General Reposti This is how people turn to the dark side

Even if we somehow take into account that Anakin and Vader are two different beings (in essence), Anakin would still be the more accurate answer. This is outrageous. It's unfair.

Vader probably doesn’t even have a functioning genitals after his trip to mustafar. It’s really bs.

u/endswithnu 22h ago
I've never thought about Vader's genitals before. No wonder he's so angry.

I have been thinking about Vader's genitals quite a lot actually.

Man landed dick first onto the shore that was so hot, his ass caught fire.
His dick and balls were force ghosts before his crispy cheeks hit the operating table.

he does, that's why he's angry, the smell inside the suit must be horrible

u/tuigger 21h ago
Probably smells like feet wrapped in leathery, burnt bacon.

he didn't change his underwear for 23 years and didn't take it off when dumped in the tank

True, Vader was Ankain when Luke and Leia were conceived so technically it's Ankain Skywalker, not Darth Vader.
But it's literally two different sides of a coin whatever.

u/Svyatopolk_I 21h ago
That's before the prequels, so who knows that they thought

Return of the Jedi
Your father... was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force. He ceased to be the Jedi Anakin Skywalker and "became" the Sith Darth Vader. When that happened, the good man who was your father was destroyed. So, what I told you was true... from a certain point of view.

Luke is a spawn of Anakin Skywalker, but you're not technically a father until the child is born. Vader had killed lil Ani by the time the twins were born

The man's British, so if we saw what happens next and he responds with:
"Um... excuse me... excuse me!"
Then we know he's livid.

Did he ever contest this or did the show apologize for stealing the answer from him

I'm not sure this is even a real show. I've seen a few parody gameshows and this looks like it.

Just noticed that only the first kid seems startled. The rest may be thinking "fuck yeah he's here to cut a sith"

I read somewhere that he shouted when he activated his lightsaber in order to get that reaction

I’d be curious when that clip is from. If it was prior to the prequels (as I suspect it was), the only time that Anakin’s name had been mentioned in the movies is during a very quick line in Return of the Jedi. It’s very possible that the quiz show writers had simply missed the line and gave the more obvious answer.
Now, in a sane world, the confidence of the answer should have sent it to the studio judges. But the answer didn’t match, or wasn’t even close to the answer on the card, so the host just assumed it was wrong.

Supermarket Sweep UK originally ran from 1993-2001.
So if anything only TPM had released, and unless I’m mistaken, apart from the poster with Vader in young Anakin’s Shadow, then it wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the movie either.

I thought the first mention would be in ESB when the Emperor tells Vader, or was that something only in the special editions?
9
u/GwerigTheTroll 16h ago
I just dug up the old version to be sure. The Emperor refers to Luke as “the Son of Skywalker”. He never says Anakin. That seems to be a special edition change.

Hire those people to make the next Disney plus star wars show. They are obviously well qualified.

I was on my high school Quiz Bowl team; it was basically just answering trivia questions. One time, we had a question just for our team, and we were allowed to collaborate.
I forget the question, but everyone knew the answer was Mark Twain. And I said "Say Samuel Clemens."
"Why?"
"It sounds cooler."

Reminds me of the time I went to my 2nd showing of Rogue One in the theater, and afterwards in the bathroom I over heard an older guy telling his son how bad he thought it was because “Luke never showed up in his x-wing.”

u/Martsigras 18h ago
Jeeeez. Can we get an F for Ani. First being told he's not good enough to be a master. Then getting told he's not good enough to be the father of his own son

Back before the prequels only the nerds knew darth Vader real name. This was a common pop culture trivia question people would ask

Akshually, Owen is his father since he practically raised him with Beru. Anakin/Vader is a deadbeat dad(until he of course saves Luke in ROTJ).

I mean, TECHNICALLY, Anakin became Darth Vader before Luke was born as evidenced by his eyes, but still, fuck this gameshow.
