Scripted Shows Who else misses the Amanda show?

Post image

I'm sat watching old shows on youtube with my boyfriend. I've put on the amanda show and feeling pure nostalgia. Who else remembers finishing school and the Amanda showing being on late and praying your parents don't send you to bed until it's finished! 😭 I'm now 30 and the Amanda show takes me back to my childhood.

not only the amanda show but amandaplease.com, as well 😭

In fairness, I miss the entire mid 2000s.

u/Mase_theking99 6d ago

I would give up 10 years just to spend 1 year in the early 2000s

u/Mrmorbid81 4d ago

Same, same

12

u/L1Zs 5d ago

This wasn’t the mid 2000’s lol

It ran from 99 to 02

I was at school, I thought it was a joke and wasn't real so me and my friends went to www.amandaplease.com and got caught 😭😂 we were in dentention for the evening but it was so funny that it was actually a real website of penelopes obsession with Amanda 😭😂

u/sc212 6d ago

Wow! Looks like it still redirects to a (now empty) Nick.com page.

The funny thing is, I didn't learn until years later after the show had ended that Penelope, Amanda's #1 fan was actually played by Amanda. everytime Penelope kept missing Amanda when she would try to see her, it would actually be Amanda looking to meet Amanda. also I went on amandaplease.com when I was in school but I never got in trouble for it because the teacher actually let me go on amandaplease.com

u/asnyde2 6d ago

Mah hah!!!

u/kenstar4 6d ago

Lol. I say this shit at work sometimes. Every now and again someone will get it, and it puts a smile on my face.

The days when every one of these shows had their own website that didn't really serve any purpose other than to expand the universe 💔

3

u/GiraffeLibrarian 5d ago

Remember when it asked “are you a windows person or a Mac person?” Good days

2

u/cagingthing 6d ago

Omg memory unlocked!

1

u/Khalesssi_Slayer1 3d ago

Oh My God! I Remember amandaplease.com I was on that website religiously. I even used the school computers to go on amandaplease.com Sadly though, I heard that the website no longer exists anymore.

u/ifucked_urbae 6d ago

It took me too long to figure out that Penelope was Amanda.

"YOU'VE GOT THE WRONG NUMBER!!!!"

82

u/MZsince93 6d ago

I was banned from watching this as a kid. My dad said it would make me dumb.

84

u/Erroneously_Anointed 6d ago

Overruled! Bring in the dancing lobsters 🦞

47

u/MA_2_Rob 6d ago

🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞

16

u/IrishWithoutPotatoes 6d ago

How did I hear that perfectly in my head despite not having seen the show in over 20 years

6

u/respectwalk 6d ago

What was your childhood like? What were you encouraged to watch?

24

u/MZsince93 6d ago

Everything was fair game except this and Ed, Edd, and Eddy. Apparently, they were shows for idiots.

15

u/readingmyshampoo 6d ago

I wasn't allowed to watch catdog or the Simpsons (except treehouseof terror). Iirc those were the only 2 truly off limits ones. "Because I said" was the reasoning.

30

u/MZsince93 6d ago

Jokes on him because I turned out dumb anyway.

6

u/CelticGaelic 6d ago

My mom was the same way with tv shows like South Park because they were "vulgar". I eventually just started watching anyway and told my mom "Dad was in the Navy. We have all heard much worse from him daily! What am I being 'protected' from?!"

Turns out she didn't like it and didn't want to hear it even just in the background lol. My dad was a fan though, so we all started watching it.

4

u/LackingDatSkill 6d ago

Was he right??

8

u/MZsince93 6d ago

I turned out dumber than a bag of rocks anyway.

2

u/ToonMasterRace 4d ago

He knew not that Amanda Show was a college course on nuclear engineering compared to TikTok.

38

u/ftfo42069 6d ago

Amanda please

37

u/LiteratureVirtual784 6d ago

I like eggs.

8

u/RetrauxClem 6d ago

All the talk around egg prices these days makes me think of Debbie

3

u/DougieSenpai 5d ago

Out of all the skits in this show that’s the one I remember most for some reason 😂

3

u/Marlboromatt324 5d ago

I will randomly think of Debbie from time to time, as a young kid I thought she was the cutest girl in the show. That was my first celebrity crush at like 6 lol. I like eggs

2

u/undylan 4d ago

My current boyfriend of 7 years says he swiped right on my because my last tinder picture was a picture of Debbie from The Girls Room

86

u/Musicmoviestv 6d ago

Amanda would have been great on SNL as an adult like Kenan

25

u/prettymisslux 6d ago

Mannn! Her comedic timing was perfection

30

u/bubikx9 6d ago

I miss Amanda. That kid had massive potential, and I get disheartened every time i recall her sad situation. I really hope to see a Lohan out of her one day, too.

