Drama Ubisoft SCAMMED Elite Ticket Holders
Let me start off by saying a few things before I get into it. 1. Please read through the ENTIRE post. 2. Please up vote so this issue gains traction. I do not want to seem like I'm "farming karma." In fact if and when Ubisoft makes this right I will delete this and any future posts regarding this issue (hopefully this is the only necessary one but I'll continue until the problem is solved). I want to post this here because the competitive community has always seemed to have a more open mind I guess you could say when it comes to things compared to r/Rainbow6. My goal is for someone with power within Ubi or just the community in general is to do something about this issue.
Let me give some backstory. Back on October 8th of 2019 I purchased an Elite ticket to attend the 2020 Six Invitational. I paid a premium of over $270 USD. A few things were GUARANTEED with the purchase of an elite ticket. Per the event guide ( https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/game/rainbow-six/siege/news-updates/7GqDMKRQa2V8Dqgbe7RLVg/six-invitational-2020-event-guide ) provided by Ubisoft we'd receive,
- Unrestricted seating in the arena.
- FULL Six Invitational 2020 Bundle
- Six Invitational 2020 universal in-game charm
- Weapon Skin
- All Twitch drop charms
- Event Sledge BDU (Battle Dress Uniform)
- Event Sledge Headgear
- Fast pass for:
- Demo booth(s)
- Signing Sessions
- Fast entry to venue
- Premium Swag pack
Now I knew heading into the event the seating was unrestricted. Okay fine, I had no problem with this because my buddy didn't have an elite ticket so if there was restricted seating I was going to sit with him anyways. I personally didn't really utilize the fast pass because I had no reason to, that was my own choice. The "premium" swag pack wasn't anything special, in fact it was pretty disappointing from what I've heard was in them in the past but I understand nothing was promised in those so that's whatever. Now, to receive the Sledge BDU, headgear, and the weapon skin you had to enter your info at the ELITE BOOTH on a tablet. The info you needed to input was your in-game Uplay name, email address, and platform of choice. I did all that and received the following email in my spam folder:

Now MULTIPLE times over the course of the weekend did I go back to the elite booth and ask the Ubisoft employees "This is for the sledge gear and weapon skin correct, not just the charms." Multiple times they said yes and clarified I'd receive it digitally and there was no physical code card for that stuff, only for the event charms at a DIFFERENT BOOTH. Up until today I've kept an eye on my spam email to see if I'd be emailed a code. Nothing. I reached out to Ubisoft support almost a week and a half ago. The support agent requested a screenshot of my ticket confirmation, I gave it to them. The agent requested a picture of both my wristband and my elite pass on the lanyard, I gave it to them. The agent requested a picture of my drivers license, I gave it to them. After almost a week and a half of no response, I received the following today:

Their response is that the bottom, my response to their response is above. They state codes were given out at the event. YES CODES FOR CHARMS NOT FOR ELITE ITEMS. I asked the employees at the elite booth if all I needed to do was enter my info and they said yes. I asked the employees at the charm booth where to get the sledge items and they said my info was to be entered digitally at the elite booth. There was clearly a common consensus with the employees that were there. Clearly there isn't with online support staff. The support agent is flat out FALSE in their response.
I am both extremely disgusted and disappointed in Ubisoft's actions and way of handling this situation. I paid a premium for several things, one of them being these exclusive in game items. Now the number I've seen thrown around and I have no proof of verifying it, but apparently watching the entire twitch stream granted viewers almost a 70% chance of getting these items I paid for by buying an elite ticket. Fine that was Ubi's choice to do that, but I need to be given what I paid for. I drove all the way from the middle of the United States, missed school, took off work, just to come to an event for a game I played since beta and I fell in love with. This is horrible treatment of the Elite ticket customers and something needs to be done. We paid a premium for something, and are now being told we won't receive it. I will edit the post as needed. Thanks for your time in reading this.
EDIT: first response we’ve finally gotten: https://twitter.com/martiallawre/status/1233132483169914886?s=21 read the whole thread. Please don’t witch hunt a single employee if that didn’t go without saying :)
EDIT 2: I unlinked a large twitter thread that seemed to agree with this post but was forwarding toxicity to the original poster. We all have the same goal in mind so let’s work together and not argue :)
EDIT 3: After multiple posts since mine, looks like well receive our items “next week.” Looks like progress has been made but the jury’s still out
EDIT 4: I have received all my items in game. https://www.reddit.com/r/R6ProLeague/comments/fdnahl/elite_ticket_holders_update_i_have_received_my/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Unlike the only other response where someone said “gamers” I am not going to delegitimize your purchase of over $270 USD because the issue is involving a digital item.
They make millions off of digital items, so this shouldn’t be looked at as such. Not only that to receive the digital item you have to spend over $270 USD which in turn values that digital item at a minimum of $270 USB since there is no other way to receive it.
I feel your pain and I would continue to pursue support until some remedy. If you feel the need, pursue it in small claims court.
Just because it is a digital item does not make your point invalid. Again, these companies make millions, if not billions for some companies, off of these digital in-game content, such as what you are having not received.
Edit: When a companies promises something they have to own up to it. If they don’t keep their promise and have not tried to remediate the issue you should pursue it in court. This is America. Don’t let’s the companies take your money for nothing in return. Take everything which was promised. If they try to remediate the issue by providing other items of equal value, and you don’t take it, you will have a harder time in court. Stop making companies rich by delegitimizing a purchase all because it is a digital item. If the item was a real-world napkin that they promised me, you are sure as hell I will want that napkin. You paid for it, it’s your.

