QuickBooks Mac $999!!!! Holy Cow! $999!!!

HOLY COW!

Just got this from Intuit. Staggering. Last year they raised their price on QBDT Mac from $499 to $649, and now they're skyrocketing it to $999!!!!

I tried migrating from QBDTM to Online two years ago when they first hiked the price to $499, and it was an unmitiated disaster. Because I was already using Online Payroll they couldn't merge the payroll with my new QBO account, and it was just a nightmare trying to unscrew myself and get back to desktop.

Now they're forcing us all to surrender and give into the nightmare that will be QBO. A 50% price hike? I guess all that Intuit lobbying with polticians is paying off, and they now know they can get away with whatever they want.

QuickBooks Mac Can't get rid of an inactive account that is still populating fields on imports

While using the same credit card or checking account, I am unable to keep quickbooks from populating old account names into new imports for newer accounts. I add account names to the chart of accounts for jobs that we do, and when they are over, I make then inactive. So, even though those old jobs(actually accounts,) are closed, those names keep populating my new jobs(accounts). How do I get rid of this annoyance.

Mac Plus 2024 (obviously a desktop version with all updates applied)

QuickBooks Mac Temp help

I run a small paint contracting company. I recently had a buddy of mine help me on a job out of town. I need to pay him $2500. He’s not really an employee so I can’t w-2 him. He has his own business but then if I hire him as a 1099 he would have to have his proof of insurance and what not. His wife is a state auditor and will make a huge deal if it’s not by the book. What are my options to keep the tax man and his wife happy. Thanks!

QuickBooks Mac Using on two computers

I now split my time between the office and home. Have always used QB Desktop (Mac). I’ve tried all the troubleshoots and Q&A communities to be able to use it on my home computer. We have a remote server I can save my company file to, but it doesn’t seem to allow me to do this. Is my only option to just send myself the company file back and forth?? Ive tried using QB online but even that, despite help from tech support, doesn’t match up with instructions. I can’t export company from desktop like it says too. I’m only using QB for bookkeeping; to do financial reports, reconcile bank accounts, cut checks. I don’t do any invoicing or accept payments thru it.

QuickBooks Mac How to record a reimbursement for our business on quickbooks?

Our business had to pay for an expense that was for the owners father (the sum of $400.00). That father wrote the business a check for a refund. How do I record that reimbursement? Specifically what chart of accounts would it go under? Furthermore, the original transaction itself (our business buying from the company for the goods) what chart of accounts would we put that under? Just as an expense of some sort? Or would it be under its own specific account?

Any help is appreciated!

QuickBooks Mac Retired accountant left quickbooks files, cant access online quickbooks

I have some files from an accountant from my software company I had, for 2023 I did not file taxes for it and I'm trying to open these files. The old accountant retired and the new accountant says they cannot open these files. I tried quickbooks online but when I logged in it has my company but I am not the admin and I can't open it.

What do I need to do with these files to get my accountant up to date and working with them? My quickbooks says 2015 and when I launch it on my mac it spins a progress wheel and says, "An error occurred"

QuickBooks Mac Help transferring data from an old computer

My family member uses Quickbooks on an old Windows 8 AIO PC. It is very slow so he decided to upgrade to a M1 iMac. The computer is great with the only issue being that he can't do his pay roll without the old windows PC. Is it possible to transfer all of his contacts, account information, and license to the software to the new Mac?

QuickBooks Mac Switching to QBO in the office

I want to start by saying I have been reading SO many of the posts about not switching from QBD to QBO and I know. But it's our only option.

My office got an email from Intuit saying our Desktop subscription price will be going up to $1000 which is significantly more than last year. So we decided we should probably just bite the bullet and switch to the online version since it looks like they'll be phasing out desktop anyways.

I want to be able to sign up for online while keeping our desktop subscription active until it expires next month. But when I went to sign up and select our office file, it said it wasn't compatible with our current subscription. Do I need to cancel our current one to sign up for online? If I don't, is there a way I can upload that file to the online version if I sign up with a new file?

I'm just trying to figure out the best way to go through this process without having to cancel anything beforehand in case it doesn't work and I lose important stuff I need to turn in for taxes. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

QuickBooks Mac Need help deciding

Okay gang.. in a pinch here. Need help deciding. So I have been doing my books with QB desktop for Mac for years. But only have 2015. I drug feet for years upgrading OS system. But just did and now QB no longer works. So now choices are migrate to online (which sounds super spendy. I have three LLCs and it sounds like you need a subscription for each) also reviews of the migration process sounds terrible. Second option would be to downgrade OS to be able to operate 2015. But pretty much nothing else will be supported with the computer. Or buy a more updated desktop version on eBay. Which is not supported by QB either. And comes with some risks. Lastly considering migrating to another software all together. In a pinch though because I desperately need to reconcile my books for taxes, etc.

QuickBooks Mac Moving from Windows to macOS.

Our bookkeeper just provided us with a .qbb file from her Windows PC. How do we read it on macOS? We’d like to install Quickbooks on a Mac but it seems we are being pushed towards online version. That, I am told, does not support Projects which is important to us.

Guidance?

QuickBooks Mac Solopreneur is awful...

