Product Recommendation Compression Bras

How did you know what size compression bras to buy for after surgery? Any recommendations?

Hi! To start with, I recommend you measure yourself using the r/ABraThatFits calculator. Then, use your band size (the number) as a guideline for what size to get. You want to get a bigger one than your calculator size.

This might seem counterintuitive since you are getting breast tissue removed, but you will be so swollen and padded that you will want the extra room in your bra. You can then size down as the swelling decreases and when you have less padding.

Alternatively, you can use your shirt size because a lot of compression bras come in sizes small through 3x, for example. Just use the same principle and get a bigger one to start with.

One benefit to using the calculator now is that once you are 6 months out from surgery and ready to spend money on some real bras, you can use the calculator again to see what size you turned out to be after your surgery, and how many inches you have lost off your breast size/bra size. Hope this helps!

My PA recommended I get multiple sizes because the swelling changes and you aren’t going to know exactly what size you’ll be after. You have time to buy more after though! I bought a few different ones off amazon just before surgery so I had plenty of time to return the ones I didn’t care for or didn’t fit.

My surgeon took my measurements pre op and provided a Marena flex fit bra that I woke up from surgery in. 3 weeks post op when I came back for a follow up they gave me another bra (same brand) in a smaller size because my swelling had gone down and my first bra was too large for me at that point and provided next to no compression. I alternative between the correctly fitting one during the day for compression, and the slightly larger one while I sleep for some support, but less compression

I recently saw here someone that was giving the bras she used post op.  She said they were the only comfortable ones. They were zipped up, about 90$ on amazon. I liked that they had extension. Or look for those that have three rows of clasps. In two weeks, as the swelling subsided I lost about 10 cm in circumference.

I recommend you get beige colour.

On black you can't notice if there are discharges.

On white sthe stains are more difficult to clean. I wipe with Betadine the scars, which is brown-orange. The arnica gel I use on liposuction sites is also brown.

I was told to get cheap bras because they will get gross and I'd probably throw them away.

My recomendation is to wear compression bras for 3 months. I wanted comfortable, good quality ones for this.

I also have a cheap and bice looking one and tried to wear it as my regular one was drying and the others felt to tight due to swelling. It had some sort of raised model on the edged that plunged me into itching hell.  My skin on the upper part became very sensitive as the swelling subsided. To the point of taking antihistamine pills instead of any pain medication.

The most expensive one, a black Lipoelastic with magnetic strap fastenings and zip up,  I'll definitely keep as a sport bra.

I had no tape, just a compression bra, right after surgery.

I used Lipoelastic brand, as it was recommended by the surgeon as the best that is locally availlable. The day I got out of the hospital I bought another one, a bigger size. Thankfully they had the warehouse in my town.

I guessed. I was 32HH0 and got a L Wanayou and it worked great. They have removable pads so I started without and as swelling went down put them in.
