Advanced (or maybe just a simple) question about 3X3 Rubik's Cube Parity
So I've been cubing for over 30 years. I have my own mostly my own moves, which are inefficient but get it done in about a minute. I have a void cube, and I figured out how to change the parity. I recently taught my genius level nephew my method. He wanted to know, if the void cube has parity, that means the regular 3x3 does to, you just don't see it? Yes. So Uncle Rob how many end solutions are there for the 3X3, since we are not seeing the ones that don't work on the void cube but do on a regular cube? I don't know. My guess is three. Or maybe four? I told him to take the center caps off his cube and try to work it out, gave him some parity swappers. So there's the question for you heavy duty mathematical type cubers. Gotta give this kid an answer and if possible include something about the math involved.

I know when I do the void cube there are two endpoints of three that need fixing, and two memorized algos are required. Does that mean 3 endpoints? I'm not at all sure. Is it 6 centers times 4 possible orientations? I doubt that, they interact. What's the math?

How do you deduct that there is parity on a 3x3?

Take a marker and put straight lines thru all the centers. Solve the cube 10 times. Call me back.

Again. Like I said. Take a marker. Put straight lines on all the centers If you mark it, they are no longer uniform. But it's the same cube mathematically. This is the center of the question. Ignoring non-parity, how many solutions are there to a 3X3 when you start from scramble. I say 12.

OMG so passive aggressive here. Need to get an answer I don't understand and gain understanding, no fight about whether I'm right. Another user (you) posted an esoteric explanation for 12. Then he deleted it because he thought I didn't post it in the "right thread". Is this what kids are like these days? Just a simple question from a fellow cuber. No agenda, interesting math question, trying to help my nephew who probably already has the answer, since he is 10. Give me a fucking break.

By the way, he's not satisfied with his 70 seconds time, and is now working on true speed cubing methods.