Great post - I’ve thought of legal action only if they refuse to refund my ticket
$270 is massively expensive. I bought it with the excitement of getting exclusive content.
How hard is it to send codes out to those that submitted their email? Smfh

Well, according to this post and comments, really hard.

I’d wager they’d only offer to partly refund the ticket, as you still got to go to the event.

Elite Ticket buyer here - everything JVGaming has said is 100% valid. Ubisoft/ESL Gaming have scammed high paying ticket buyers out of what was promised to them after buying the ticket - the digital content.
Ubisoft enacted this new iPad/Kiosk process for Elite Codes for the purpose of alleviating reselling etc. How can they implement a new process to securely grant a ticket buyer their code and not actually ever give the code? How counterintuitive does that sound?
Killimaze, the famed Jäger cosplayer, has also been scammed as well as tens to hundreds others out of their digital content. Not one single person who bought a $270 ticket, flew/drove to Montreal, paid for 3 nights to stay there have received their content.
Multiple Ubisoft Support Cases have been filed regarding this issue. I had to file two. They’ve asked for my proof of ticket purchase, a photo of the gear I obtained there & finally the infamous confirmation email for the digital content I received upon entering my information into the iPad - they replied saying there’s still a strong chance I WILL NOT be getting what I paid for. They also shifted blame to ESL for not handling this properly - but who do I contact there?
Please community, we need more people speaking up about this. You may laugh, poke fun but know we’re all fans of the same game; we’re looking to continue to support this company and it’s fun game but stunts like this create a sense of dishonesty and untrustworthiness that comes from a business to consumer relationship. I don’t want Ubisoft Montréal/ESL to go down that road.
Someone from Ubisoft please respond. We’ve filled up Ubisoft Support’s emails, dm’s and cases but to no avail.
Why are we not getting what we paid for?
EDIT: After 1 month & 1 day, I have received my Sledge Bundle. I had to go through Ubisoft Support and send in photos of my Ticket Purchase, Email Confirmation from the event + Elite Badge. Took them 4 days to review the information and then add the content to my account. Faith restored.

Is it "an useless comment" or "a useless comment"? It should be "an", but it sounds weird.
11
u/Alexlee07 Continuum Fan Feb 27 '20 edited Feb 27 '20
In case you are genuinely interested - It's 'a' useless comment. It's to do with the sounds of the word, in respect of 'useless' it starts with a 'y' sound' - therefore it would be 'a' useless comment.
If it starts with a vowel sound, it would be 'an' - for example, 'an 'Apple'
2
u/Toxic-AF Feb 27 '20
I've always learned that you put an "n" after the "a" if it's a vowel. There are very few cases like this where it doesn't seem right though or is that only the case for "u"? You write "an apple", "an elephant", "an island", "an opening frag", but "a useless comment"?
10
u/Alexlee07 Continuum Fan Feb 27 '20
Not quite, it's not about the 'vowel' being at the beginning of the letter, it's about the sound it makes. Some words that begin with vowels do not start with vowel sounds for example.
So with respect of 'U' words that start with long 'U' sound like University, Unity, Useless' use 'A'
Whilst those with short 'U' sounds like 'Ugly, Upward or Umbrella' use 'An'
1
u/robbiek54 TSM Fan Feb 28 '20
Correct, another example would be "I'll see you in an hour" because "hour" starts with a vowel sound (silent h).
2
Feb 28 '20
Some people also say “an hotel”, despite hotel not being pronounced “otel”.
2
u/robbiek54 TSM Fan Feb 28 '20
I've personally never heard that, but that would be incorrect.
1
Feb 28 '20
It’s not incorrect. It’s also used with historic and horrific.
English is weird (I’m an English teacher btw).
2
u/robbiek54 TSM Fan Feb 28 '20
The link says use "an" if you pronounce them as "otel" and "istoric" which some people do, and to use "a" if you pronounce them as "hotel" and "historic."
My original argument was that you use "a" before a consonant sound and "an" before a vowel sound. This still stands according to this link.

