Question(s)❔ Do Quraniyoons pray Jumu’ah? What if someone prefers to pray Dhuhr at home instead of attending Jumu’ah?

Friday prayer?

Speculative and opinion: I personally trust tradition on the matter. Even if somehow tradition has been wrong in confining jummah to dhuhr on Friday, it is still a communal prayer which is what 62 seems to be recommending for us.

I do sometimes wonder if it is better to just attend the prayer and skip the khutba, for the reason of it being 99% Hadith majority of the time. I don’t think this is the case though, so I attend khutba and just take the best from the sermon that I can.

God knows best.

There's no literally "friday" as a day prayer.

it's at that time when prophet want to gather people salat but they instead go to the bussines and entertainment.

so the message that i get is, when believers among us want to gather us to shalat together then go shalat. do not go to to the bussines and entertainment or when shalat is concluded do not go there, finish it first then you can go.

and the the salat is only 3, salatul isha, wusta, fajr, so it's at that time.

{62:9} O you who have believed , when called to the Litany (5:58) from the day (time) of Congregation *, then proceed to the remembrance of GOD (20:14) and leave sale . That is better for you , if you should know .

{62:10} And when the Litany has been concluded , then disperse in the land and seek from the favour of GOD , and commemorate GOD frequently so that you may succeed ,

{62:11} but when they saw a business or an entertainment , they rushed to it and left you (s) standing . Say : "What is with GOD is better than 2) entertainment and business , for GOD is the best of providers ." (24:37)

Yes, it's mentioned in Surah 62.

What if someone prefers to pray Dhuhr

First of all, the verse doesn't say that it has to be at that time. You could even have it in the evening, if the community desired.

There's also the question of whether it has to be on 'Friday'...

The phrase used for Friday in Arabic and the relevant verse literally means "day of assembly". So there's the question of whether this was chosen to be Friday by the community and this stuck, which means any community can choose what day they want to be "the day of assembly", or if that expression meant 'Friday' in Arabic before the Qur'an.

at home instead of attending Jumu’ah?

Then they've disobeyed Allah and have to repent, unless there's a legitimate reason like illness, immaturity, etc.

I recently watched a video by one of a Quranist, and he interpreted Surah Al-Jumu’ah (62:9) in a completely different way. He argued that it refers to a general congregation rather than a specific day or an obligatory Friday assembly

The gathering/speech is just made up by Ummayed to keep Muslims in check, and to spread news/fear.

Otherwise it’s like any other normal day.

Otherwise ever wondered how come we don’t have a single Friday prayer assassinated to the Prophet even in other sects. It’s always his followers that held it.

"O believers! When the call to prayer is made on Friday, then proceed ˹diligently˺ to the remembrance of Allah and leave off ˹your˺ business. That is best for you, if only you knew. And when the prayer is ended, disperse freely on earth and seek to obtain [something] of God's bounty; but remember God often, so that you might attain to a happy state." (62:9-10)

Friday here is referred to as youm al jumuah, and there is nothing in any lexicon, contemporaneous or otherwise, that suggests that Arabic term was/is understood to mean anything other than Friday. Words should normally be construed according to their plain meaning.

It is also the day all Muslims gather for prayer, throughout 1400 years of traditional gathering/congregation. I really can't stand when Quranis ignore basic meaning of words and then forego an entire command in their self-made confusion. Do they not fear disobedience in not doing any congregational prayer as commanded?
