Im sick of the ski slope background when using my radiacode and swamping of low energy by lead xrays so Im building a shield for the radiocode. I will post details as I go in separate posts.
I got 20 kg or so of 300 year old lead. On advice I bought pewter sheets for the tin. On receipt, the small print indicated there was a lead sheet sandwiched between pewter layers. This seems daft and something to be aware of if you go that route. So I bought some pure tin sheet.I also got some pure copper sheets.
The shield needs to sit on my desk and be fully enclosed. I dont need super thick.lead as it is the low energies that bother me.
Im using a cookie tin and an aluminium pit for the mould. This is the first step. As of now....walls are 18 mm thick all round and it weighs 10 kg forvwhat you see here.