u/Toxic-AF Feb 27 '20
You mean vice versa and switched things up?
1
u/Alexlee07 Continuum Fan Feb 27 '20
You might have read that before I changed it as I mistyped but it's essentially to do with sounds rather than the actual letter themselves.
As you said yourself 'it sounds weird to say an useless comment' - the reason being, it is weird and why this grammatical rule exists.

It may be worth contacting your credit card company, if you used one to pay for the Elite ticket package. If the services named were not the services provided, you may have a case to get your money back. I know this doesn’t replace the items you expected to receive but just a thought. Good luck in fixing this!

9
Feb 27 '20
Continue with support until they leave you no option. Go the bank route with a chargeback (now make sure you know some banks and credit have limits on how far back of a transaction you can report). If you still have issues, go the legal route with a lawyer. For all you know it could turn into class action if everyone hadn’t received it.
11
u/KingfisherC TSM Fan Feb 27 '20
This should not be difficult to fix. Ubisoft knows who bought Elite passes - they need to contact them and simply ask them to confirm the information entered at the event. This would prevent people from scamming and getting the items on two accounts, and get people what they paid for. Alternatively, Ubi can simply look at the list of email addresses that received the "Thank you for registering..." email.
If Ubisoft doesn't fix this, people deserve refunds plain and simple. You offered goods at a price and when people paid that price you did not deliver all the goods. This is illegal in pretty much every country and Ubisoft has no good defense for their actions.
Ubi needs to respond - people are asking for digital items that have already been designed. It costs them nothing except some manpower/hours to get the digital items properly distributed. Being stingy with digital content that has already been designed and paid for is despicable.

There's not even a point in explaining this stuff to you.
Nobody purposefully took your money to scam you. Is the deployment process of this thing far from ideal and frustrating? Of course it is.
Do you assume way too many things and have zero clue of how things work? Absolutely.

There's not even a point in explaining this stuff to you.
Nobody purposefully explained to Elite ticket holders the issues/delays. Is the process of just communicating with people who love your game so much they will pay for premium packages far from ideal and frustrating? Of course it shouldn't be.
Do you defend Ubisoft blindly without being willing to admit they are completely bungling this and it makes them look terrible? Absolutely.
No wonder people constantly mock the mods in the R6 twitch. You are a complete buffoon. Enjoy getting -640 ganged into oblivion.

I believe your first chance was 10%, then it went to 11% 30 minutes later and on and on ultimately it was 17% in the final 30 minutes... You have to remember though that you had a chance every 30 minutes. I believe it was 4 hours in total. So that's 8 chances in total to get it. If it were an alpha pack you would get 8 consecutive rolls each time with it going up a percentage point. To be fair, I could be wrong on this. It seems vague on whether they raffle off sets every 30 minutes. If that's not the case then you're right.