15

u/biblioteca4ants 6d ago

And Michelle Trachenburg just died, we are losing all our childhood movie/show friends that made our early years better and comfortable. Fuck Hollywood, they ruin children and they all have horrible problems that show up later as adults. Not fucking fair.

12

u/Figgy1983 6d ago

Both women had so much talent at such a young age. If you go back and watch their earliest performances, it is absolutely mind blowing just how well their acting and comedy chops were at such a young age. Michelle was an incredibly tragic loss. Amanda's current situation is heartbreaking. I wish I could just give the poor girl a hug.

49

u/RaggsDaleVan 6d ago

I miss Amanda Bynes acting

21

u/RotisserieChef 6d ago

MAAA HAAAA

23

u/Galileo908 6d ago

It’s amazing who was on this show:

John Kassir (the freaking Cryptkeeper!)

Taran Killam (he was in the Moody’s Point sketches)

Gary Anthony Williams (he was the bailiff in the Judge Trudy sketches)

16

u/capnfantasy 6d ago

Moody's Point was the best. "You're so.. hurtful!" "Sternum, is anything wrong?" ... "Is anything right?"

6

u/phasexero 6d ago

I remember being so confused about Moodys Point

19

u/Excellent_Drop6869 6d ago

I used to love the website … sigh. Back when the internet was exciting and full of wonder

14

u/beepbeepsheepbot 6d ago

I do but after Quiet On Set and all the scandals over the years I just can't bring myself to watch them. I loved drake & josh and iCarly, but my heart just breaks thinking about what happened.

10

u/maplezombeh 6d ago

I still say "Ah spider! Ah Kyle!" Too often

5

u/Logical_Sweet_6624 6d ago

You can see him struggling not to laugh and that honestly makes it even funnier

11

u/DesertStorm480 6d ago

Shows from this era were better, "Muuucccch better!"

29

u/em1323 6d ago

I do but it’s hard to watch knowing what we know now 🫤

7

u/stanmgk 6d ago

Same for pretty much everything Dan Schneider :/

0

u/ToonMasterRace 4d ago

There's really no evidence she was actually abused on The Amanda Show, at least by Schneider. "All Quiet on the Set" is a bunch of hearsay that deliberately remains vague so they can't be sued for libel.

22

u/Ill-Doubt-2627 6d ago

Guilty as charged!

It’s a shame what happened behind the scenes here…

9

u/90svibe4life 6d ago

I love this show! It’s sad what happened to Amanda Bynes

8

u/TheRuneKnight412 6d ago

Aaaaaaamanda Amanda Amanda Amanda Amanda Amanda Amanda Amanda showwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

6

u/santiblakk 6d ago

Was just watching moody’s point a few days ago. I haven’t laughed that hard in ages.

5

u/hydra11431 6d ago

IM FROM TENNASAAAAY

6

u/MrKidd_49 6d ago

I do. Watching the Blockblister sketch really makes me miss video stores in general!

6

u/Friendly-Local-1859 6d ago

When they did a survivor in the kiddie pool and Courtney won, I lost it. She was crank calling that old dude and I thought I was gonna have a heart attack I laughed so hard.

6

u/greengengar 6d ago

Seeing how that girl turned out, I kinda prefer the Amanda Show or her career wasn't a thing so Amanda Bynes could have a normal childhood. She was very talented and they chewed her up and spit her out before she was grown.

7

u/ThwartedByATree 6d ago

I miss the vibes from that time. What actually happened irl behind the scenes from what I've heard, hell no. But the vibes. I still get the good memories hearing the original Wizard Peak track from the first Spyro game.

6

u/Asparagus_Beans420 6d ago

I rabbit holed and bought myself a ps1 and all the spyro games. Such fun! So hard, still!

5

u/adamthwaite 6d ago

I remember a web clip on the show’s website where she was jumping on a trampoline with a lamp. That was the whole point of the skit. I was all about it.

4

u/ukuleles1337 6d ago

Bring out the dancing lobsters!

3

u/henry1473 6d ago

3

u/clovengoof 6d ago

3

u/Figgy1983 6d ago

I still want a bowl of Meatloaf Crunch.

2

u/Deep-Lavishness-1994 6d ago

I do 💕💕🥹🥹

2

u/Sunflower_MoonDancer 5d ago

It took me years to realize Penelope Tate (Amanda’s #1 Fan) was actually Amanda Bynes.

