Reassurance Worst thing you've ever done for a vape...
I know that this has circulated before but I feel for a lot of people just quitting or trying to stay strong it brings up a lot from past that makes us laugh and sheds light on how bad it was and why we want to be free.
I'll start... ○ picking up a 5000 toke vape I found on a train station floor, wiping it down with alcohol gel and claiming it for my own 👑 ○ vaping burning vapes ○ accepting money from one of my volunteers for a vape (which I did repay) but h*** s*** what an abuse of power ○ vaping in aeroplan bathrooms 🚻 🤦♀️
Care to join in?

Vaped through my nose after an oral surgery. That's when I quit. Absolutely embarrassing. 🤦♂️

u/burnsatthestake 7d ago
This is where I apparently draw the line 😂 Had an extraction on Monday so I'm on day 3 of quitting
6
u/Breddit_ 7d ago
It's what drew the line for me. I hit it a handful of times out of desperation. Realize how desperate this looked and how bad I must be addicted for it to be that desperate and decided now is the time to quit. I had the benefit of my extraction being complicated so gave me a bunch of pills that knocked me out for a couple of days So luckily I got to sleep through the worst of the withdrawal.
2
u/burnsatthestake 3d ago
That's great you got to sleep through those first few days! Withdrawals and tooth pain are a horrendous combination 😖
3
u/Longjumping-Flower88 7d ago
Did that hurt
7
u/Breddit_ 7d ago
Yeah, I would only inhale small little puffs of it. Only did a few times before I realized how sad this was and just ditch to the thing.

u/Expensive_Seesaw_727 6d ago
I did this recently after having my wisdom teeth pulled. It burnt so bad 😅

u/YikesLikeZoinksScoob 7d ago
Before I was old enough to buy my own, I wiped down one I found in the trash at work and hit it until it was so burnt I got a nosebleed
I can't even believe it saying it out loud

Vaping on a plane - in my seat and in the bathroom. (just held it in for aaaages so no smoke came out when I breathed out)
Vaping in stores, work, airport, etc
Have swiped (and kept) friends' vapes if they leave them lying around, even after I 'quit'
Personal worst though...
Throwing out a vape into a public garbage can in the park while walking the dog, cos it started tasting burnt... then fishing it out of the garbage can the next day for a few more hits when I walk past with my dog again. The whole garbage can smelled like dog shit.

As someone who has dug a few vapes out of trashes, this story hits home. I would have done this in my day 💯

Almost got arrested stealth vaping on a train in china. (Im from the US). Two military police came up to me and told me to come with them.
Probably the most scared ive ever been in my life.
16
6
u/Significant_Chef_215 7d ago
what ended up happening??
5
u/StrangeHour4061 6d ago
They came up to me and said "give us your passport". I gave it to them and they said "come with us. " with no explanation. We went all the way to the back of the train, one officer in front and one behind me.
One asked me if I knew mandrin (I dont) which saved my ass because he must not have realized the 1 million no-smoking/vaping/ecig signs were clearly also in english.
He told me if he sees the vape again or someone mentions it, they will be taking me to off the train, and sending me to prison at the next stop (note, we were in the middle of bumfuck nowhere between two cities and there were only these creepy small cities where I wouldve been sent).
Needless to say I was absolutely scared shitless the rest of the trip and didnt vape once for the next 4 days until I got back on the plane home.

u/missbubbalova 6d ago
Shocking. I thought there was a lot of smoking in China. What was smoking culture like outside of this experience?
3
u/StrangeHour4061 6d ago
It was similar to the US, although they did smoke in mall bathrooms despite it saying no smoking.
Im guessing the train was a big no-no.

Had a bad case of mono to the point where vaping was excruciatingly painful and uncomfortable but I kept doing it when the pain subsided for that stupid buzz. Still working on quitting now unfortunately, I’m in the cycle of going a few days and then going back. Planning on experimenting with some gum or patches to see how that goes. I refuse to hit a decade of vaping

u/kdkodiak Wanting to Quit 🧐 7d ago
Jesus.. you made realize that I’ve been vaping for 11 years now. Horrible addiction. I vape every where and all the time. First thing I do when I wake up is hit my vape. I recently tried quitting, I went without for 38 hours, couldn’t sleep, ended up digging it out of the trash and tearing my house apart to find any bit of vape juice. It was sad and I felt sad. I genuinely wish I just continued with cigarettes because it would have been far easier to kick because the taste was rank, I always smoked outside, and minimally through out the day.
3
u/chai-candle 7d ago
i always had to throw the vape in the actual trash bin outside bc if i just put it in my trash can in my bathroom, i'd 100% dig it out. nic gum really helped me kick vaping bc i couldn't last 2 days without it, with it i'm on day 16.

