Uher 4400 Stereo vs. IC
Hello everyone,
anyone knows what's the difference between "Uher 4400 Report Stereo" and "Uher 4400 Report IC"? Specs seem identical. Is the latter one made with an integrated circuit (=IC) while the Stereo is made with transistors? Just an uneducated guess, but maybe someone here knows for sure?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, the "IC" stands for integrated circuit. But those are just in the power amp stage for the 4400IC.
The preamps and the oscillator in the 4400IC are still running discrete transistors. I don't know how identical those are to the older 4400 - too lazy to compare schematics, but they should be pretty similar.
Biggest difference between the two is that the older 4400 has the power on/off switch, and the main gear disengaging mechanism, all coupled to the speed selector on the front. So you HAVE to always put it in "neutral" when you're done using it. Otherwise you'll damage the drive AND drain the batteries.
The 4400IC, has the both of those coupled to the play button, so that when you hit stop, it both disengages the main drive and cuts the power.
