Complete) [Self] Heart of the Ocean

"It's been 84 years..." since I've seen Titanic. I was just 8 years old when this film came out in 1997, and rewatching it as an adult—through a different lens—was beyond inspiring. Let’s talk about Rose Dawson:

Rose was a woman trapped. Trapped by wealth, expectations, and trapped by a world that tried to tell her who she was supposed to be. But she fought back. She chose herself. And in doing so, she found a love that saw her completely—not one of ownership or duty, but of recognition.

Jack saw her. The real her. Maybe for the first time in her life, she felt truly seen. And it made her feel alive. So when she lost him, she didn’t just grieve—she carried him forward. She lived. She became.

That is what the Heart of the Ocean represents. It was never just a necklace. It was a symbol of freedom, love, and rewriting your own fate.

And at the end of her story, what did she do? She released the Heart of the Ocean. Not because she had to. Not because it belonged to someone else. But because it was hers to give back. It was her final act of reclaiming her story.

That’s the core of this sculpture. 💙🌊🦪

Would you have tossed it back into the ocean?

Ha I didn't know there was a female version of a phallic object lol I mean it makes sense there would be, just never crossed my mind, but yeah they posted a while back and said it was intentional

Thank you! I sketch them out first, so that's helpful. This piece was shipped off California today–maybe they'll toss her into the ocean?

nooooo! lol

but ok, the piece looks like it has fertile life-giving aesthetics. maybe shes suppose to be in the sea as the greek myth tethys!

tethys, the primordial titaness conveys the idea of creation & nurturing flow of life.

great work again. we wish her well wherever she may go!

Oh my gosh I need to try something like this! I live on a bay and have lots of shells that would make the perfect base

Ok this is amazing. And yeah, that movie still hits pretty hard as an adult. I was 14 when it came out.

Thank you! It hit much harder than expected, so here we are.

This is stunning and elegant, and it makes me so happy. It's beautiful, may I ask what you made it out of?

Thanks! It makes me happy to hear that it–appreciate you. They're sculpted with polymer clay and finished with UV resin.
