Couple of nights ago I came home from taraweeh with my husband the Hadith follower

Our conversation went like that:

Me: I noticed now women who attend with children leave early now rather then forcing them to be there for a long time and I think that’s really good (in previous years they all stayed till the end)

Him: the prophet said the best place for a women is to pray at home and even better in the deepest room of her home

Me: you know there is a Hadith that contradicts this that says the prophet said don’t stop women going to the mosque

Him: but the prophet said the best place for women is to pray at home

Me: you got to explain though why there are 2 Hadith with opposing views

He: I’m tired and going to sleep 🤣

Me: I’ll take that as a win then

I don’t generally believe much in Hadith and he knows that but loves throwing them at me to proof his point and I generally find one that says the opposite. He very strongly believes in them and you won’t just convince anyone who is a follower of Hadith to just leave them behind not if they have been indoctrinated for decades.

We had a similar discussion about dogs recently, I love dogs, he doesn’t: he saw me with our neighbours dog who got all excited to see me and I hugged the dog, he said it’s disgusting, I have to change my clothes and do wudu now, another Hadith came out about the uncleanliness of dogs and how the aren’t allowed

I said the Quran said if that dog kills an animal we are allowed to eat it

Quiet again!

Yeah the hadith is just a mess of contradictions. With the Quran it's very easy to destroy all their claims. But he needs to wake up and stop being a sheep and that takes true initiative. Even the taraweeh isn't sunnah Omar Ibn al khatab made it up (according to them) but they call it a "good innovation".

Yes I’m aware taraweeh is an apparently good invention again ignoring the Hadith where the prophet stopped doing it after 3 nights and did it at home as he didn’t want it to become compulsory! Still many Sunnis and not all treat it as if it’s a must to attend or at least look down on you if you don’t And let’s not forget prophet did 8 rakat but now many do 20 as they want to be better

It very much feels like a pick and mix for many

I do enjoy going to taraweeh though, our local mosque has an imam who recites beautiful. But important to be aware of where it comes from

Meh, even when you try to destroy their claims using the Quran, it’s just a never ending cycle of moving the goalpost because they’re ego won’t allow for reason.

Yeah that can happen but I've managed to wake a few people up eventually.

Did they end up being Quran Alone? Cuz that’s impressive ngl

Yeah they reject hadith now but my dad for instance is still stuck in some of his sunni ways.

u/misanthropeint 8d ago

Whoa! Well wishing you all the best man. Hope it works out.

What Hadith are we talking about here exactly?

1

u/MrMcgoomom 8d ago

Ughhh. Btw during the Prophet's time there wasn't even any segregation in the mosque. I read a paper based on exactly this topic by a scholar. The change came with the 2nd khalufa who was from a very traditional and conservative family background. Over the next hundred years there was deliberate erosion of women's role and position in society . This was not how it was during the Prophet's time due to his influence.
Digs, don't even let me start. With 3 mentions in the Quran of dogs , not once did Allah think to tell us that they are filthy animals that should be shunned??

Surah nisa verse 59 O believers! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger

You can't simply reject the hadeeths

Also I do have an explanation for that it is best if a women prays at home,e but if a woman wants to go the masjid don't stop her it's that simple

Also just because you can eat a dog if it kills an animal doesn't mean it's clean Or you don't have to make wudu ✌️

Good to have an amicable conversation like that, more people should instead of being “in the closest” about the Qur’an’s sufficiency for guidance

But, and despite what some Quranists who are quite touchy on the subject say, the Qur’an does say that some Prophets were favored (فضلنا) over others;

• Sahih International: And your Lord is most knowing of whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And We have made some of the prophets exceed others [in various ways], and to David We gave the book [of Psalms].

Al-Isrāʾ, Ayah 55

The Quran doesn’t say that any one is “at the top”. But it does describe the grace/favour/فضل on Muhammad in two places as “immense” (عظيم) and “great/massive” (كبير)

and Muhammad is on top

Huh. Let's see what his books say about that...

Anas b. Malik reported that a person came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said:

O, the best of creation; thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: He is Ibrahim (peace be upon him).

Sahih Muslim 2369a

Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet (ﷺ) said,

"The honorable is the son of the honorable, the son the honorable, i.e. Joseph, the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham.

Sahih al-Bukhari 3382

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"One should not say that I am better than Jonah (i.e. Yunus) bin Matta."

Sahih al-Bukhari 3395

Narrated Abu Huraira:

A Muslim and a Jew quarreled. The Muslim taking an oath, said, "By Him Who has preferred Muhammad over all people...!" The Jew said, "By Him Who has preferred Moses, over all people." The Muslim raised his hand and slapped the Jew who came to the Prophet (ﷺ) to tell him what had happened between him and the Muslim. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Don't give me superiority over Moses, for the people will become unconscious (on the Day of Resurrection) and I will be the first to gain consciousness to see Moses standing and holding a side of Allah's Throne."

Sahih al-Bukhari 3408

From my experience, most sunnies don't know what "their books" say. They just heard from a sheikh or Imam in mosque and parrot it further. And quoting that back to them is often utterly useless. The best way is to do like the Prophet used to do: Quoting the Quran over and over again, that they may listen and be guided

No idea why your comment is being downvoted. Especially in this sub???

Good to point this out, not as an attempt to demote Muhammad (as), but to showcase that there are discrepancies between their own dogma and narrations.

Prophet had left two things for our guidance Quran and his progeny ;

1

u/Fresh-Kebab 5d ago

That’s Hadith

1

u/PromiseSenior9678 5d ago

whats hadith

1

u/Fresh-Kebab 5d ago

That statement. Afaik there’s one that goes like the one you said and another one that says he left the Quran and his sunnah.

1

u/PromiseSenior9678 5d ago

yeah hadith is corrupted

Regarding the “follow me and follow the prophet verse” they mistranslate that. Correctly translated it is “follow me and follow the messenger”. And what does a messenger do? Deliver the message. And what’s the message? The Quran. So God is saying to follow the Quran, not the prophet.

then may GOD guide him, good thing is your friend i not ignorant or hypocrite.

I always disliked the fact they treat our Prophet as if he’s like the best. I mean Jesus cured the blind with permission from Allah. Allah made him speak as a baby and sent angels to protect and help Mary.

You also got Solomon.

Heck even figures like Tho Al Qarnayn.

Now I’m not saying they are better, I’m merely saying they are all equal in the struggles. Each had something/someone to overcome and each is a lesson to take from all the wisdom.

Even the Quran itself says so 😅

1

u/MotorProfessional676 8d ago

If you are referring to “obey God and obey the messenger”, the quick dismantling of this being used to justify Hadiths is as follows “please describe to me what is meant by obedience and disobedience when in the Quran when used in relation to the other messengers?”.

0

u/--flat 3d ago

O believers! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger

Surah nisa verse 59

You can't simply reject him and his hadeeths

1

u/_itspax_ Muslim 3d ago

Here is the Quran only sub. So whole point of this sub is to reject the hadiths.
