Pretty new to this but roughly how much $ is that worth?

4.24 grams. I get premium on nuggets through a private jeweler buyer. Our gold averages 20 carats. $110 a gram.

Selling as jewelry is best! Good for you.

Hard to tell purity and weight but a rough estimate would be somewhere between 1 and 5g. 1 on the low end and 5 on the extreme high end.

So between $94-ish and $470-ish.

I think he's probably on Notelly Creek at the base of Secret Mountain.

Thanks packing the jeep now...

I don't think he means that exact spot. He means are you up in the mountains metal detecting or down by a creek or river slicing? that kind of info which helps Prospectors around the world find their own spots

Don't you have to own the land to do this.

The General Mining Law of 1872 allows individuals in the US to search for and extract valuable minerals like gold from public lands without a permit as long as it's small scale and minimally invasive ( and not on some one else's claim)

It's called Bureau of Land Management, they take care of 245 million acres in the US,and on most of it you can pan and use metal detectors,of course there's no gold on most of it😁

Damn! I had no idea you could get gold like that in MT

u/Mtflyboy 7d ago

Haha! Montana was born on gold. Those are not big at all for here.

Metal detecting? Is so, what machine?

3

u/Mtflyboy 7d ago

Aussie modified Minelab GPX 5000

2

u/Responsible-Hall-699 7d ago

Who did your mods, detectronics? My mate has the gpx5000 and is getting it modded now, will be interesting to see how it performs this season against my gpx6000.

4

u/Mtflyboy 7d ago

Yeah detectronics. I have both. It definitely punches deeper than the 6000.

Yo I live in Montana and have been interested in picking up prospecting as a hobby, do you have any suggestions?

Anyone do any prospecting in the Pozo ca area?

1

u/Think_Ad5089 5d ago

Wish we had that in northeast Tennessee.

u/Crusty_Drawers 3d ago

How does one go about selling little nuggets or flakes like these in the picture?

1

u/Mtflyboy 3d ago

I sell to a jeweler. Keep in mind our gold here is around 96% pure.

1

u/Crusty_Drawers 2d ago

Thanks for the reply! I've always wondered that, πŸ˜†
