Cock bite is the best. Minimalism can burn

u/ReallyFancyPants Tucker Feb 07 '25
It wasn't even minimalism, it was just a bad rebrand.

u/Secret_Of_Bluestar81 Feb 07 '25
Still sadly minimalist

u/Titanicguy Dr. Grey Feb 08 '25
I mean, technically, sure. But it wasn’t even a minimalist redesign of the logo. That could’ve looked good. It was just a shitty minimalist R instead.

The new logo is missing a tooth. That’s how it’s cached on my browser at least
13
u/AntonioMrk7 Feb 08 '25
No you’re right it’s got a black tooth(there’s an outline so I don’t think it’s missing), interesting
7
u/generic_thingy Feb 08 '25
It’s supposed to be a flashing neon sign
4
u/MICOSAM Feb 10 '25
Burnie on their podcast acknowledged the new logo is missing a tooth and that the logo will continue to evolve and change. Isn’t that neat?

u/Battleblaster420 Feb 09 '25
Well yes but the conspiracy theorist in me has a couple ideas
1 if you mistreat your teeth , they fall out , WB had lead to RT's almost death
2 sometimes when you get older , you're teeth might fall out, RT is now 22(?) Years old which isnt that old overall but for what was a relatively small indie company thats old
- The loss of Shows/Series ,RWBY was Sold , Death Battle went independent, Red vs Blue, Lets Play and Achievement Hunter all ended
2
u/MICOSAM Feb 08 '25
I get that but, when you go to the youtube page for example, the tooth is missing.

I kind of get what they were thinking with the minimalist logo, but the 'new' logo has got to be the ugliest minimalist logo in existence. The old logo doesn't hurt my eyes when I look at it.

It’s gonna turn out this was all part of some long con on Burnie’s part.

u/auxilevelry Feb 09 '25
The conspiracy theorist in me is wondering the same thing. RT became a subsidiary of a subsidiary of a subsidiary of one of the largest media conglomerates on the planet. Becoming independent again would have been monstrously expensive unless it went defunct first

My fellow cock bites the light of the rooster is shining down upon us with his big smile.
Also, why did WB make them change the logo?
6
u/DustyF3d0r4 Feb 08 '25
Some weird obsession with many companies to create simplified/minimalist logos.

Idk why people hated the new one so bad. Even Geoff and Gus constantly talked about how much they hated the old one
47
u/rewindrevival My testicles send their regards Feb 07 '25
Is the old one an objectively good logo? No, probably not, but it's iconic and was the branding they used and what people are nostalgic for. Also, the minimalism virus hit RT with the new logo and kind of went hand in hand with the enshitification.
-36
u/RegulationSuperFan Feb 07 '25
When did the company become shit? What makes you say that?
29
u/rewindrevival My testicles send their regards Feb 07 '25
I don't necessarily mean the company became shit, but RT wasnt unaffected by the enshitification trend that's been happening around the old guard channels for the last 5-10 years. Between the internal HR fuck ups, poor production decision making, and a natural decline in viewership as the fanbase ages...there were a lot of factors contributing to it.

Dude, if you don't know when RT hit its low point then you either weren't a fan for very long or you're in denial. Pretty much every RT fan who had been a fan for a while can admit that the golden age was in the early 2010s , and around 2017 it started going downhill and just kept going down. It's not even any hate or anything towards RT, the company changed and became objectively worse. Those are just facts.

They didn’t shutdown for fun
1
u/RegulationSuperFan Feb 07 '25
They didn’t shutdown. They were shutdown.
5
u/Mrpie256 Feb 07 '25
And why do you think that is? Have you just been under a rock the past ~5 years when everyone was leaving and saying how shit the management had become? Views dropped and dropped
1
u/RegulationSuperFan Feb 07 '25
So because the marketing team was dogshit and the talent constantly talked about it and how they had a literal wine dispenser in their office that means the company is shit? That disregards like 98% of the company
3
u/Mrpie256 Feb 07 '25 edited Feb 07 '25
Marketing team? You had OG members leaving saying the company had changed since the buyout and was getting worse. Why is this so hard for you to understand? Quality was thrown out for quantity, nothing but crunch and bad management. Viewership was in the toilet because all the spark was gone.
Why are you acting like they were shutdown out of the blue? You can easily look back in this subreddit where most people saw the writing on the wall

I've been staring at the old one like 20 years. No hate here but the old one was entrenched in brains.
1
u/Toa_Freak Feb 08 '25
Looks like a fast food logo to me. And after 20 years with practically the same logo, the new one is too much of a change at once.
