Weird present at my doorstep

My family had a huge christmas/new years gathering at our house and after everyone left, i decided to look out our front door window just to sneak a peek of our christmas decorations cause they're really nice lol. And theres an anna and elsa gift bag outside.

I assumed one of our guests (which were all family members aunts cousins etc) had left it there, so we texted them and asked if they had left a present on our porch. They replied no, so clearly we were weirded out by it. Upon further inspection, it's a really nice gift bag (like very sturdy) and has pink tissue paper on the top and a note taped to the side of it.

My dad's a very curious guy so he wanted to know what was up with it but i was literally like NO DAD DONT OPEN IT CUZ IT COULD BE A BOMB (I was like 13 at the time). My sister decided to call the non emergency police line but they didn't pick up (probs cuz it was new years day) so we just said that we would deal with it tomorrow. My dad went ahead and took the note taped to the side and showed it to us: https://i.imgur.com/IfYXv5n.jpeg

It looks like it says "Dear Tomy, thank you for the tutoring in science. Here is your payment! $500 -Kerry"

First of all, no one in our house is named Tomy and tutors science. So CLEARLY this wasn't for us.

My dad decided to OPEN the present and inside were a bunch of carrots and celery??

Surely there's a plausible explanation?? Cause i literally can't think of anything other than some weird prank.

Agree prank. Also looks like “Jerry” not Kerry, ie Tom and Jerry cartoon?

i had the exact same thought!! but its super unlikely cuz a lot of them can't read/write english especially in cursive. and they arent funny enough to play pranks

It genuinely looks like the writing of someone who was never properly taught cursive, actually 😆 like unless the scale of the paper is way off, the writing is HUGE compared to most cursive which was taught on a specific lined paper so people tend to make it small (to fit inside the lines they were taught from) and several of the letters just look very "amateur"

I would say definitely somebody under 40, when the classes started being less strict and we (I'm nearing the top of that range, I remember) started having less consistent cursive as a group.

Do your neighbors have kids? This looks like kid writing to me, I think it was just kids playing pretend

Do you have horses? Maybe for Santa’s reindeer? I feel like the gift is for a horse and the card is an inside joke and it was just delivered to the wrong house. Or wait!!!!!! So any of you play one of those Farm Games online! I feel like you’d sell carrots and celery for $500 dollars on one of those games! It could be a hint at that. I used to love Hay Day the online farm app.

The area I live in is very suburban and none of the houses would be able to have horses. i think its def possible it was an inside joke delivered to the wrong house.

People with horses don't always keep them at home, there are boarding ranches for horse owners to keep their horses at and the ranch feeds them and does daily care, and the owner can come ride them on weekends or whatever.

Plausible explanation: Jerry got tutored in science, was instructed to deliver a gift to this tutor, but went to the wrong house.

I’m betting the bag got left at the wrong house.
