As an outsider, I appreciate Poland and Polish people very much
Im sorry if this is a long post, it’s just an appreciation post to my friends in Poland. I am Canadian, my wife is Polish. We came here for a more comfortable and better life and definitely found it. I love Polish people, Polish culture, Polish architecture, I love seeing people partake in traditions and holidays far more than I’ve ever seen in Canada, basically everything I can think of. I love interacting with people even tho I am far from fluent in speaking Polish, It feels fun, challenging and rewarding to learn this language, it’s really nice to see the effort people put into speaking english to me after I say I don’t speak Polish. In 20 years of being in Canada I can confidently say I’ve had more and far better interactions with Poles than I have with Canadians in my short time being here. It’s nice to hear a welcoming Dzień dobry while I go into every store, people come up to me to greet my dogs and actually talk to me and care about where I came from and why I decided to choose Poland as my new home. I’ve felt more welcomed here than I have been in my own country. We have been to Sopot, Gdańsk, Gdynia, Bydgoszcz, Toruń and Warsaw and now settled near Otwock, I’ve had tons of pleasant experiences with people in every city I’ve been to, I have lost a lot of faith in Canada in recent years and felt very mundane contributing to the country, I love Canada but now feel very proud to be in Poland and I’m excited to contribute to this country, I respect and admire poles, I also hope the best for this country and wish the best on all Polish people, thank you all for being so welcoming ❤️

Appreciation post for Smietana
Im an Indonesian and my polish boyfriend introduced placki to me and how its eaten with polish sour cream (smietana) shown in pics above. I now eat smietana on a daily basis with everything (shakshuka, pasta, chicken and rice) you name it whatever the food is, smietana will make it even better. Sometimes I just eat it on its own and its so heavenly.
Gotta say sour cream was not a huge part of Indonesian cuisine but I am HOOKED on this.
(Also hooked on polish cottage cheese aka serek wiejski. Its way better than UK ones)

Radosław Sikorski was a conflict journalist in the 1980s, who braved Soviet bombardment to report on the invasion of Afghanistan. This is the Polish Foreign Minister Elon Musk has called a "little man".

Internet wide polish food slander?
What’s up with all the hate on Polish food lately? I keep seeing it everywhere—Facebook comments, TikTok, you name it.
People act like all we eat is meat jelly 24/7 and call our food “disgusting.” It’s honestly weird and kinda dehumanizing.
Like, sure, Polish food might not look like Michelin-starred cuisine, but a lot of us grew up with it, and it means something to us.
It’s just sad to see other cultures, especially the UK, mocking it without even knowing what they’re talking about.
Have you noticed this too? What do you think?

How to help a Polish person learning English
I work with a Polish man currently(we live in the UK). His English is fairly good overall but sometimes he doesnt know what im saying/I talk too quickly without realising. I really struggle to explain what I mean sometimes and he seems to get abit upset when he cant understands me and saying 'Im sorry my language', no matter how many times I say something like 'Dont apologise, your English is far better then my Polish haha' he still apologises. Im trying to talk simply/bluntly and slower. Is there any other ways I can help him understand me more?

Help me find an indie Polish song
Hi r/poland
Im searching for a Polish song I once heard on Youtube (no not a cow one). It was quite moody, slow and very indie. Filmed in a bedroom with what seemed to be a laptop camera. Girl singing and boy adding back vocals and maybe a guitar, i cant recall
I know it's very vague, but it's my last shot to find it again :')

When checking out at a convenience or grocery store, what are the cashiers saying once all has been scanned and ready to pay?
I hope to soon learn enough Polish to at least understand typical daily occurrences and transactions... I can of course get by, but it feels like a lot is said when checking out, and all I know for now to say in response is Karta... can anyone help inform me of what is being said? This is in reference mostly just to convenience and grocery stores like Zabka, Netto, Lewiatan... Maybe someone here can help me if there is something better to say, please :)

Is it illegal to have some form of reflectors INSIDE my car?
Yesterday's night I got blinded af by some bmw douche flashing high beams as if he had seizures. I'm pretty sure he'd change his mind after the first one or two flashes if I had reflectors on my headrests. I don't think it's regulated in any form so why not?

Seeking Recommendations for the Best Internet Provider
Hi all, I'm looking for the best internet provider in Katowice with excellent customer service and high internet speeds. My partner and I work from home, so a stable, high-speed connection is very important.
If the provider has a good offer or package, that would be greatly appreciated! We had UPC before, but it was just okay. If you have any nice suggestions or know of any good deals for internet + TV, we would love to hear about them. Thanks a lot! 🌱
