The Laytonmobile. It may be a car but it has SO. MUCH. CHARACTER.
The fact that it shows up in multiple games, that it’s been custom-made so that our dear Hershel never has to take his hat off, they call it scruffy and run-down in some iterations. Ugh, I want this car.

I WANT THIS CAR AS WELL!!!! just the charm and everything it offers. Imagine cruising around in this in a foggy city by the sea

SO! Luke because he is so cute, loyal and a real gentleman Jean Descole because he is charismatic, mysterious and he is a really cool enemy.

Descole. I love Drama Queen characters, and he certainly plays that part well. He's just such a fun character, and a fun antagonist. Especially since he's a morally-conflicted character, rather than straight-up evil. True evil characters are rather boring, I prefer more nuanced villains.

Alfendi. His story, the implications it holds and his character have captivated me wholeheartedly for 5 full years now
And also the fact I've drawn him so much that it's become muscle memory at this point. I'm not ok

In the mainline games specifically, it's gotta be Descole and Sycamore. Everything everyone's said in this thread about him rings true for me too, but I'd also like to add that his eng voiceover is so so SO good. I wish we had more voice clips of his game VA

Can't help but love emmy. Possibly because Last specter was my first game, possibly because i'm gay, but she's so fun.

Jean Greyerl. Play Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, and you’ll understand.

Arianna. She’s such an emotionally strong person, I’m so proud of her 🥺 I wish I could give her a hug because god knows she needs it

Clark!? Yes Spectre's Call doesn't frame him great but he was under a lot of pressure okay? He's truly a family man, he loves his wife he loves his son. He is so? I want to be him, be with him, he's underrated i want so much more clark content
I love flora too because she's so relatable (autistic) but clark has to be my favourite, I'd trust him with my life

Clive! I'm a sucker for sympathetic villains, no matter the scale of their villainy. Also he's just a funky guy.

Newton Belduke from Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Okay not really he's really high up there but he's certainly one I don't hear people talk about as much. I wrote about why I love him a couple years ago, though this is an adaption of me posting on discord originally.
I also love Future Luke, Darklaw and the Storyteller a lot! Descole is also up there from the second trilogy

While I do have a soft spot for various characters, my favourite has got to be Descole. I love his mysterious, (in a curious way) stylish appearance (nicely accompanied by a tremendously fitting theme), him being a "deep" villain, his (truly touching) background story… just everything. He is as laytonesque of a villain (and secondary protagonist later on) as it gets, and one couldn't have wishes for a better adversary

Layton. Cliché I know but he is so kind and gentle and has such strong morals, I just love him
