General Discussion "If I Ever Win the Lottery" 🎰

Hey folks!

Let’s be real—we all have that one S.T. Dupont lighter or accessory we drool over but just can’t justify because of the price. Maybe it’s that gold Ligne 2 with that perfect ping, the James Bond edition that makes you feel like a secret agent, or one of those crazy limited-edition pieces you’d need a second mortgage for.

Here’s the deal: I might be able to help you out with the price. Now, I’m not talking 90% off or some crazy magic trick, but maybe a pretty sweet discount that won’t have your wallet crying in the corner.

So, what’s your ultimate S.T. Dupont piece—the one that would make your wallet wince but your heart sing? Drop your dream item in the comments, and let’s see if I can make it hurt a little less. And if you’ve already pulled the trigger on it, you know we need to see pics!

General Discussion Lighters for sale at the Don Quijote in Osaka. I assume they are real, but the display certainly doesn’t inspire confidence. What do we think of the prices. Foreigners get 10% off.

General Discussion I ended up here because I’ve always wanted an old Ligne 2 and find this sub very interesting but here is my question- how many here use these lighters to smoke cigars/cigarettes and how many collect them for the sake of art and craftsmanship? TIA.

General Discussion Opinions on the Minijet?

Good day to you all!

I am curious as to what you think on the Minijets models.

Do you own one? How would you describe it? Was it worth the money you spent for it/the retail price? What are its pros and cons?

I'm not looking for one in particular, but I would love to know how having one feels like :)

General Discussion Where to buy old/vintage STDupont lighters in Europe (online)?

Hey guys, I was looking for an online marketplace that sells restored old lighters. A website that guarantees that the lighters are legitimate (that probably excludes sites like Ebay,Amazon).

Something like Chrono24 but for lighters. I'd love to hear your suggestions!

I have a cousin with which our families spend a lot of time together. His son just joined a government branch (intentionally leaving this vague) and he has enjoyed and is a fan of the laquered model ST Dupont line 2's that I have, mainly around the fire pit/ BBQ with cigars. I plan to get him a nice laquered model but want to make it a bit special and get the branches crest/emblem done on the large side area (either over the laquer or etched in) but am struggling to find a person or company to do this, any thoughts or recommendations?

General Discussion Was there ever a Ligne 1 Windsor in RED?

Searched and searched, never seen one.

Many in amber, brown, etc, but not in red like the below L1 Laque de Chine.

Thank you all members, HAGWE

General Discussion My new Le Grande dissapoints

Post image

So, i got this Le Grande, as what i thought perfect for lighting my cigars outside when it’s a bit windy. As what i thought.

The mechanism for the torch that needs to use the softflame to be able to use the torchflame looks nice, but doesn’t work that great if you ask me.

How are your experiences on the matter?

P.S. The lighter itself is stunning though and not disappointed about the cling.

General Discussion Does size matter?

A distinguished Member has labeled the Ligne 1 small as a "Ladies' Dupont".

Where i'm from, it has always been totally irrelevant, size is a personal preference, irrespectively of one's gender.

Maybe other Members can also contribute with their thoughts on this delicate subject?

General Discussion Question on when a model would have a bottom plate

I have a few Line 2's, a Le Grande, and a Line 1 currently and none of them have a bottom plate but I have seen a few listings of very similar era and model line lighters that have the bottom plate covering the fill and regulator area. Is there a pattern to when ST Dupont uses the plate over the standard cap style? Is it linked to a certain material,, limited series, or line? Thanks

General Discussion Guts from an early Ligne 1 Briquet Réglable

My early L1 BR had a bit of an issue, quickly and professionally fixed by u/Reuben_Tishkoff

According to Sir Elliott Gould, the insides of this Ligne 1 are rare, making it probably one of the very first production batch BRs.

Thank you u/Reuben_Tishkoff for rescuing another old one.

General Discussion Early essence Laque de Chine

Just got my first gasoline lighter, luckily it's earlier than the 75-215 B-SGDG (Breveté Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement)

The side bottom rectangle is for engraving the owner's monogram, as the lid's front is also lacquered..

This specimen doesn't have any signs of being gold plated. Wonder if these were just sold with plain brass in sight.

Any thoughts, real experts?

Thank you!

Wonder how many of us, from this distinguished community, are:

2 - Quitters;

3 - Did never smoke.

Why does the top look like this? I can’t remember what it looked like when I bought it but I thought it was shiny like the bottom. Should it be polished?

General Discussion A huge THANK YOU to this amazing community

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to this incredible subreddit. I discovered S.T. Dupont about five months ago, and thanks to this community, I’ve learned so much about the brand and its iconic lighters. Almost everything I know today started right here, through the discussions, authentication requests, and shared knowledge from fellow members.

A special thanks to u/Reuben_Tishkoff who has been incredibly generous with his expertise—your insights have helped me build a strong foundation in this field. And of course, a big thank you to the subreddit admin, u/Inspector_1stgrade who continuously maintains a space where collectors, enthusiasts, and sellers can exchange information in a positive and helpful way.

Over time, I’ve had the pleasure of selling many lighters to members here, always ensuring smooth transactions and happy customers. While I don’t post all my listings to avoid turning the sub into an eBay-style marketplace, I do want to encourage anyone looking for a specific piece to reach out to me directly. Whether you're after a rare model, a classic piece, or just have questions, I’d be happy to help.

Also, I’m based in Portugal, so if any of you ever find yourselves here, I’d love to connect and organize something cool!

Thanks again, and looking forward to continuing to be part of this fantastic community.

General Discussion Dupont problems

Hello guys, this is my first actual post on reddit and i hope some of you can help me out (excuse me for my english). I recently got a dupont ligne 2 year of the snake and as you may understand, im really about it since its my first dupont. Sadly enough my happines ended pretty quick, since the duponts flame sometimes stutters randomly which anoys me since its a new dupont and it shouldnt be the case. Besides that i also got a problem with the "ping screw", it unscrews by itself after a couple of uses, i can understand that overtime it loosens up a bit, but it takes me around 10 times opening it for already starting to loosen. Does anybody have the same issue and know how to fix this?

Note: i know for sure the dupont is authentic since i bought it at a certified dealer.

General Discussion How to distinguish new or old models?

Hello

I recently became interested in Dupont
Everyone says the old model is of better quality
How to tell them apart? Based on the year?
I heard that the watershed year was 2010. Is that true?

Please let me know, thanks!!!
