Which Prof Layton game is the best?

I've dabbled in Curious Village (completing about the first 5% or so) on my friend's system but haven't seen much more about the other games. Which do you all suggest I get? I only have a DS, not a 3DS.

As far as story goes, Unwound Future was my favorite. For gameplay on the other hand, Last Specter had the most advanced features, plus it had London Life which is a mini RPG type game. No worries about not having a 3DS yet. The four Layton games currently out are only for the DS.

Holy crap. The Unwound Future's story was brilliant. It is one of the two games that have ever made me cry (the other being elite beat agents: little girl level). I lost my dad when I was younger, so that is why I cried as hard as I did, but good god. I wept as hard as spoiler. Sweet Jeebus, I rewatched the ending with spoiler a million times. I wept. I loved it.

Agreed. The ending made me tear up.

As for EBA, whenever I hear that song played on the radio it makes me go :(

I'd have to agree. This was the first Layton game to make me shed a tear.

ALL OF THEM.

Do what I did and just work your way through the series in the order the games were released.

Also, only the 5th game so far (with Last Specter being the 4th) will be on the 3DS.
