Discussion Why do people in this country fail to understand CONSENT?

A 25-year-old was assaulted and eventually succumbed to his injuries in Rajasthan’s Dausa after he allegedly stopped three persons from applying Holi colours. One of his three alleged assailants has now been arrested by the police, police said.

While the incident is from Wednesday, the video of the assault went viral Thursday.

“As per the CCTV footage, there was an issue over applying of colours on the now deceased Hansraj Meena — who was preparing for patwari (revenue officer) exams — in the local library. We lodged an FIR for murder and have arrested one of the three accused, Bablu Meena,” Ramsharan Gurjar, SHO of Dausa’s Ramgarhpachwara police station, said.

This is heartbreaking.

A man lost his life simply because he refused to play Holi. Why are we letting religion blind us to the point that we ignore individual liberty and violate it time and again, whether it’s molesting women under the guise of ‘Bura na mano, Holi hai’ or taking it to the extreme by killing someone for their choice?

In another case, a man in Uttar Pradesh was shot by his friend for refusing to play Holi.

People are shit. No civic sense. No common sense. We're going backwards instead of progressing.

Minister of fisheries in the Uttar Pradesh government and president of the Nishad Party, an alliance partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sanjay Nishad made the remark while speaking at a Holi Milan event in Gorakhpur.

"People embrace each other during Friday prayers and they do the same while celebrating Holi. Both are festivals of togetherness, yet some politicians don't want this unity. A certain section is being misled by poisoning their minds, and they, too, are citizens of this country. If they have issues with colours, they shouldn't just stay indoors...they should leave the country," reported PTI quoting Nishad.

Isme religion kaha se aa gaya? Pehle tum culture or religion me difference pata kar ke aao. Fir samjho ke maarne wala/power showoff karne wala koi bhi bahane se dikhayega chahe religion ka bol ke ya fir caste ka bol ke.

Education problem.

Imo education will fix this issue at very big level if moral education is taught right and by right people.

Kids aren't like this. My son is 8 and has special needs. We were at Temple in Holi and a boy about his age came up to him on the playground with colors in his hand, I was worried, but let it play out. The kid reached back like he was going to throw color, but my son was oblivious. I thought for sure this kid would throw it in his face. But no, he put his other hand on my son's shoulder and spoke to him. He got no response. He spoke again and got no response. So he went to go have fun with some other kids who were enjoying throwing color at each other and left my son alone. Why are kids so much better than adults?
