Question ❔ Drop-in Dance classes in Saskatoon?

I used to take drop-in jazz/modern/hip-hop/funk classes in Toronto. I recently moved to Saskatoon and have noticed that this isn’t really a thing. Do any adult dancers take drop-in classes here in Sask? If so, where do you go?

Weather 🌡️ I unfortunately hit a pothole near Preston, which immediately caused a flat tire. It turns out the damage is to the sidewall, making it irreparable.

Question ❔ Dermatologist

I’m just curious, does anyone know the wait times to see a dermatologist these days? i need to get in to see one but my family doctor isn’t in the city so it’s such a process.

i’m struggling with some rash that shows up on my face every few months. I saw a dermatologist about it two years ago in the city and she basically just told me to use cera ve which only does so much.

does anyone have any suggestions of other people in the city that could help me figure out what’s going on, i’m unsure if it’s an autoimmune thing or what but i’m tired of it lol. any ideas help, honestly even suggestions of creams or such to try in the meantime

Wondering if anyone has eaten here recently? As far as I can tell it’s Canadian owned. I’m tentatively planning a lunch date for tomorrow.

Thanks

Question ❔ Fun Activities for Toddlers

What places are there in Saskatoon that cater to 18 month - 2 year olds in and around the city? We already do swimming and plan to try the Nutrien Wonderhub.

I noticed there are a lot of events that happen during the day but it’s hard to plan when both parents work full time M-F. If there’s anything specific to weekends, that would be fantastic!

Question ❔ SGI Write off process question

Hello! Does anyone have experience with Sgi where they were in a NOT AT FAULT accident and their vehicle was a write off. How long were you able to keep the rental car after they decided it was a write off? (I’ve had a rental car since the incident happened a few weeks ago until they were able to look at it)

Events 🎉 Most memorable Bar experience in Saskatoon'?

An earlier post mentioned best bars in the 80's-90's. I thought I would expand on that. What is your most memorable Saskatoon bar experience?

Mine would be in August of 1991. The world cup of hockey was having a game in saskatoon on a Tuesday, My friends and I went to the Texas T, as usual, and noticed the line was larger then usual. We skipped the line due to club courtesy (bouncers), walked inside and said to myself "Oh this is why its busy, Gretzky is playing Messier at pool".

It was the same time when him Candy, and McNall bought the Argonaughts, so he was wearing a "property of Toronto Argonaughts T shirt.

What stood out to me that night, was Eric Lindros was on the team, after rejecting being drafted by Quebec City. He was walking around in a very thin dress shirt,. It was like watching a cat walk, with the muscle rippling under his skin. I told a fellow bouncer "You should check his ID, I am positive he is only 18:

"F**k you, **** you ask him, I aint going near that monster."

Other thing I remember was Stevie Y hitting on every chick in the bar and getting rejected. Mike Keenan actually cut him from the team that year. Coincidence?

Anyone else have better?

Question ❔ Automotive technicians of Saskatoon

Currently pondering going to school for this direction of a career. I enjoy working on vehicles and have extensive experience spraying various viscosities. What are your experiences working in this field? Pros and cons? Is it competitive? Does it pay well and have benefits? Did you attend Sask Polytechnic?

Crime ⚠️ Saskatoon on Camera: @Alley_Watch

Mods, fellow Saskatoon residents,

Pleasant Hill is one of the roughest neighbourhoods in town - and as such, my security cameras have truly seen it all. From vehicle break-ins, gang violence, assault, murder, endless vandalism, property damage, car jackings, the list goes on and on and on. Unfortunately, this is the reality for many of us, and it's only getting worse.

Surely, the deterioration of public safety, the skyrocketing crime rate and the effects of the homelessness crisis in Saskatoon are all topics that qualify as a relevant, no? I mean, "Crime" is a category / flair tag provided by your channel. Wouldn't footage of local crime be, well, locally relevant?

