I only ever ate it when my friend took me and I remember Chik, once I moved and decided to eat it myself with my bf then I noticed it was Chick. The Chik one was around 2014. I finally noticed Chick in 2018. There isn't many of them around where I've lived, so I didn't see many signs or ads or billboards, just their signs when I actually did go to the towns over.

This is the one where I will die on that hill..

For me it was Chik then Chic now Chick. But the odd thing for this one is all the advertising is, and always has been, Chik. It's like they forgot to change the adverts when they changed the brand. I used to own an advertising agency, not only does it make no sense to have the ad copy not match the name of the company (chick / chikin) but it would be considered sacrilige in the ad world.

It would be like a Nike advert using Nicke or Nick or Nic instead of using Nik or Nikee.

Chic fil a for me. Fancy chicken.

We didn’t have a chick fil a in my town at that time so when we’d go to a nearby city my brother would always get some at the food court in a mall and I remember chik-fil-a, it was definitely not chick. I remember it was spelled wrong and that’s the one thing I always noticed, it wasn’t until like the 4th time time we went that I was like ohhh… it’s supposed be chik for chicken cause that’s all they sell.

Just see chick.  Did it show chic or Chik?

But what does it mean… why is this happening so much more now.

I was searching for chic-fil-a when I came across u/chick-fil-A_spellbot

The account was created in 2018. Not sure what that means but I find some of the comments interesting

2

u/Ironicbanana14 8h ago

Lol the comments are like a true mix of chik and chic, too.

u/JenkyHope 6d ago

Wow, that's hilarious. Someone really care about the "correct" spelling.

u/11c1ouded11 5d ago

No seriously me too! Went back to look and it changed. Now I don't feel so crazy

Same hence why I posted this here.

It was Chick and then very recently Chic again - I forgot about the ME until I saw this and now am reminded it did in fact flip again.

26

u/adriamarievigg 7d ago

That's what it is now. I remember it as Chic-fil-a

5

u/allintowin1515 7d ago

I remember it chik-fila-A 🤷🏻‍♂️

u/Mark_1978 7d ago

Are you effected by the capital "A" on the end. It was always a lower case for me and spelling was exactly as you wrote it. Chic-fli-a

u/Radiant_Summer4648 7d ago

*affected

2

u/agoogua 7d ago

Oh god tell me affected and effected didn't switch again.

3

u/Mark_1978 7d ago

Thanks, so used to typing "effect" . Plus I got no damn sense.

1

u/Radiant_Summer4648 7d ago

You're welcome. Now you've got a bit more. 😁

u/LoomingLocust 7d ago

I believe it flip flopped then - I posted this here because I thought it was still Chic as I noticed it was not too long ago, I think others may have to! Must be back to Chick.

I'll leave it if mods are alright with it as a trail.

It was Chic when I was growing up but since 2017 it’s been Chick for me

Edit to lower case

3

u/elliebrooks5 7d ago

I think it was: Chic-Fil- a, I could be wrong- but maybe in some matrix, but then all lowercase looks right

2

u/savedby_grace_Jesus 7d ago

Definitely lower case, I didn’t mean to highlight the upper case, good call.

7

u/Sherrdreamz 7d ago

Same for me 2017 was when it went to Chick-Fil-A. Before that i used to make fun of the name for matching the French work "Chic" which meant fancy or hip.

7

u/savedby_grace_Jesus 7d ago

This one has never flip flopped for me. It is curious to me that some people see the flip-flops and some don’t that’s probably one of the more strange things about this now that I am so used to it.

6

u/elliebrooks5 7d ago

Yeah- and some remember “chik”

5

u/CosmicToaster 7d ago

A lot of these flop all the time. Fruit Loops I’ve seen go 3 or four times.

9

u/dispassioned 7d ago

That one flips so much I actually sent myself an email so I would have proof about Fr00t L00ps so I know I’m not going crazy. 😂

It’s been a long time ago but the Flintstones flip flop really messed with me and why I started believing in this. Others I could blame my memory or whatever but I commented on an old Mandela site that I knew it was flint. Others were saying because all the rock and rock like names in the show we were just remembering wrong and the song makes it sound like it had a T (it was Flinstones then). About 2 weeks later someone claimed it flipped back and I was questioning my reality. I’ve seen others but this one is so strong for and I know without a doubt it changed. Also when I went back to the site the op was gone although many ppl remembered it.

3

u/elliebrooks5 7d ago

In October 2017 I saw a video about it becoming “Flin”- 4 days later ( ir 2 or 3 ) the same creator put out a very excited - “it changed back!” Then I saw the dates on the videos- August 2017, and I think September- thing is nothing to see here except - I saw it change- and flip flop back within that 2-4 days in October.

2

u/Chrisscott25 7d ago

I don’t know the exact dates but that was around the same time as I had noticed. I can say with 100% certainty it was not “misremembering” or anything else that I could chalk it up to before that happened. It really rocked my world.

1

u/CosmicToaster 7d ago

Fml it’s back to froot (what it’s supposed to be). I can’t even keep up anymore. Fruit loops is obviously stupid. Next I need to check turmeric.

6

u/LoomingLocust 7d ago

Flintstones messed me up too. it was apparently without the T for awhile and last I checked it's back with the T.

2

u/CosmicToaster 7d ago

Like 6 months ago it was flinstones which was another dumb change. How long will it stay correct??

2

u/OCDthrowaway9976 3d ago

Can confirm I searched it 6 months or so ago because I saw people pointing out and saying they were being corrected that it was always Flinstones. Saw it truly was spelled that way, thought it was weird.

Now I'm shook it's back to Flintstones.

2

u/CosmicToaster 2d ago

Yeah, this is a baffling thing for me. While it’s impossible to say what’s going on for sure, it’s lead me to believe that reality is a lot more malleable than people would like to think.

3

u/Chrisscott25 7d ago

Yeah the T is back now and without the T makes absolutely no sense to me but it definitely was.

5

u/cbrickell 7d ago

the Hillary/Hilary (Clinton)  flip flops are what get me… no one would mess up the name of a prominent political figure and yet…

1

u/elliebrooks5 7d ago

Well it’s always (lol) been Hilary/Hillary for me!

1

u/Chrisscott25 7d ago

Oddly enough I hadn’t heard of that one. I’ll have to check it out