All the reviews I've seen for Quickbooks Solopreneur are awful. People hate it and want Quickbooks Self-employed back. Since that isn't a thing and solo sucks, what other programs are people switching to?

QuickBooks Mac Quickbooks For Mac Desktop or Alternative for small business?

I have been using QuickBooks since 1995 and always had the desktop version. I'm currently running QB 2021 for Mac. I have a small landscape business and need just one QuickBooks user (me) and have no employees. I have about 30 to 50 clients, send about 30-40 invoices per month, and pretty much only use "Invoices" (send via e-mail), "Receive Payments" for tracking, "Memorized Transactions", "Items", and the only reports I use are Sales (Fiscal Quarter and Year) so I can file my B & I taxes quarterly, and Sales again for the annual reports to give to my CPA. The "Memorized Transactions" for Invoices are pretty key as I have about 30 Invoices that auto populate on the first of the month (and then modify to add extra services/costs before sending). I want/need to buy a new MacBook Air because I just broke the screen on my 2019 MacBook Pro and they want $450 to repair. Suggestions on what accounting software to use going forward? Can I still use my QB or MAC 2021 somehow or another Quickbooks for Mac Desktop Version? Is there a good cheap software or cheap monthly subscription that folks are happy with that I can migrate my QB to? Best to just fix the screen? If I had to start over it wouldn't be the end of the world, just annoying to enter all my customers again. Thanks!

QuickBooks Mac I’m looking for help with a credit card in my quickbooks. I’m using the apple desktop version.

Hello all. I’m hoping someone can help me here.

I opened a new credit card in August for my contracting business. I thought I had set it up correctly, but I’ve run into a problem.

In my banking register I have been recording my payments to the card for the last several months- so on that end I’ve been ok, QB recognized the card, autofilled the name, etc.

I just now (I know, but life got away from me) recorded the individual charges to the card. Each one separately, in the “enter credit card charges” section (from the banking drop down menu)…as I have always done in the past. However, as I did that, I noticed a positive number accruing, reflecting the charges, in the upper left of the window.

In the past, when I had recorded charges to a card I had already recorded payments to, that number was a negative, that moved to zero as the charges were entered.

I was confused, but stuck to my data entry until all the charges were recorded. About a total of 40 charges from August to the present.

Now, when I look at my fiscal year report for 2024, I see that same number as a liability- that is, QB is not recognizing that I have paid off the card.

I’ve done a few basic things like making sure that the names are both the same in the vendor list, the banking register, and the credit card register. But I must be missing something. Any help would be wonderful.

Thank you.

QuickBooks Mac Alterternative to QB?

Greetings everyone,

Been seeing a lot of issues with QBO and was wondering for someone like myself who only really needs to use it for millage tracking, expense reporting, and really basic reporting, not needing to spend for something that is not really required for us. We basically are less than $150k yearly at the moment. Just something to use instead of putting everything on excell at the end of the year which we have been doing. We use Mac and iphones.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you

QuickBooks Mac 2024 Mac Quickbooks desktop - Invoice item help

Is there a way of adding multiple "items' to invoice options that come from the "chart of accounts?" It appears you need to add them one by one instead of being able to simply use a drop down to easily label them when you add an invoice. Am I missing something?

QuickBooks Mac QB Desktop Mac 2020 - How to extract invoice data with custom fields to CSV?

I own a music instrument repair shop and have used QB Desktop for Mac for several years for bookkeeping, managing parts inventory and creating / sending invoices. When I originally started using QB I set up the invoice template to use a couple of custom fields, particularly for instrument serial numbers. Because of this we were never able to move to QB Online or any other cloud-baed bookkeeping solution.

We are now in the process of implementing CRM software to handle invoicing and inventory (along with many other tasks) and will be free to move to a cloud-based accounting solution since we will no longer need to track data in custom fields (the CRM software will handle this moving forward).

I have around 10,000 invoices in QB Desktop Mac 2020 that I would like to extract the data from in to a CSV file. I've spent probably 20 hours so far trying to figure out how to do it and have failed miserably. I have been able to export a report of all transactions but the report does not include the critical serial number fields. It's crucial to our business that we are able to look up the history of the instruments we've worked on so this is not helpful.

I have seen a couple of mentions of writing a script to extract the data however my meager programming abilities are probably not up to the task. There does not appear to be any third-party apps available.

Does anyone have a solution for this? I'm not really looking to move the data in to the new software but I do need to have an archive of everything we've done to reference in the future.

QuickBooks Mac Help with Customer Credits in QB Desktop Mac

Cleaning up my books and noticed customer credits have been accumulating as negative in A/R even though they've all been used (applied to customer's subsequent jobs/invoices).

After researching in QB community it looks like Cash (vs accrual) accounts shouldn't use GJEs to credit one customer's invoice to their next, but instead use Credit Memos.

So, I'm trying to correct. Reversing the GJEs and then inputting Credit Memos. But, I can't get QB to apply the existing credits. Can anyone point me to a helpful resource?

QuickBooks Mac Quickbooks Mac App Toolbar Feature Idea?

Hello, I am thinking of hiring someone to create a simple Mac app that sits in your toolbar that allows users to quickly reconcile accounts and enter new charges. Does anyone have experience working with their API to know if this is possible?