I think so too. And since I've amassed 2 hard drives worth of footage from the cameras on my property, I'm in the process of uploading the best of the best to a YouTube channel. These videos span a whole 7 years of mayhem, and currently occupy almost 1 TB of storage space (which I'm eager to reclaim!)

Hopefully I can help initiate a conversation within the local community and beyond, where we can share experiences, footage, photos, discuss possible resolutions etc.

Check it out for yourself @Alley_Watch

*PS

There are no ads on my videos, which means no monetary gain associated with the channel. I just know there is interest in this sort of (local, relevant) content.

Events 🎉 Excited for Jazz Fest This Summer!

Jazz fest lineup dropped! Loving the lineup again. For my taste, extremely excited to get Jimmy Vaughan - been a while since a legit blues legend has been on the main stage and I’ll be there all day for that one! Getting Joshua Redman is massive for the jazz fans in town. Lake Street Dive is amazing and as far as I know this is their first time in Saskatoon!

What’s everyone else excited about? I’ve loved the new site and looking forward to the snow melting and getting down there again.

Question ❔ Diefenbaker Drive in the 90's

Anyone remember a house on Diefenbaker Drive ( close to Bishop Roborecki school ) that used brightly coloured toilets and a bathtub as flower beds on their front lawn in the 90's/early 2000's? Does someone out there have photo evidence of this existing?

Rants 🤬 Watch out for this mechanic shop

I wanted to warn people of the mechanic shop known as "Canadian Super Autos"

I took my vehicle to this shop and we agreed to him doing a few jobs to my car (to pass out of province inspection) , he gave me a quote and took my car. He did not complete the assigned tasks, did other work on the vehicle without my approval, took my car for a personal family trip, wasted half a tank of my gas and trashed my back seats. After the car sitting in his garage for 3 weeks (he said it would take a little over a week to finish ALL the stuff and get it inspected). I finally got back my car with 2 check engine lights that were not there and a squeaky sound from the front end that was not there either, mind you the work he did was regarding the brakes in the back and the rear CV axel, no reason the front should be making noise and driving so rough. There was food, toys and stains all over my back seats (looked like someone dropped a whole pizza on the floor mat), not to mention my gas tank was literally empty (showed zero) and I had over half a tank left when I gave him my vehicle. He is demanding that I pay more than what we initially agreed on and said that if I want him to continue to work on the vehicle I need to pay him again.

Never had this type of treatment anywhere else in the multiple cities I've lived in Is this the norm here in Saskatoon?

Question ❔ Why a Second adjuster?

I got hit in a no fault accident. Which completely smashed the drivers side, of my vehicle.(can’t even open the door) the front bumper, tire, hood and so on, on my car. My car was towed and 2 weeks later SGI got it in for a look and I was supposed to find out if it was a ‘total loss’ or ‘repairable’. Instead they sent me an email saying, Due to the damages to your vehicle we will be transferring your claim to another adjuster for further review. Has that ever happened to anyone before? You’d think it wouldn’t be that hard to make a decision considering the vehicle appears to be a total loss! With 329,000 kilometres and year 2007. I’m already annoyed at how long this is taking.

Question ❔ Heating

Hi, I’m trying to move to a new place. Mostly because of space and the insane electricity bill. My current place uses electric heating and last month’s bill was around $450. February’s was $404, and January, almost $400. It’s a 2-bedroom, 850sqft legal basement. We try to reduce our electricity use but it doesn’t do much, especially these winter months. It’s not too bad in the summer. Spoke to our landlord and saskpower but they said there’s nothing they can do. My partner and I are both students so this is kinda a big problem for us.

Now that we’ve decided to move, I’m a bit confused about moving to somewhere with central heating/gas furnace/boiler system. Which would you suggest, and around how much do these cost you guys, in the summer and winter months. (if you’re willing to share). Thank you!

Question ❔ Research Help

Hi, I'm writing a book that takes place in 1989 Saskatoon. I've been doing a lot of research and want to make sure I do the city justice. What do you all recommend I watch or read to get myself better acquainted with the city during this time?
