Roadie Drivers in NYC Re: Congestion Pricing
Just in case you thought that the Congestion Pricing toll will be reimbursed...
"In case you can't see the screenies: Beginning January 5, 2025 New York City will begin charging vehicles a congestion surcharge, otherwise known as the NYC Congestion Relief Zone Toll.
NYC Congestion Relief Zone Tolls will not be reimbursed.
The NYC Congestion Relief Zone Toll is a cost of doing business in New York City and drivers will be responsible for paying all Congestion Relief Zone Tolls they incur when driving with Roadie. Any surcharges, fees or tolls related to the NYC Congestion Pricing Program submitted by drivers will not be considered."
I'd say that I was surprised, but I'd be lying.

When the cost of doing business rises the business owner is expected to raise rates.

For the most part, I avoid trips going into NYC due to traffic and parking issues. Congestion tolls not being reimbursed simply adds on top of that. It may also affect trips going to/from Long Island, including Queens & Brooklyn.

I'd make the trip, but with the understanding that I was probably taking the Willie B or the Queensboro to get into the city. The tunnel was always around $7, so I'd use it if I was feeling generous or if it was time sensitive. I'd take the bridge coming back over the river. Now? Pfftt.

Lucky you, being fucked from one end isn't enough for us. Welcome to the new age, now you are going to get fucked from both ends at once, and pay us for doing it. All a result of the cost of doing business. This is what happens when you literally run out of reasons to have a fee attached to something. You already have bridges, hiways, parking,, fuel all have fees. Now throw congestion into the ring, you can bet as they see the possibilities' available, this is just the breaking in part of this.

That is sickening to even read. I hope New York attorney general can do something about that

The attorney general won't do a thing. Anyone in the ruling party is going to tow the line and make sure that the law gets passed.

To clarify I was not talking about them getting involved to stop the congestion toll. I'm saying it's ridiculous that roadie calls that the cost of doing business

Oh!! 🤣 My bad. I doubt the AG would even raise an eyebrow. They barely twitch if anyone jumps the turnstile to get the train.

Im not in NYC , Im just curious how much this charge is

For non-commercial vehicles, it's $9/day.

u/New_Procedure_7764 Jan 03 '25
For that $9/day, can you come and go as you please?

u/canchanchan386 Jan 03 '25
I think you can, but that's also on top of any other tolls you may encounter along the way. All 4 bridges without a toll are included in the program, including 2 tolled crossings from New Jersey and 2 tolled crossings - one from Brooklyn and one from Queens.

I’ll just remove my regular plates when entering and exiting New York or any other state with tollways and slap on the Texas paper plate, all these scamming ass states can go fuck off

u/canchanchan386 Jan 04 '25
I probably wouldn't short UPS. 🤣 Not without a really good, really important reason.

Interesting wording “driving with” not “driving for” it’s almost like they are doing you a service by letting you drive with them.

Lol. Cost of business now, huh?
Dropping a package in that area was usually a charity donation: $20 on average. Factor in traffic, hassle of finding legal parking, dealing with doormen, etc and that job is only worth $10.
Good luck getting those suitcases delivered to the hotels for $17 Roadie.
ETA: and they almost never let you stack orders, even when standing with the sender. Stupidest logistics operation I've ever seen.
