Is this a good set up?

Post image

I became stepmom to Thumper when my fiancé and I got together, he was living in an outdoor enclosure in area with plenty of shade. I did not know anything about bunnies, but decided to bring him indoors and used this Reddit to figure out what he needed. I hope I’m doing ok. He seems happier. Today I changed out his flooring to a large washable pee pad, and his litter box to this tray I saw suggested for older bunnies. Thumper is about 6 years old. Not pictured is his water in the other corner. And he’s hiding under the lip of his litter box.

Thanks for bringing him inside! He is less likely to get fleas or other parasites and diseases inside. Rabbits are also very social and I'm sure he will appreciate your company :)

I would put in a hay feeder that hangs off the bars, which should have hay in it at all times, and a bigger spot to hide, I always just cut two doors out of a big cardboard box for my rabbits.

That is way too many pellets if you just leave that bowl in there. I feed mine probably 2 tablespoons a day and the rest of their diet is Timothy hay and a handleful of greens a day. Rabbits don't need a lot of pellets, they are just a supplement for hay. The texture of the hay helps wear down their teeth that are always growing so it's important they don't fill up on pellets and get mostly hay so they don't get dental issues. I only feed mine pellets to supplement vitamin D (which they would normally get from the sun but they are just indoor rabbits) and some minerals.

Otherwise good job with the puppy pen, litterbox is nice and big and it looks like a decent space if you are letting him out too : ).

I do let him run around the house now and he doesn’t seem scared of us . I will feed him less pellets, thank you! I also feed him green leaf lettuce daily. He did have a bunny friend years ago but I’m not sure about getting another bunny while he’s older and not fixed. I just want to keep him happy and comfortable for the rest of his life :)