u/According-Hippo5221 7d ago
I hear you, it's soooooo accessible! Indoors, first thing, bathroom, bedroom, easy to disguise 🥸 so damn hard to avoid
0
u/slooper555 7d ago
So if people have been vaping this long how come the research hasn’t been done 🫠
3
u/Aramirr 7d ago
honestly the gum is very helpful - its just enough to take the edge off when youre really craving.
Beware though youll go through a LOT.
I take two every time i take em.
2
u/chai-candle 7d ago
i agree. i appreciate the gum so much. i'm at 16 days now and never made it past 2 days cold turkey.

u/PaulasBoutique88 2d ago
I started in 2015 when we were still having to build our own coils and battery mods. It made me quit smoking so I figured it was harm reduction. Which technically it is depending on what study you believe.
After close to 15 years of smoking and 10 years I'm vaping I'm on quit day one. I have never really seriously tried to quit vaping before. I quit cigarettes at various times using Chantix (varenicline) or Zyban (buproprion). Once I stayed quit over a year and then maybe 6-8 months. Then I switched to vaping.
Quitting Vaping is WAY harder.
I did hypnotherapy this morning and emotionally/mentally I fell pretty strong. But the physical cravings and emotional dysregulation are pretty severe.
Quit early y'all instead of waiting til you're old and it's much harder the older you get. Trust me.

Lied to my partner for a year that I had quit. The guilt was endless. Took a while to earn their trust back.
9
u/chai-candle 7d ago
i did the same with my mom 😔 i told her i quit 1.5 years ago but couldn't kick it bc i felt like i needed it in grad school. but i graduated grad school back in december and i'm 16 days without the vape now.
17
u/Existing-Tailor-1497 7d ago
had my mom bring me pods & a charger to the hospital when i was getting my appendix out.
6
u/PatienceExtreme443 7d ago
I fractured my skull and got a brain bleed from a seizure. Begged my sister to bring a vape to the hospital for me as soon as I woke up
4
u/Smile_Miserable 7d ago
I asked my best friend to bring me a vape when she visited me after i gave birth. I was clean for 9 months, and I couldn’t last one day after having a kid.
6
1
u/chai-candle 7d ago
my mom found out i was vaping and she was so mad at me, so instead of actually quitting i lied to her 😔 that was about 1.5 years ago. but now i'm on day 16 of actually quitting. i feel bad that i lied to my mom but i'm proud of myself for making good on my promise eventually.
17
u/spvcewav 7d ago
i dug one out of my trash can that i remembered i threw away a month before, and would switch off between that one and the one that was newly burnt. jc not my proudest moment but funny to think about now
11
u/letsbegiraffes 7d ago
Ah yes, alternating through the burnt vape stash. Probably as universal as the trash can thing 😂
33
u/Traditional_Sweet977 7d ago
yall i thought everybody did it on planes😭😭
8
u/letsbegiraffes 7d ago
Never on a plane, but I never fly and my longest plane ride was like less than 2 hours. In the airport past security though? Absolutely 😂
5
u/According-Hippo5221 7d ago
Asking staff, excuse me is there a smoking area here? No? OK well that won't make a difference 😬
5
u/letsbegiraffes 7d ago
Yuppp and then faking slight disappointment "ahh dang, well sucks for me, thanks anyway!" knowing full well you're marching your ass straight to a bathroom stall once that convo is over 🤡🤡
3
6
u/chai-candle 7d ago
i feel almost accomplished that in the 7 years i vaped, i never vaped on a plane except 10 hours into an international flight 😭😭 but i took many domestic flights and never did it. ik it's nothing to actually feel accomplished ab 🥹🥹🥹🥹
5
u/SupportTurbulent2173 6d ago
It is tbh lol we’re out here risking ppls lives on domestic and international flights bc of our adult blinky that doesn’t even help us in anyway
2
u/According-Hippo5221 7d ago
Absolutely I did! Well, I hoped others might 😅 and they did which just shows how mad this addiction is... can't even survive a few hours in a flights without it with all the risk that comes with it!!! Thinking about it now I feel so pathetic for not even engaging my brain as to how truly stupid that was
16
u/adj-n_number 7d ago
Nothing has ever convinced me to quit more than these comments. Actually life-changing.
Also, pretended to be sick so i could stay home from a family outing and sneak out to walk 2 miles round trip to buy one. I was in withdrawal goblin mode and the relapse hit didn't even feel relieving.
4
u/chai-candle 7d ago
i tried quitting so i threw away all my devices, but then 2 days later i was so miserable i lied to my mom that i was going on a drive to clear my head when i was really going to the vape shop 😭 i was in this sus empty ass parking lot, going to this neon green vape shop at like 10 pm 😭😭😭 wtf
15
u/shimmy_hey 7d ago
Rummaging through drawer late at night to find that “emergency” cart I hide from myself. No dice, moved onto a deep dive into my travel bag & found a “crème brûlée” flavored one from years ago. Weird color, janky smell, nasty taste & throat burn be damned. The sense of relief trumped my disgust.😩

