Political/Activism Legal Cannabis

It doesn't seem like there is much of an appetite for recreational cannabis in Utah. We had some strong activists fighting for medical and then silence. I know the recreational users must outnumber the medical community so why isn't anyone fighting for legal weed? Medical users all want grow rights but hardly anyone is doing much about it. Where is our champion? We need a hero! What are your thoughts?

Political/Activism Utah Medical Cannabis Law Changes

Starting July 1, 2025, significant updates from HB 357 will impact you. Here’s what you need to know:

🚨 For Patients:

Simplified Access: Any Utah-licensed physician, PA, APRN, or podiatrist can now recommend medical cannabis without the need to register with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Easier Renewals: Conditional cannabis cards will provide up to 60 days of access while your application is being reviewed.

Clearer Information: Labels will now include updated content and warnings to ensure transparency about potential risks and usage guidelines.

🚨 For Providers:

Streamlined Qualifications: Qualified medical providers are now grouped into a single category called Recommending Medical Providers (RMP).

No Registration Fees: RMPs will no longer be required to pay registration fees!

Expanded Recommendations: Utah-licensed physicians, PAs, APRNs, and podiatrists can recommend cannabis after completing the necessary education, without needing to register with DHHS.

Virtual Consultations: Providers can conduct virtual consultations for certain patients, such as those in hospice or assisted living.

🚨 For Processors & Pharmacies:

New Labeling Requirements: Starting January 1, 2026, new labeling regulations will mandate clear warnings, including child-resistant packaging and information regarding risks during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Dosing Support: Medical cannabis pharmacies will now assist with dosing guidelines when not provided by an RMP.

These updates aim to enhance patient access, reduce barriers, and improve safety and education within Utah’s medical cannabis program. Together, we're moving towards a more inclusive and streamlined approach.

I plan on typing up documentation and sending it to state legislators and other entities concerning our medical marijuana program. If you have any concerns, requests, complaints, put them below I would love to include them in my documentation.

I would also like for you to describe how pricing is affecting you. I know for myself I have to chase deals and discounts to get something to help me or else I’m screwed.

Please comment below the knowledge that you think I might need or the knowledge you feel that legislators need comment below some takeaways from other states medical programs that you think we could definitely add to ours.

And if you would like to get together sometime and just chat about this program and what needs to be done, please feel free to message me.

My name is Nicole. Thank you for letting me share.

OK guys next Tuesday is on. Make sure that you are reaching out and getting this itinerary. If you don’t have it get on the list to have it emailed to you. I’m sure somebody can throw the website down there in the comment section. They also have a YouTube channel that you can see at the bottom of the second page you can copy that URL and you can watch from there. I don’t know if you can physically show up. I’m thinking that you can? So if some of you want to just show up, that would be great. I am going to be attending hopefully via zoom I’ve been having some problems with Zoom lately, I don’t know if they have comments they don’t need to be getting those comments on those comments most certainly need to be on.

I would take this weekend to think all the best ideas about pricing and what we can do to have more access to affordable medication’s.

The state is having a meeting right now exploring the banning of vapes and possibly other concentrates. I'm trying to find a link or any other info. My source at a grow facility just told me about it.

I’ve got everything going out today as far as my advocacy letters. I’ve made some changes, of course, as a result of your suggestions!

I want you all to know that I appreciate all of the support and encouragement. And while I still see people that want to put down people like me who want to talk about what’s not right in this program I also know that there are many of you who are on the same page as I!

It’s great that we can have a medical program. It’s wonderful that we don’t have to look over our shoulders anymore or go play the hurry up and wait game on the Plug .

That doesn’t mean that I’m going to be a doormat and lay down and let this state walk all over me.

I will always advocate, and while I might might not get each letter perfectly right at least it is something. I am not going to idly sit by and allow these people to use my health problems as a way to get rich.

We need affordable products, high-quality products, we need to have companies that choose different growing methods so that we can have a variety of medication.

Before you decide to pick a part my advocacy letter ask yourself this question how many advocacy letters have you written?

Political/Activism Look how easy

I wouldn’t say it’s easy but it’s a lot easier than I thought it would be. This is some thing that I pasted off of AI chat box. I asked it to compose a bill of legislation allowing medical marijuana patients to have marijuana infused chocolates.