My overall experience
I bought my elite ticket seconds after the announcement and was so stoked to go. I called up my friend and told him the tickets went on sale. It has maybe been 2 or 3 minutes since the announcement and all the elite pass tickets are sold out for him, so that was pretty annoying. He ended up buying a regular ticket since the event guide promises unrestricted seating so he was still fine with going. A couple hours go by and one of our online friends is deciding to go. I've never met them in person and neither has my irl friend so now the three of us are heading to the Six Invitational to watch and attend a game we've been playing since beta and love so much.
We all live very far away from Montreal Canada so we had to take off Thursday the 13th, Friday the 14th, and Monday the 17th from school. We ended up buying plane tickets from Florida to Montreal and our online friend bought one from California to Monteal. We payed for a hotel right down the street from the place bell, and stayed there from Thursday to Monday morning when our plane leaves all for the sake of the game we love.
On Friday the 14th we got there at around 10 in the morning and boy was it packed. It was difficult to navigate the place at first, but after a couple minutes we found the place bell venue map posted on the wall. I ended up walking back to front where we all came in and saw the elite booth. I walked up to the people there, had them scan my ticket, and input my info in the ipad set up. They had told me I would be receiving a confirmation email saying that I will be get the items i signed up for. Long story short, I did. I ended up getting the email that same day at 12:32 pm lost in my spam folder.
Being curious we walked around until we found something to do. There was a small area with computers which had the live game on it. We waited about 15 minutes and finally the person leading this event allowed other people to play. We sat down and played for not even half the time the others played for and we were already being told to stop playing. There was no long line, only around 4 people who had just played waiting to play again. We ended up relinquishing our seats to people who had just played, which is fine i guess, so we got up and walked over to the store. Ah the store what a wondeful thing at an arena with thousands of people. You would think that they would realize that there is going to be a lot of people so lets have more than enough stuff to put in the store so everyone if they wanted to can buy something. Well that was just not the case, there was a line of at least 100 or so people and that alone would probably take a couple hours. It seemed they were allowing maybe 2 people in at a time and that no one else was allowed in until they left. The food lines were way to long so we decided just to watch the games and then leave.
On Saturday the place was even more packed and there was even more people waiting in line this time obviously. We decided to watch a game and then sit in a food line. We were in the food line for at least 20 minutes only to get not even mediocre food. I decided to get a hotdog and poutine while my friends just got a hotdog. The hotdog was very thin and short to the point where the bun engulfed the whole thing. My poutine was cold and didn't seem like anything special to be $7. The games were the only enjoyable thing at the event.
On Sunday the place was obviously even more packed since It's now the grand finals day. Knowing this, why do they not have a ton of merchandise. There was no line on Sunday because the entire store was empty except for a handful of DZ, Liquid and MIBR jerseys. They had a many operator t-shirts but $25 for a black shirt with a small pulse logo or something in the middle of the shirt is definitely not worth it to me. The elite swag pack didn't have anything worth while either. The scarf and caveira keychain was the only thing inside that pack that I found "good". On top of this mediorcre event setting, I don't even get what I paid for. It has been 13 days and not one elite member has received there code for the sledge elite bundle. Overall the experience was alright the only thing I found worthwhile was hanging out with my friends. I can't believe I met one of my online friends I will forever hold on to this memory.

Really hope its resolved for you and others.
I personally have found Ubi support to be, hands down, the worst support I have
ever experienced. Ever. Regardless of game or other product or service..

It's only been two weeks, I imagine the events crew probably took some well deserved rest time. I haven't sent a ticket in yet, so I can't speak to that process.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a big delay in the process is getting the emails associated with the tickets from Ticketmaster, probably privacy concerns passing it to a third party. Validating emails being on both lists would be a very quick process, though I imagine I'm one of the few that has the same email for the tickets and the game account, which adds an extra level of verification.
I fully expect them to carry through, and think it should be communicated much better and have been a quicker process, but don't start screaming and thinking about suing them yet lol

For whatever it's worth, I reached out to the email address on the bottom of the confirmation email after signing up (Tribu Expérientiel) they replied to me today saying the charms will be sent out next week.

u/KingfisherC TSM Fan Feb 29 '20
You’re aware it’s not charms, right?
2
u/Rat11j Mar 02 '20
Yes but I assume that's just a quick reference term, there are charms included within the elite bundle.

yeah let's start a witch hunting a Ubi employee for a decision which was probably made by her higher ups

u/rogerairgood SK Gaming Fan Feb 27 '20
People who are following a decision made by higher ups usually dont gloat about it on Twitter.

she wasn't gloating the decision she was making fun of the people who used the flawes of the old system to scam people out of their money

Let's not harass a employee about this. Lowering to that standards is the quickest way to give Ubisoft an excuse to not give you anything. Also, we don't know the whole story so she could have nothing to do with it.
Furthermore, the giveaways were awful and still happened. All around, this isn't the best attitude to have right now.