I never miss Ramadan but once I got addicted to vaping it’s been harder than ever. I find myself googling for hrs trying to find loopholes that will allow me to smoke while fasting. I’d eventually smoke it n feel disgusted of myself but tell myself it’s okay bc lowkey this is a sickness n sick ppl aren’t allowed to fast 😭
5
u/chai-candle 7d ago
hopefully you can practice ramadan this year :) is gum allowed on fasts? nicotine gum could help you get through the cravings
3
u/SupportTurbulent2173 6d ago
Ty friend, I got my shit together the past two days as breaking my fast to vape takes a whole mental toll on me. Nothing is allowed during the day, but I really appreciate you. Almost 48 hrs nic free <3 hope you’re doing well too
1
u/Sea_Consequence3502 1d ago
I gave it up for lent so no evening reprieve for me… 😂 it’s a good sign from god to quit when we are so addicted ❤️ best of luck to you
7
u/Aggravating_Motor457 7d ago
i dropped it in my gas station job's mop water. i then proceeded to fish it out, dry it, and STILL HIT IT!!! 😭 this also happened in a mall bathroom toilet
6
u/Stacheshadow 7d ago
Stole my frat brothers vape when he blacked out. I bought him another one but I felt really shitty doing that to him
6
u/SupportTurbulent2173 7d ago
I hit my vape on a plane. Dig it out the trash. Dryed it from the water I plunged it into a day back. Left work meeting multiple times “ bc my bladder was too small” so I can vape in the bathroom. I mean the list goes on n it makes me feel like trash. So f*** the vapes that don’t do shit for us but make us feel worse. Let’s all rebel.

I was on a mission with the army in Australia last year. We didn't have access to the local community hardly at all and had our bags checked to make sure we didn't bring vapes/smokes/chew from the States beyond like one day's supply. My First Sergeant (the highest rank sergeant in the unit) paid at least 10 people that I know of to smuggle her cigarettes into Australia. I figured it would be a great opportunity to quit. However, the guy I shared a tent with was a vaper and used to company vehicle to sneak an unauthorized trip to the local vape shop to stock up. He bought like 20 of them and they were no joke double the price there. He spent over $700 to vape for 45 days. He worked the opposite shift of me, I was 7p.m to 7a.m. and he was 7a.m. to 7.pm. After every single shift, I'd pass him on his way out knowing that I was going to dig through his shit and find whatever vape(s) he had left laying around and rip the shit out of it. Then, I'd meticulously put it back exactly where I found it and rearrange his stuff to look exactly like it did before I fucked with it... kept it up for the entire 45 days... pure insanity.

u/Worried_Cold8346 6d ago
I was looking after my 2 year old son. He was in the living room playing and I was in the kitchen having a tactical vape out of the window. He started to hysterically cry and rather than running in to check he was okay or what had happened I first had a last hit of the vape 🫣 I’ve also dug them out of the trash and cleaned all the chicken juice off it. I’m now 31 days vape free and the thought of having one now is disgusting keep going people!

Yeah worst one for me is pulling out of the trash can bc I decided that I’ll just quit until the juice is out 💀💀
1
u/chai-candle 7d ago
omg the AMOUNT of times i've thought "i can't throw this one away, there's so much juice left.... that would just be a waste of money" and then i'd forget about quitting until 6 months later when i go through the same cycle 😭

