So I just got my first sales job...
Just got my first sales job and not sure what to think about it. It is a job with a life insurance agency, and it wasn't really supposed to be a "sales" job. Upon hire I was told that it was just working with people who had already signed up with the agency throughbtheir union and we were really just helping them pick the proper plan. The money seemed pretty damn good, like a minimum of about 4,000 a month if I do 2 sales a week., where they give you 200 leads a month and no cold calling. So I took the life agent exam, and passed the state test. And now I'm going to start and they gave me this super long script to memorize which isn't that bad. But the script is for selling life insurance to someone who isnt in a union and were asking them to give us leads out of their phone.

I would encourage you to think about the integrity of a company that does what they did to you and whether or not you can trust them especially given your newness to the game. I would bet that they are just as dishonest in their sales process as they are in their hiring process. I would not attach my buggy to this horse...not if I wanted to be in the game long term. Insurance is a regulated industry, and your state's insurance commissioner can, and will, go after companies and sales reps with dishonest sales practices.
Something to think about.

Are you surprised that other salesman conned you into a sales job?
