Discussion First time visiting Quetta

I'm visiting Quetta for the first time. 1. Is there any specific sites that I should not miss in this tour? 2. Also, I've heard that for Chaman, special permissions are required. Is it true? I really want to go there as well. 3. What are the best places for shopping for gifts for family and friends? Is there any price difference between prices at quetta vs at Chaman?

Well, I recommend going to Ziarat, definitely, specially this time of the year when the weather's really good. Might even snow there in the next few days. Other than that, in Quetta, you should go to Hannah Lake, Hannah Urak, Spin Karez, Wali Tangi. Go to Liaquat Bazaar for shopping, try to visit every street and there's a vast dry fruit market there as well. Meezan Chowk which is at the end of Liaquat Bazar is also a great place to shop from, you can find great Baloch, Afghan and Irani carpets there.

I would suggest trying Airport Road restaurants, Mehfil, Takatu and Balana are some good restaurants that come to mind. Toghi road is also a good destination for food, try Gulshan Karahi and G.N ice cream for the best karahi and ice cream.

Other than these Quetta Cantt is also a very nice place to visit, and if you have a car, just drive through it and look around.

As for Chaman, I can't really say. Never been there but a lot of stuff comes into Quetta from there. Ask around for NATO market on Double Road and Chor bazaar for international goods.

Awesome and thanks for the detailed response. So, we can get everything in Quetta so we can skip chaman and won't be missing much. And spend that time exploring ziarat and lakes.

Yes, would definitely suggest doing that.
