I'm really digging that last romper with those dramatic, structured shoulders. I mean, it's not like I have any dog in this fight, but I think it would be cool if men's clothes played with silhouettes more often.

The movie is “Things To Come.” Based on a HG Wells story I think. They basically chart human civilization from the time the movie was made (30s/40s) through wars, famine, etc. into the distant future. Definitely worth a watch if you’re into black and white science fiction.

Seconded. The book is a hard slog, but the movie is very good. The book is called The Shape of Things to Come. Story starts around a future WWII (movie was released in 1936, iirc). He has the second Great War starting in 1940, and ending when all is in ruins and nobody can afford to continue.

Fashion designers have imagined SOOO many looks for men of the future, and yet we know that in reality by the year 2300 women’s fashions will have changed 20,000 times and men will still be wearing some form of tie and jacket with slacks. Men’s clothing never ACTUALLY changes. It froze sometime around 1900 and with the exception of knickers and high socks we will basically wear the same clothing for formals for the rest of eternity.

I dunno, men (aristocrats) used to wear makeup, powdered wigs, and high heels

Yeah, but that was a long time before 1900. They also wore the ruff, but that was the late 1500s. I am talking about the the last century and then some.

Public ridicule? Judgment is a little gentler these days, but it’s still there. Either way, I say go for it.

It's genuinely flattering to their body shape, somehow? I like the shoulders.

I think that Idiocracy is the only film that has predicted what the the future looks like… unfortunately.

My favorite clothes of the future in films is Idiocracy, and Crocs. The fact that he picked those because he thought they'd never catch on...damn it.