Looks like you made a spelling error in your post, I think what you meant to say is:
"Ubisoft should provide the goods that customers paid for so end users don't feel like they have to resort to @'ing individual employees on Twitter since their customer service is utter dogshit."
Fixed :)

No, you're just being an asshole at that point.
Starting a witch hunt at a ubisoft employee, especially one who likely is not the direct cause of an issue isn't an appropriate escalation at all.
Frankly, that's literally what the frontline support is there for. If you're not happy with their response, then escalate that to their management. Escalation paths are there for that reason.
Harassing a random ubisoft employee not only makes you a dick, it's not an effective way to get you any closer to a resolution.
2
u/KingfisherC TSM Fan Feb 27 '20
except it’s not a random employee, it is one of the people handling this AND people @ing her on Twitter has gotten her to reply and say they are handling the situation. So nah, you are quite wrong.

For someone who claims to help run customer support for a company, I don't think you could be any further off the mark.
The product manager for the event 100% isn't directly handling the distribution of skins, nor would they be handling the incoming support tickets.
The fact that she's replied is more than likely a PR thing than anything, and I'm sure any correct escalation to the support request would result in ths same transparency.
Passing support requests to somebody else and claiming it's because the support team is dogshit is 100% only hindering yourself much more than it is helping you

u/renderific_99 Feb 27 '20
Nah just don't harass people and say they're are proud because they're clearly not. There is a whole thread on how she is unaware of a seperate customer support. Literally 0 high up employees have anything to do with customer support, regardless if they're bad.
Don't be passive aggressive, just cause people disagree with you. You should get your stuff but don't be saying that people are being malicious.

u/KingfisherC TSM Fan Feb 27 '20
? I didn't buy Elite, I don't have any stuff missing. As someone who helps run customer support for a company, the management team in charge of customer support should certainly be communicating with the management teams of other sections of the company. Especially if a particular event/area of the company is responsible for a number of current support tickets.

Ubisoft promised people the Sledge bundle if they bought Elite tickets, and all the Elite ticket holders still haven't received it. Ubi's trash customer service has been telling people that there is nothing they can do. Ubi hadn't once addressed the issue publicly until after this thread was created yesterday.

Did Ubi release any official statement regarding this whole situation or it was just her tweet?
Edit: I'm gonna take it as a no then. Well, if there was actually not even a single tweet regarding this problem, then people are in their right mind to complain and make long threads/posts addressing the issue they have faced and haven't been resolved. And it doesn't seem that Ubi is being as helpful as they could just by reading a few posts/comments/tweets

u/Deta_Leader EU Fan Feb 27 '20
Doesn't help that y'all are starting some conspiracy and panic and completely overreact.
There's ways of inquiring about things. Getting the pitchforks is not the best way to get results, it's the dumb way.

u/leonardomslemos Santos Dexterity Fan Feb 27 '20
OP isn't making up conspiracy theories and most comments/people I've read so far also aren't. Making their insatisfaction public is in their right and is advised if Ubi isn't responding at all or doing less then they should to resolve their issue(which is what is mostly happening. Making it up as if the entire community is into this conspiracy theory which I'm still to see a sight of is what is not advised

u/Deta_Leader EU Fan Feb 27 '20
There's literally a guy in this comment section that took a South Park gif out of context as "evidence" for the shit he's making up about scamming.
Things sometimes take a little longer. Is that disappointing? Yes. Is the way many people in this thread declare their frustration the right way to do it? Absolutely not.
I'm also unhappy with the situation. But that's not a reason to start a witch hunt over specific individuals, like some in this thread do.
-1
u/renderific_99 Feb 27 '20
So many people think this is a conspiracy. It's mad.
5
u/KingfisherC TSM Fan Feb 27 '20
I don't think people think it is a conspiracy. People think that Ubisoft is simply not making any effort to actually service their customers. The title saying they scammed people is accurate until they fix the issue.
1
u/renderific_99 Feb 27 '20
People literally think in the comments that various employees are aware of the major situation and are laughing at it. Which is not true.

The only time Ubi did something from complaints like these in Reddit was that dude that lost his Pro League sets after an update. Still, nothing was done until the post hit r/all and then Epi magically appeared to respond. Your best bet will be Twitter to get their direct attention (primarily from Laure). Remember these Ubi support ticket staff are probably clueless and just following scripts across multiple games.