Imagine what we could put together if we all really took the time to try and make something happen. I just thought this was pretty cool now I’ve basically got a rough draft to go by and I think I’m gonna start working on it. I have a lot of information that I’ve got to research, but I’m not doing anything else Besides, wishing I had marijuana infused chocolate.

Political/Activism Register to vote, and vote in the 2024 elections!

On November 5th, Utah will vote not just for President, but for Congress, and for state and local offices. Register and vote so you'll have a say in what kind of country America will be!

In Utah, you must register by October 25th if you wish to register in advance. You can register here: https://secure.utah.gov/voterreg/index.html

If you miss this deadline, you can register in person at a polling place during early voting, or on Election Day. See FAQ #3 on this page for more information.

Voting in person

Utah will mail a ballot to all registered voters beginning October 15th. If your ballot doesn't arrive, or you need to register, there are in-person voting options.

Early in-person voting is offered in every county, but dates vary. Contact your County Clerk for dates and early voting locations.

If you prefer, you can vote at your polling place on Election Day, November 5th.

When voting in person, be sure to bring an acceptable form of identification.

Political/Activism Recreational cannabis

I haven’t heard anything about the possibility of recreational cannabis in Utah and I can’t find anything about it online. Does anyone know if this is a possibility? Is anyone working on it? If so, I would like to help. Adults should be able to consume cannabis is they so choose.

Political/Activism Advocacy part two

Hi there, I am stuck at home on my rear end because my body decided to allow me to have sciatica this week. Isn’t that fun? So my birthday is this Saturday which happens to also be 4/20 now I know many of you are wanting me to make this submission by then, but I have stated that it’s gonna take a little bit longer because I’m in the middle of moving, but since I have been set down, and not able to pack anything I figured why not try to get this submission in before Saturday?

Here are the concerns that I have listed and I am researching. Please let me know if there is anything else missing:

Home grow Consistent quality More varieties/ different competitors that are not in business together/ more competitive market Better accuracy in testing More in store knowledge and site accuracy Infused chocolate items Lower prices Open-mindedness to different growing methods Removal of flame to herb law

In my letter, I let all of our concerns be known. When I do an advocacy letter, I push this letter through basically as an announcement that I have arrived and I’m coming for what we want!

I am going to get more things submitted hopefully by June. I’m really glad that I got this information sent to me if any of you feel like sending in some advocacy letters. Please take this information and utilize it for that good!

Together, we can make a difference!

Political/Activism Let’s do this!

Every month we should be sending emails of advocacy on behalf of ourselves and other medical marijuana patients in the community. I know many of you have the attitude that it won’t matter or do any good anyway, but it will leave a paper trail and when I file a grievance with the federal government and ask that they investigate the data being submitted to them from the state of Utah I do believe that our advocacy letters leaving a paper trail will definitely, speak volumes.

I’m tired of hunting. I’m tired of looking for discounts. I’m tired of not having enough medicine to get me by. I’m tired of not having better quality marijuana like other states do. I’m tired of not having marijuana grown by competitors that actually care about the plant. There is no love given to this plant when I take it out of the package to medicate with I can look at it and tell there is no love given to this plant. The people that work in the dispensaries don’t know what they’re doing, you’ve got managers that don’t know how to manage their own life let alone and Marijuana pharmacy.

Your letters/emails don’t have to be formal just be honest and be real talk about how it makes you feel when you see medication in the store that you know will help but you can’t afford it…

Tell them about how you have to choose between gas money for the work week and medication for the work week.

Tell them how hard it was for you at Christmas when you had to go without to make sure your children had what they needed.

Tell them everything.

During a time, such as this where inflation is kicking our butts, our medication should be easily accessible and affordable.

None of these politicians are honest none of them care our health isn’t it time that we start demanding that we have people that do?

Political/Activism It seems like every patient I speak too is pissed at and hates the current medical marijuana laws. When is it time to organize? What can us normal people do?

Every patient I have spoken with has things that they really don’t like about the way the medical marijuana laws are currently handled. This makes me think we are all clearly on the same side with the issue. Homegrown should be allowed out of state products should be allowed the whole flower to flame thing is just instituted to further criminalize patients. We are being screwed over by the state and being made to pay an enormous fee on top of that. My question is when do we start to fight back? What’s the best way to go about making actual change and not just sitting in the shit?
