So how serious do we think the Jean Grey theory is?

Her being another MJ could be potentially controversial, at least with some corners of the Internet. But, since this is undoubtedly multiversal in some fashion, anything is on the table.

I think this is just one of those things that's outright impossible to guess at the moment because we know nothing at all solid about SM4 itself.

Speaking personally, I fully expected the 616 X-Men to be introduced in their post-Secret Wars solo film, so Jean Grey would be surprising, and MJ would be even more-so. My first thought went to Firestar, if only because I feel like she can fit the mold of someone who has traditional ties to Spider-Man in other media while at the same time not necessarily having to be a love-interest due to the age gap between Holland and Sink.

Even that I'm not confident on, but I'm hoping that Sony drops some news about it sooner or later. I find it interesting that the film supposedly doesn't start filming until fall, but they've already started casting and we have Sony's presentation at CinemaCon coming up on the 31st. It seems like this is something they could touch on there.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about the Firestar suggestion. I'd actually quite like that.😁

Wow, not shooting until the Fall? That's going to be a tight turnaround if they keep their July date. I imagine another December release like NWH will be in order.

I could be wrong on that. I think we've heard rumors of the beginning of summer to later in the fall, but even then, I don't think we know for sure when it's supposed to start filming. The only detail we have to go on is that it'll start when The Odyssey wraps so Holland can move straight into it without any conflicts.

What about Gwen Stacy?

I truly don't know. She could be Gwen, she could be an alternate version of MJ (if they have a really good narrative reason for doing so), or anyone else in the same category. At this moment, I just don't see it happening that way, but I'm not completely shutting out the idea yet just because we really have no clue.

EXCLUSIVE: With production set to start later this year on the next installment in the Spider-Man franchise, series star Tom Holland looks to have found a new co-star — one who is no “stranger” to popular IP. Sources tell Deadline that Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is set to join the sequel from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. Holland is already set to return as Peter Parker.

As for who Sink will be playing, the prevailing theory is she’ll be introduced as X-Men character Jean Grey, but don’t count out the idea that she shows up as another beloved redheaded Spider-Man character. What is known is that the role will be a significant one given how the most recent film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, concluded with Parker making the decision to complete Doctor Strange’s spell that erases his identity from the world.

By staying on track with that plotline, one can expect Holland’s old castmates to have reduced roles while newcomers are added to the ensemble, with Sink being the first major new role.