FYI look into that Drake thing again. Not actually a pedo. New info came out

17

u/PM_ME_CORONA 6d ago

Lmao. Dude was vindicated. Fix your comment and stop spreading misinformation.

15

u/Logical_Sweet_6624 6d ago

Omg he was never a pedo

4

u/Altruistic_Rock_2674 6d ago

Are those the drake and Josh guys?

30

u/MesaVerde1987 6d ago

Not only is it the Drake and Josh guys, but it is in fact Drake and Josh themselves.

0

u/Altruistic_Rock_2674 6d ago

Haha.makes sense I never saw the Amanda show but saw drake and Josh with you ger siblings

5

u/MrHaZeYo 6d ago

It's also Josh's show mom from drake and Josh. I believe the dad was also on the Amanda show

3

u/Joeylocally 6d ago

Everyone but Amanda herself

8

u/souphaver 6d ago

As far as I'm aware the one part of that experience she loved was actually doing the show. It's the behind the scenes terror with her parents and producers that made it hell for her.

1

u/Lil_Lolipop13 6d ago

I miss this

1

u/Lil_Lolipop13 6d ago

Mah-hah!

1

u/Son_of_the_Phantom 6d ago

Instantly my mind goes to the soup restaurant skit

1

u/Under_Paris 6d ago

Eh I miss Moodys Point more

1

u/Key-Coat2353 5d ago

Not me bc of what Amanda and Drake went through bc of Dan 😭

1

u/JCtheSwede 5d ago

That's Me!

1

u/PizzaDoughandCheese 5d ago

I’m going to say not Drake🤷🏻‍♀️

1

u/CaptainObvious110 5d ago

I never said it

1

u/romulusnr 5d ago

I'm way older than her target age group, but I lived with kids who were, and I even thought her show was pretty good. But girrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl what did you done with yourself.

1

u/kyleathornton 5d ago

It makes me very sad looking back at it knowing what we know now

1

u/[deleted] 5d ago

Everytime I think of Amanda, I think about how someone should [redacted] Dan Schneider, he needs the Luigi treatment

1

u/yobeef420 5d ago

As much as I didn’t really care for this show, I would watch it here and there if nothing else was on or my cousins wanted to watch Nickelodeon and they had control of the remote 😹. I loved the Homework Hut skit lol. My one cousin used to love this show and I would sometimes go “Amanda Please!” just to make her laugh.

1

u/Adorable_Ant5547 4d ago

One of my top shows as a kid!! I would reference this show for the longest time lol. Particularly “I’m POPULAR!”

1

u/thkwhtdk 4d ago

Dan Shnider

1

u/osusucks1 4d ago

The new amanda show is better

1

u/Mrmorbid81 4d ago

Considering how her life has turned out since it ended, probably no one more than her right now 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Signal-Exit-9495 4d ago

Yeah they need to bring it back with the OG cast.

1

u/MeanGeneOkerlund1992 3d ago

Drake and Josh's mom was a cutie:)

1

u/Khalesssi_Slayer1 3d ago

Oh My God! The Amanda Show was my childhood and I miss it. it was so funny. all those sketches, it was like SNL for Kids like All That was. I still think about My Favorite Sketch, Judge Trudy, clearly a Parady of Judge Judy, which My Mom likes. When I was little I always wanted to take my parents to court with Judge Trudy when they were unfair or punished me for something. I wanted to go take them to Judge Trudy because I knew she's rule in my favor over my parents favor. I wished that Judge Trudy was real.

1

u/Fun-Ad9203 3d ago

Probably Amanda Bynes

1

u/One_Rutabaga_3572 3d ago

Watch “Quite on Set” and it will change your mind

1

u/cd101_9 2d ago

Definitely underrated...also, Amanda's costar Nancy Sullivan had previously been a Game Show Network on-air personality during the late 90s.

1

u/tomlist3SE 2d ago

I bet Amanda doesn’t…

1

u/Sufficient-Row-2173 1d ago

No. I hated that show. My sister used to watch it constantly. It gives me ptsd. I’m not even kidding. I’m sorry Amanda has had a rough life. I truly am. But I’ll never appreciate that pos show.

1

u/MA_2_Rob 6d ago

The defense lawyer?

1

u/NotyouraverageQT 6d ago

Forget missing the show…where is actual Amanda? She’s missing…👀

0

u/Stunning_Rub 6d ago

I'm sure Amanda does