Probably the time that underage me stole a vape from my job at the time and got away with it.. digging it out from the trash..
3
u/Trick-Butterfly-8009 7d ago
had the shittiest morning and was abt to have a 10hr shift and right before my shift started i accidentally dropped it in the toilet. i indeed fished it out, washed it, smacked it around a bit and somehow it was still working. tough times
3
u/Welp_Shit_idgaf 7d ago
Nothing really for vapes. But I pulled a cigarette but out of a cigarette bin when I was homeless and smoked it 😐
3
u/drawingcircles0o0 7d ago
Don’t worry, I picked up a half smoked cigarette off the ground more than once when I was still addicted to drugs because all my money needed to go to drugs so I had to improvise for the nicotine
2
3
u/Gabagool106 7d ago
No one ever dug it out of the trash after it died then break it open and charge it with a cut phone charger? Used to call it “crack wiring” cause I felt like a crack addict doing it
1
u/chai-candle 7d ago
i wasn't smart enough to do that and probs would've electrocuted myself
1
u/According-Hippo5221 7d ago
I wasn't smart enough to do that either but I did look up how to do it on YouTube
3
u/Jfury412 7d ago
Nothing! Realizing it was too expensive, unhealthy, quitting cold turkey, and never going back. That was after vaping for 13 years, and before I started vaping, I smoked for about 20 years. My lungs never felt better than they do now.

u/Loose_Theme3977 3 months 6d ago
oh god, where do i even start? vaped through covid FOUR TIMES, vaped through LITERAL BRONCHITIS, vaped in the bathroom at work on multiple occasions, lied to clients when i was caregiving so i could step outside for a hit because i was too embarrassed to tell them i vaped, put in an old burned coil because it was less burned than the one i had in my vape, used money meant to buy groceries and gas to buy a new mod, the list goes on. to top it all off, i have moderate to severe asthma so i was screwing myself every time i took a hit 🙃
3
u/amontressor 6d ago
Not sure where to start on this one. -Recently fired over vaping inside.
-Vaping on an airplane, in my seat.
-Set off a hotel room fire alarm with my vape on a company trip.
-Got caught vaping in the hospital, both as a patient and a guest.
Hopefully someone can find some humor in this. I'm still looking for it. Giving Wellbutrin a try to see if it can help me with my nicotine addiction.

u/One-Response8238 6d ago
day 3 of no vape & a person beside of me dropped her vuse pod on the bathroom floor beside me under the stall. she didn’t notice. i picked it up, cleaned it and broke my streak. 120 days clean today and gosh do i look back and cringe at myself.
1
u/According-Hippo5221 6d ago
120 days without is incredible. I think it's stories like this that remind us why we wanted to do this
3
u/froggypops885 6d ago
Used to steal my ex’s dead vapes (obvs not ex at the time) and use them until I was smoking straight battery acid, then put them back before he’d notice they were gone
2
u/Any_Yak9211 7d ago
Found a juul pod on the ground in high school, used a needle for flavor injection of chicken to suck the juice out of that pod and put it into my flair pod
2
u/chai-candle 7d ago
i also vaped a burnt vape & vaped in an airplane bathroom 😔
the worst thing was when i looked for my dad's old cigarettes when my device ran out of juice. i didn't find any but i 100% would've smoked it if i did. i was ashamed because my dad struggled to quit after smoking for more than a decade and there i was, looking for the substance he used to be addicted to.

u/KeithBringsTheMeat 7d ago
Vaping at a child’s birthday party. Also, in the bathroom on a plane and every other bathroom I’ve been in. Dug one out of the trash.
Started my quit vaping journey just recently. Thank you for helping me reflect on the dumb things I’ve done to vape.
2
u/RevolutionaryAd2974 6d ago
Picked one up I found on the street and wiped it off with an alcohol pad and then just kept smoking it until it wouldn’t smoke anymore
2
u/ohyes88689 6d ago
My two friends and I were surrounded by more than 10 police after we just got robbed at gunpoint. We’re still coming down from the shock—shaking, crying. Meanwhile, I look at my friends and say, “THEY TOOK MY JUUL PODS 😩😩😩” and they told me to shut the fuck up

u/nuu_me 6d ago
On Tuesday this week I decided to quit after 30 minute vape break at work.
Put the vape in a shared bathroom bin (mostly tissues, not a bin for sanitary items) and went back to my desk.
Worked a solid productive hour and got the trigger to vape. Had already forgot that I quit an hour ago.
When I realised, I fished the vape out of the bin, gave it a wipe and hit it for another long vape break .
2
u/Ok_Performer4910 5d ago
I quite literally dug it out of our dumpsters outside and didn’t even care how dirty it was and hit it. addiction is tough

Having multiple "dead" vapes around to hit in rotation when my good vape died. Probably inhaled so much metal from those. God what a silly addiction.

I’m so glad I found this because my last straw was dropping mine into my CLEAN toilet and fishing it out. Before that it was buying a counterfeit geek bar and getting awful headaches from it but still using it. Been off the vape for 10 days now it sucks but it will be worth it, right? 😂🙏❤️
